Positives for the last year

3. Klemmer and Stefano - both played well all year.
4. Bateman - a great addition always competitive.

Sorry to be a downer but these three did not perform well enough and can't be considered positives. They are taking up large chunks of our cap and not making an impact.

I think To'a is a positive. He has the ability to make a bust and finish.

I'd add Twal as well. I reckon he has had a great year. I think he has been better than our two highly paid starting props.

8 Brooks is leaving

Api for his long term commitment and desire to see this club succeed

Bula for discovering a hidden gem. Can’t really find much else for me

Tupou and Pole to a lesser extent, but I think as the spankings got worse and worse it messed up their confidence … especially Tupou who looked like a gun early season

Agree, let’s not kid ourselves ..

Klemmer is a stats man. Gets his job done, that’s it

Stefano has been inconsistent all year, being in a losing club probably has hindered his development

Batemen is meh..tries hard but think he needs to be in a good team to stand out.

This club deserves harsh criticism, we are back to back spooners for a reason

Api.
Bula started like a house on fire, but was quickly extinguished.
Reilly was better than I expected based on his reserve grade form.

Others were badly underwhelming. We got the bludging warriors version of Papali'i.

Klemmer must have been to therapy as the "hard man" and aggro has gone out of his game, he is now a like for like replacement for Aaron Woods.

The Gun youngsters like Blore, Stefano, Matamua are not looking like standout first graders.

Positives for me, have been I've had some meaningful conversations with people on here.

The forum has been quite pleasant and enjoyable over the season despite our poor results.

On field wise... not much.
Obviously Api has brought a very high level of class to our team and I hope it shows improvement moving forward with some solid recruits incoming.

Every game had a story.
Inexperienced squad with a lot of upside.
Lack of confidence and in themselves.
The real overhaul should be the lower grades where the so-called Pathways are leading the way.
It's going to be a massive job, for everybody.

I think it can't be underestimated how the failure to score points and get some wins in those early stages killed energy, spirit and momentum. I was enjoying a lot of what I was seeing in those early rounds. Hoping that the halves shake up and some outside back signings fix that. I'm confident we can compete and win consistent field position, if the field position is converted.

The Good:
Api.
Bula looks very promising.
Tupou looks quite promising.
Klemmer & Utoikamanu match up with most packs.
Pole, Lualili'i & Fa'agutu look very promising.
Da Silva looks like he fits.
Very happy we added Fainu x 2 & Sullivan- add these to the very promising list.
Seyfarth & Twal improved dramatically.

The "No Change":
Papali'i didn't meet expectations, but didn't look awful either. Hoping new halves equal better opportunities
Bateman has as many questions as answers. Not an exceptional player anymore, but what is effort worth?
Staines was adequate. His contract value needs addressing.
To'a had some very good games, but mixed in some less than stellar performances.
Reilly transitioned into 1st grade quite well- more scope required.
Feledy looked out of place at times but had a couple of decent runs. Much more work required.
Brandon Wakeham was significantly better than expected.
Matamua needs to deliver on promise.
Naden needs to stay fit & on the field.
Adding Sezar could significantly help our field position.

The "Bad":
Nofoaluma's contract value is bad. Declining player, but has some good games left in him.
Simpkin had one or 2 decent games mixed in with so many lacklustre performances. Not showing enough.
Tumeth didn't show any progression.
Will Smith holds no value at the club.
Blore cannot stay healthy, which is a shame because there IS a player there.
Laurie looked good for a combined 53 playing minutes. That was accumulated over the course of the season.
Brooks did NOT become what Sheens hoped for.
General lack of kick chase urgency. Poor defensive reads. Unstable under attacking kicks. Wingers & Centres on different schedules for the up & in defence. Squad is too heavy on future players in next years Top 30. Depth will continue to be an issue if the kids are not ready to step up.
Kepaoa declined as a player & suffered from all the above points.

These guys are the underperformers in the club based on their pay packets. Brooks is as well but he is gone next year.

When Mbye was here I remember someone or maybe a bunch of people stating we need to have our highest paid players being our best players. Klemmer, Stef and Bateman aren't doing that.

I think Klemmer has been the best out of those guys in relation to value for money but as you state he is just getting his job done. He isn't having a big impact.

If there is a positive, it is that there is overwhelming proof that some people very high up at this club are not good enough at identifying talent nor providing a plan for our teams and that these people need to go, for good. Flegg, Cup, NRL, NRLW are all right at the bottom which is quite an achievement.

To’a showed he can be a high quality tackle busting centre when he’s in the right frame of mind and receives some decent ball with time and space to move.
Obviously he needs to make a big improvement in his consistency and his defence, but there can be no doubting his raw tackle busting ability.
Staines when on the field showed plenty of pace and the intent to run into the tackle at speed, not just submit to the tackle like many of our players do.
Reilly scored a stack of tries in our struggling NSW Cup team and then showed plenty of energy and willingness to compete when given a chance at NRL level.
Seyfarth showed he has matured into his big frame, played with high energy and an obvious desire to give his all for the jersey.
Good post Vicious. I really hope Staines stays in 2024. We really need his pace and I agree he shows commitment on the field.

Twal yes. He is one guy that’s tried hard all year. We know what we are going to get out of him which makes planning easier. Additionally he is evolving a bit. A goose step, a shimmy, a show and go and some late foot work all show he is trying to improve.

Steph no. He hasn’t come on at all. He hasn’t improved at all. He is very inconsistent still. He is a few years away from being truly useful.
Have to agree that Twal has improved offensively and still solid with his defense in the middle but Step to me has been a disappointment.

Still very young so Stef has time on his side, but probably the best thing he did all year was get JWH fired up, just needs to fire up more often and start running with intent if he wants to genuinely be a leader here.

Wow with a half back we could have one the first 12 games in the list
