Player loan deals work

G'day @mike Would Melbourne be as positive as Us? ie did they get the same value from Momorovski as We received from Grant?

It's not a matter of getting equal value I think it's more important that the deal actually worked and got through the NRL. Apart from injuries, no real downside to either party. Injuries occur and it is just a fact of life of an NRL player, loan deal or no loan deal.

So yeah Melbourne go value as well. They got Momo who played OK until injured and then they are getting Harry back with one year of NRL experience under his belt.

Yeah, I think Grant would barely have gotten a single game playing for the Storm this year, and he would have languished with no Reserve Grade.

I'd say their future hooker gained one season of NRL that he wouldn't have played had he been at the Storm. This could only have left him dissatisfied. So I believe Melbourne had a win.

Our win has to be the recruitment of JAC. We fail on that and we may as well pack it in.

It would be great to get JAC, it would hopefully start to be the rebuilding of the WT brand (getting away from 9th), but it wont necessarily be the end point if we dont get him. I felt the same with Dogshot Mitchell last year, that if we missed him it was all over, we were a joke as a club, and missing out on him really hurt hard to tell the truth.

But regardless of getting JAC, we will have more money in the coffers when Packer and Reynolds leave after next year, so it is likely we will be chasing hard one or two players then. So JAC would be good, but the real test is who we recruit for 2022, and that can happen come November this year.

JAC is consistent, a SOO and Kangaroo. He is the big name signing, the player who can finish plus use his pace to cover in defence. He should have been our first signing.

I find it difficult to list Grant as a positive considering he won’t be with us moving forward. Feels like a bit of a tease.

Positives for me:
Nofoaluma - this guy is the heart and soul of the team now.
One year closer to the end of Packer and Reynolds deals.
Finding a goalkicker!
Signing Tamau, an experienced, relatively injury free player on a reasonable deal, both from a $ and length perspective.
Some younger signings that are exciting... Blore, Stefano etc.
The club sticking by Madge.
And I hate to say it, but moving on from Benji.
