Please ***I don't mind being quoted, but get it right.***
John Howard DID preceded over the largest non war deficit this country has seen and that was when he was treasure under Fraser.

Mate I dont want to misquote you, which is why I have left this quote on by itself. It is simply untrue.
![deficit.png](/assets/uploads/files/1621909128410-deficit.png)

82 was Howards last budget as treasurer and it was surplus, not deficit.

The economy was buggered at this time and there was double digit inflation, interest rates and unemployment.....it was also global.

Hawke and Keating then undertook the most extensive restructure since the war and completely fixed the underlying economic issues.

The largest deficits of all time have been under Rudd (2010, post GFC) and 2020 under Morrisson (COVID).

Correct me if Ive misquoted you anywhere.

https://tradingeconomics.com/australia/government-budget

Ok I owe some facts, I will get back to this but at the moment too busy at work, but I will leave you with this; John Howard has the distinguish of being the only treasurer in Australian history to have inflation, unemployment & interest rates at double figurers.

Have a look at interest rates under Keating, we had a mortgage at the time he was treasurer paying 21% through a building society.
That's enough to never trust Labor ever again.

I know some people will never change their opinion and that is fine that is your choice, but you do realise it was the ALP that provided the modern economy that is the democratic world bench mark? If the Torie's could have done that, why didn't they previously; they had 26 years after the war and managed to run Australia through boom and bust economies on a continues cyclic pattern. Sticking to trickle down economic theory that helped their donors.

This is an example of what I have addressed previously. Even in Indigenous communities there are a raft of varying and countering opinions on how to improve the lives of descendants of Indigenous Australians. Some vary from what would be considered identity politics to people like Jacinta Nampijinpa Price and Pat Dodson whom are trying to tackle problems at an institutional level. Electing more representatives like them will have better outcomes for them than chanting in the streets.

You're absolutely right CB. No different to the rest of society really. There is usually a range of different views and approaches on almost every social/economic issue. it would be naive to think that all aboriginal people shared the same view on how their interests are best served.

I think people both on the left and right are guilty of that (thinking indigenous opinions are homogenous,) both can be damaging.

I feel the same about climate protests. I am vehemently against climate change denial. I have spoken here at length about the damage my particular industry does and I have geared my occupation toward adoption of greener technology.

Kids yelling in the street is a good way to get attention, but in terms of asking what they really want in the way of pragmatic and viable policy/solutions, there's not much substance.

Like everything, education is key.

To say that I'm disappointed to see Porter drop his defamation suit against the ABC is a massive understatement. For mine, as a nation we needed to see this play out in the absence of any inquiry or similar and especially because of the silence of a non-disclosure agreement.

The ABC and Milligan's defence was based on it being the truth and therefore not defaming, with witnesses lining up to testify. The supposed offending article remains, along with many unanswered questions.

Unlike the government the truth could come out in court,i guess Porter did not want that to happen and was hoping the ABC would give him a payout which they did not do.
A woman committed suicide because she believed it happened and yet Porter is above scrutiny

My greatest concern is that there was influence and/or pressure for an agreement.

So, apparently Scummo is making an announcement today (4/5) about "unwanted pests" in our environment?

I can write it for him: "I am one. I'm leaving for Hawaii, permanently".

What a joyous day that would be for Australia.

At least it is Morrison and hopefully we dont have to witness Albo weave his magic on the country

One trillion dollars in debt. LNP sound management in motion.

You must be Gerry Harvey or Gina Rinehart to blindly continue to back them.

Doesn't worry Scomo - he won't have to worry about repaying it - those sort of things usually fall on to the Labor party to get things back on to even keel before being shafted again for those born to rule.

I can tell from first hand that is definitely the case. I worked in Remote Area Health Services in the NT for 3 years. When i first went there i thought i knew what was needed and how to get things right. How naive i was. i was blown away by the enormity of the problems these people face. In the end i just listened to the elders in the communities and tried to provide what they thought was necessary. The funny things is the indigenous people in managerial positions in Alice Springs - those making the decisions - had as much clue as me as to what was needed to overcome a lot of the problems. Plus also their hands were tied by political decisions made in Canberra which really may as well have been in another galaxy.

In the land of the brain dead another mass shooting today in Florida.3 men armed with assault rifles and handguns fired randomly into a crowd of people and then drove off.So far 2 dead and over 20 rushed to hospital.
Nobody has claimed responsibility or have been arrested so far.
What a stupid country.

That is a big call and there is no evidence that this is true. The woman had many publicised mental health problems.

Some lunatic claimed on Fox News the other day that the perpetrator of another recent mass shooting must have been vaccinated. Whether he was implying that the vaccine makes people commit mass murder, or that the types of people who get the vaccine are mass murderers, I still can’t work out. I’m not sure which is the dumber implication. This is the same country btw that treats it’s lead medical expert Dr Anthony Fauci like a pariah because science doesn’t tie in with their political beliefs. It’s like the Simpsons episode where they have Principal Skinner tied up and he’s saying “I’m telling you people, the earth revolves around the sun”, and Grandpa shouts “burn him”. That is literally the state of that country atm.

Anthony Fauci should be treated like a pariah because in a time of great need when the country needs good, reliable honest information, he has repeatedly lied and misled the American people and as a result he is the one that has sown distrust of authority regarding COVID. That and the fact that he was the one responsible for the US Govt overturning the ban on gain of function viral research which is plausibly the source of the pandemic.

The USA has always a population of believers of fantasy, from there beginnings were believers left England seeking the promise land to a place no one had seen, to their creation of Hollywood and the culture of celebrity. Two thirds of the country believe in fairies, witches and all other form of nonsense are true.
All other the major nutty religions come from America, scientology, Mormons, Jonestown, the list goes on and on.
Social media has blurred the lines between fact and the American belief system and in America you can be who ever you want.
My favorite line from the Simpson's was "shot them all and let God work it out" seems to be the common believe there.

It came from a french monk in 1209 and then again in the Vietnam War.

John Barilaro is proceeding with his intent to sue Jordan Shanks. Shanks will be taking it before a jury.

Barilaro is living up to the #stupidfatidiot hashtag. Shanks wants Barilaro to out himself in court in a publicised case.
