Craig Thomson and Peter Slipper are saints compared to that bloke ,

Great read , thanks for that Yoss

Well Slipper is more an idiot. He strikes me as this incredibly sad and lonely man who for whatever reasons known to him, felt he'd found his new best bud. And then he got the Linda Tripp treatment.

Thompson just comes across as an incredibly odd man. He spent years and years getting what he wanted and destroyed it through stupidity and hubris.

You're right though, Tuckey makes them look like lightweights. Come to think of it, compared to people like Keating, Howard, and even Hawke, this current mob look pretty 2nd rate. Even Andrew Peacock would probably wipe the floor with this lot.

So once again Tony Abbott has opened his bigoted mouth and tried to demean the Prime Minister .
To her credit she kept her self above it all and did not express any ill feeling .
But it was there for all to see , Abbott the Bigot having a swipe at her because she has no kids ….

When are the Libs going to wake up and find a real Leader? .... Soon i hope so I can stop being so nervous about federal politics

Storm in a tea cup and hardly an important event. Everything he said is true but so what?

The real issue yesterday and one you failed to mention is that Labor detailed a mini budget and admitted they will fall short of their promissed surplus unless a number of cuts are made. Gillard deflected attention from this issue by going on the attack again. Her only avenue is to demolish Abbott's credibility amongst women and this is a further example. She has far thicker skin than she is currently promoting.

lol, looks like you're a willing ally in the great Labor smokescreen. Tell you one thing though, there's a lot of contractors going to be crying in their corn flakes when they're ousted. There's been some creative invoicing going on, always is when Labor are in Government, but my fave is Clemenger's Carbon Tax ad series. They could have used any number of locations, but they chose to build three different kitchens, which they've since dismantled and put into storage. Taxpayer covered that escapade to the tune of $100k. Congrats to the Account Manager, he's not only earnt his bonus, but must be having a laugh at Labor's expense.

Dumb, stupid, hopeless, inept, which do u think?

By the by those Coalition policies you're always whining about are on the website, all two pages of them

But seriously when are they going to find a leader with some dignity …

Their pathetic attempts at providing something that looked like a balance sheet didn't include the NBN capex of some 45bill, because they see it as a 'profit making venture'! Unbelievable….

Well Paul Keating managed to do it without telling them how stupid and/or ugly he thought they were…..
and Bob Hawke managed to do it without ripping off his wingtip and skulling beer out of it....

I think he would be just fine.

Its a lesson in the power of the media and the willingness of the unwashed masses to follow their line of thinking. God forbid, without the media people might have to conjure up their very own thoughts.

I'm still wanting to see evidence of Abbott being

a) A woman hater.
B) Leader of a Party with no policies
c) intimidating and threatening
d) Negative
e) being a religious zealot

Smoke and mirrors

Agree and seems Aussie politics becoming more and more like America in terms of being construed by the media.

A - I don't think he is a women hater , he is Gillard Hater , and he is sexist , the way he regularly says things like " when the house wives are doing the ironing " ….

B - you give me the policy detail please ? I can't even remember the last time they proposed an amendment ?

C - have you ever watched parliament , you don't need to be a body language expert to work out what his actions are saying

D - all he does is oppose , he once recently said " my job is to oppose " , sorry to burst your bubble but that is not all .... You could introduce or amend a bill here and there if you like. also despite the stable growth we have had , he continues to talk down out economy every chance he gets

E - he opposed the abortion pill years ago his decision was based on his religious beliefs .
\
\
An he also said on national TV , that only response and statements which he has carefully though about and prepared , should be taken as gospel truth , the rest maybe false .
\
\
I hope this helps , I think anyone in the libs down to Christopher Pine and Scott Morrison would do a better job as leader of the Libs then Abbott can , when will they wake up .

and yet Abbott claimed he would improve the budget position by stopping the NBN, despite it being off budget, unbelievable

How is the MRRT going so far?

…not too good...

Lol . Nice post …... I suspect the mining companies may have found a way around it , perhaps fudging their numbers for this quarter .
\
\
How do you feel about the MRRT Stryker ?

Good or bad and why ?
\
\
..... Just thinking maybe it would be nice to actually discuss policy , rather then the constant cycle of bagging politicians .

Might have been in the eighties, when creative invoicing was an art form, but companies keep a very tight rein on the Agencies these days. They just cant spend money with impunity anymore. The Labor Party yet again, prove how appalling they are at managing the financial aspects of these projects. Combet laughed it off, 'it's only 100,000, why don't we concentrate on bigger issues'. There you have a snapshot of this party's attitude and it's complete indifference to taxpayers. No accountability, no responsibility, no commercial experience, no appreciation of who their stakeholders are etc.

The Agency could have (and they know it) used any number of homes on their books and there are plenty. They have a catalogue of locations for interiors and exteriors. The daily rate is around $1500-$2000, friends of mine in Hunters Hill have had an Agency use their interior/exterior twice the last eighteen months

Spend, spend, spend. You could cop it if they knew what they were doing, but they're commercially disabled

you know this government spends far far less than the Howard Govt did on advertising, right?

compare say, $40m odd for the carbon tax with $180m for Work Choices?

spend spend spend, commercially disabled indeed

Advertising agencies LOVE government contracts .
Just like banks they have no concept of what things would normally cost - and don't really care.
That's because it's not THEIR money they are spending.
I spent my whole life in advertising and can tell you they paid about 10 times the going rate to make the ad and would be paying the most expensive media rates to have them aired. ( so the agency gets more back in commission)
Since these ads were first discussed in May the spend has jumped from $ 36 million over 2 years to ALREADY spending $70 million.
Go figure.

in the interest of fairness I got the Work Choices spend wrong, it was $120m
