@Mistadobalina said:all the papers said he'll get 500 a year, or that it's "blair's $2m payday".
@Goose said:This will be unpopular, I dont really want Dugan, i reckon he could be more trouble than he is worth.
I think they are working towards Tedesco, he will not be ready next year IMO, 2013, if he develops as they hope, is more realistic, he may play a few games next year.
@Mistadobalina said:huh? I love the tigers, and Shifty for that matter. I think I got Blair's and Bell's ages confused, but whatever, 500k a year on blair is a pretty big fee for a position that realitically isn't that important.

Not sure if Tedesco will make the grade but I think that is the plan for the future.
Tedesco took the step up from SG Ball to NYC with no trouble finishing with some impressive stats in particular his kick return averages being the highest in NYC.
He needs to bulk up a bit and a full off season presumably with the top squad should fix that. Didn't work for Mullaney Yes…But I think Tedesco is different in that he is also a ball player and just has that football brain that you just can't teach. His seen his good mate Matt Groat make the step up and maybe it will be his turn next year.
Tedesco has been very impressive in the U20s games I've seen, you are right he needs to bulk up but that will come with a tailored program. He is a long term prospect in the meantime players like Brown have a chance.
@1974semifinal said:Okay..I do not have much right to comment on Tedesco having hardly seen him. IS he really that good..Mullany outscored everybody in that U20s but he apparently was a bum..no good for this club. So what are Tedesco's chances ??
@snowleopard said:what is the problem with Mullaney? Has he signed with another club?

Hey be careful..you are not allowed to have an opinion which differs from the Board. Teflon Tim is untouchable here at times, so I have found out. Until Blair shows his worth there will always be questions about his signing, and whatever, he did not come cheap, ask Gibbs and Moltzen. BUT.. good forwards are still as important as flashy backs , even in this modern game.
@Swordy said:Remember, whatever fullback we choose has to have the playmaking and ballplaying skills similar to other modern fullbacks.
IMO, Grant, Reddy, Brown, or Beau Ryan do NOT fit that description. Sure, they may be good footballers, but none of them have those required 'extra' skills. I think Moltzen going was not what the club expected. They took a gamble and lost out.

Do you rate slater as the worlds best fullback…possibly one of the greatest fullbacks?...(which he is)
because slater has been known to saythat his passing game is one of his weak points and he never had a natural passing game and it was something he has slowly developed and needs to be working on.

I do rate him as the best, but based on your comments which are spot on, I might clarify what I mean.
A fullback needs to be able to read the game like a playmaker. They may not be able to do it, but they can learn if they have that initial skill. As much as I like Beau Ryan and Mitch Brown especially, neither of them have that special read in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, both great players, but not with that exceptional vision. Grant may have it, but he is a big lump of a lad and coming from Rugby, things are very, very different. I'd be extremely surprised if he could read the game that well.
Which probably leaves Reddy as the one most people are leaning toward. Does he read the game exceptinally well? From what I have seen, he does above average, but not exceptional. Could he learn the skills, sure. Do I think he will, no. I think he will be a great winger or centre.
Like you said, Slater learned those skills. So did Matt Bowen. Both nippy and can get to the position they need to be quickly. Others like Lachlan Coote, Brett Stewart, can read a game but have had to learn those skills. Maybe Joel Reddy is in that category. I just think Tim Moltzen reads a game extremely well. Others like to bag the crap out of him on here, but I disagree. Hodgo was another who read the game extremely well and learned to be around the ruck and throw the passes.
So I guess it means Reddy is our best option for now. I expect a big surprise from next year. Maybe even Benji at fullback when Rob Lui gains that confidence to run the show and do it well.
