Yes LCA there was a very clear bias and that fact is not in dispute. Commercial, mainstream organisations always push an agenda. They are in the business of looking after their stakeholders….not least of which are the shareholders. No one is claiming that Abbott did not enjoy the aid of powerful sections of the media just as Rudd did in 07 when youth networks and programmes portrayed completely one sided views on the coalition. This is the way of the world LCA and I laugh every time someone brings this up as a defence for the actions of old aunty.

One problem though champ... All of those organisations be they left, right or middle leaning are privately owned by people with defined agendas. The ABC is publicly owned. We ALL own it. For that reason it should be a beacon of neutrality in a sea rhetoric, spin and false pretences. It no longer is and to be frank it hasn't been for some time now.

You are way too harsh pearl, Tony has even amazed himself with his new found abilities. Not only has he done something that he proclaimed he could never do, in joining with the Greens to pass legislation. In the same breath he managed to convince his own party that they had been wrong in previously wanting to debate the need for rises in the debt ceiling, and it really should be a free for all for a government.

Hmmm…..Stryker. I think we would only ever agree on one thing.....the footy team we support. For Abbott and those who support him to cry foul about media bias is the most clear indicator that the man and his supporters are delusional. How the hell do you think he got to where he is now? Through clearly biased, prejudiced, deceitful and dishonest reporting and commentary by mainstream media and the vested interests of those who run it and are employed there. And, what an outstanding bunch of people they are! Those with no brains, no compassion , no clear understanding of contemporary Australia would vote for Abbott again, if given a chance. And, I sincerely hope and expect that chance will sooner than later.

x 2 … does anyone really know what mr rabbits vision is for australia ? apart from being a bumbling foreign policy embarrasment and backflips on education what has he really achieved ... diddly squat.

This is laughable. What an absolute disgrace to bad mouth the coalition 5 months in. After the years of incompetence, lies, and backstabbing in the labor party. One has to wonder who you people are to still support them after what happened.

With all policies aside and leave out all the crap. It became quite obvious that the labor party would stop at nothing to stay in power. Even if it meant dishing out a blatant lie (carbon tax) to get votes or leaders turning on each other TWICE in order to make sure they wouldn't lose too many votes.

That was what it was all about. Just stay in power. Do what ever it takes.

I don't think they win another election for a very long time so get used to Abbott.

Haha the polls already show LNP are behind and that's since 100 days after the election. I'm sure it's even lower now after SPC/Davos/changes to Medicare/lack of transparency/incompetence/Marriage counseling/ABC accusations with Idiot Hadley/Great Barrier Reef dumping. And most of that's within the last 2 weeks.

Abbott's biggest problem is that he sees the LNP winning the election as a majority agreement that EVERYONE agrees with every single policy e.g NBN

I was glad to hear he was going to try and get Aboriginals recognized in the constitution until I realized that he either a) won't do it b) will slant it ala Howard's republic referendum

Conservatives have got to get over the carbon tax. It's all they use to discredit the Labor government which has led Australia in a positive financial position despite what LNP supporters seem to think. Abbott is ridiculously stupid to think an economy will grow by making cuts. History shows that and given how old fashioned he is it's quite strange.

If Abbott continues along this path he's going to need some sort of scare tactic like children overboard to even have a chance.

So it was OK for the Federal Govt to do nothing about the bund wall leak in Gladstone and letting the LNG stir up all the heavy metals in Gladstone Harbour to make it unusable for Gladstone Fisherman to this day ( 4 years later )Their are coral reefs on all the edges of the Harbour

But when you have a spill on the GBR its all shock horror and its all the Coalition's fault

All Labor supporters are hypocrites of the highest order

Conflicted tigsta? In another thread your not impressed about someone gambling with their non hard earned, yet you prefer conservatives.

Are you serious ?

Mate I shared my opinion on a fool willing to part with 10 mil on a bet which he lost by the way.

My opinion of the labor party is that they are a bunch of second rate turncoats willing to do anything to stay in power even if it means switching leaders at the last minute just to try and salvage a disastrous election result. They are fools.

That is all from me.

I find anyone whom backs a major party like a footy club tends to be a hypocrite, be it LNP or ALP. Always quick to point out fault of the other, particularly once they have left government, and rarely/never give praise for any beneficial policies.

We're only a handful of months into the Coalition government, and Toned Abs already going down like a glass of cold sick. He's got plenty to do to win the public back.

Great point happy.

It's laughable now how Julia Gillard was rolled out all the misogynistic comments, suggesting it was sexism at work, when people were critical from Labor's wasteful policy and disfunctional govt.

While, Abbott is coping far worse without even 1 budget to his name yet.

I agree totally CB , I said in another post that both the major parties are crap at the moment people had to make a decision at the last election who they thought would be better

Time will tell , but I'm as let down as the next person by Abbott But again we don't know how bad the ship already was when he took over

I wondered out loud whether Malcolm Turnbull would challenge for leadership at some stage I still believe at one stage it will happen imo

He isn't as radical as Abbott and I believe of any candidate on either side of politics he would make the best PM He can see the future of Australia

With all due respect Happy (for some reason that post came up as anonymous) I was just listing negative things so far that will lose Abbott voters from the shift that has already occurred towards Labor. Abbott would be having a field day in opposition if Labor was doing this stuff.
I predict both Shorten and Abbott will be replaced before the next election.

agreed… Abbott wont lead the LNP to the next election!

We can only hope. I think Malcolm Turnbull is the man but have heard that high profile media backers of the LNP are determined that he is never leader of the party again.

He should go and form a new party, Australia. Is ready for a viable alternative party.

Abbott has already won the next election …. With the confirmation of Badgerys creek airport next week and the starting of the Connex motor way by then it,s all over . Federal elections are won in Western Sydney ... And I forgot THE BOATS HAVE BEEN STOPPED do not underestimate Tony Abbott many in the Labor party have and are now history.

It's not so much as the boats being stopped, it's that Tony has 0 guilt is looking at a boat full of desperate people and sending them back to the desperate situation they were fleeing. He is using resources that could be used to help, to push them away and make them not Australia's problems.

I think it is fair to say that a lot of posters in this forum are not so much pro Labor (or Greens for that matter), rather they are anti conservative. As such, we have no option other than not liking the coalition.

With the ultra conservatives holding sway once more since their ousting of Turnbull, the name of the leading coalition party is especially ironic at the moment. The mere fact that they still call themselves Liberals is insulting, as they are basically opposite of liberal.

For those that blindly support any party, you have that right, even if it just like following a team because your parents did. I just wish more people would take a look at political history (also other western countries) and the corresponding economics. Most would be surprised to find it is not what is portrayed or generally believed.

Stryker, it is interesting that you admit a bias in commercial media leading to the election of this appalling, Un-Australian government. But, I haven't heard any of them admit that fact. The sanctimonious among them believe that the ABC has been biased against them. Well, Stryker, I don't believe there is any bias, "champ". I trust in the integrity of the ABC and those running it more than anyone associated with the LNP, or those stupid enough to vote for them. Are you SERIOUSLY placing more faith in the integrity of Murdoch, Jones, Bolt, Hadley et al than the leaders of the ABC?? Are you?? Seriously?? That's what it comes down to.
