Thought it was a penalty, but he did say post match that he wasn't concerned about his judiciary appearance and that he hoped Cheeks was OK.

He didn't chuck a Cam Smith and argue it. And he showed concern about Cheeks when he was out on the deck

Reason for penalty just …well just because.

Well officially, and technically, it was for using Steve Walters as an obstruction whilst he retreated to an onside position.

I believe it's still the rule, though I have never seen it called since.

too easy mate....someone mentioned smith the grub and i simply compared him to pearce the grub.....

I don't think Ponga is one, but if he keeps playing like slater the grub used to then I can see the tide turning for him in grubbery

I believe it's still the rule, though I have never seen it called since.

I don't think it is a rule mate, thats why you have never seen it since. Ive seen Harrigan explain it away as being the right thing to do because Mcguire did something not in the spirit of the game and i have seen plenty of players do what Mcguire did since including this year and never ever a penalty against the attacking player. I think Mick Neill said it best when some years later there was a reunion and somebody introduced him to Harrigan and Neills reply was something along the lines of " yeah gday Bill, hows the condominium in Canberra".
