Possible Fullbacks

I'm of the strong belief though our fullback next year is just a stop gap for Tedesco to make the grade be it Brown or Reddy.

Not sure if Tedesco will make the grade but I think that is the plan for the future.

Tedesco took the step up from SG Ball to NYC with no trouble finishing with some impressive stats in particular his kick return averages being the highest in NYC.

He needs to bulk up a bit and a full off season presumably with the top squad should fix that. Didn't work for Mullaney Yes…But I think Tedesco is different in that he is also a ball player and just has that football brain that you just can't teach. His seen his good mate Matt Groat make the step up and maybe it will be his turn next year.

Tedesco has been very impressive in the U20s games I've seen, you are right he needs to bulk up but that will come with a tailored program. He is a long term prospect in the meantime players like Brown have a chance.

Okay..I do not have much right to comment on Tedesco having hardly seen him. IS he really that good..Mullany outscored everybody in that U20s but he apparently was a bum..no good for this club. So what are Tedesco's chances ??

I think Tedesco and Mullaney are different cases.
Mullaney kind of came from no where, in fact Id say most followers of the junior reps would have thought Cody Towney would have been the fullback for the whole time Mullaney was, but Towney had some issues and Mullaney was really good in NYC.
He was a great support player and was well suited to a dominate team. He has played ok for BRET (TBF i haven't seen that much of him) but hasn't really dominated.

Tedessco on the other hand has been viewed as a superstar for quite some time now and the club has put time into fully developing him. He seems to be a more complete player than Mullaney, but more importantly the club is more invested into Tedessco than Mullaney.

I think Tedessco will prob get a game or 2 next year, but 2013 will be his season.

The difference is that Sheens seems to rate Tedesco very highly whereas Mullaney seems to not figure in Sheens's calculations as a possible 1st grader. I see Tedesco playing at least one trial as a sub and then back to NYC. If he shows potential we might see him blooded during the season. Sheens has a well established track record of playing youngsters in 1st grade.

The flying fish Glen Fishiiahi would be great he gets no game time at Warriors anyway.

Probably because he's injured 90% of the time.

wat about the warriors under20s fullback - omar i believe his name is, absolutely killing it

Yes he is. I don't see the Warriors giving him up too easily though. Whether he is better than Tedesco is also debatable.

Im a big fan of Omar, you have to wonder where they are going to put all these guys, they seem to have a plethora of future superstars.
Maybe we could do them a favour and take a couple off their hands

I agree … moltzen slotted in perfectly I would have much preferred to keep him the sign reddy grant and humble

One great game and what… 1 or 2 ok games?

Comeon ppl...

you've given it to him all year, now it is time to give credit where credit is due…..he has certainly had more than 1 or 2 ok games. He is in very good form ATM. Im not suggesting you have to declare him the next Billy Slater, but you have to concede he is going very well right now.

Tedesco is particularly strong in attack and backs up well especially around the ruck.

I agree with that.

Also seems to be a very good organising fullback, you can hear him yelling all sorts of instructions in both attack and defence.

I'd like to see him hit the gym hard and really work on his raw passing skills, he seems to pick the right man, but needs to work on the pass itself, both those things are easy to work on.

no he was injured for about 8 games but by then Kevin Locke was already the choice fullback. They tried him at wing but he was just no good. He carved up in the Auckland Vulcans scoring heaps of tries and being a good support player. he scored like two hat-tricks in a row at one point for the Vulcans and I remember the game he had against the Sharks which was his first at fullback.

Yeah the 90% was hyperbole… As I recall he was injured twice this year but I haven't been following his career overly closely.

I have given credit to him in recent games…

The game he played against the Dragons was superb, played very well and did everything a fullback should. The weeks leading up to it though, he played a IMO 2 other games that were solid knocks, but past that... what else has he done?

I am stoked he's playing well, I am also pumped he's hitting his best form at the right time of the year. I hope it continues. Nor would I put anyone else in the 1 jersey ahead of him...

I just laugh when people start using him in the same sentence, let along paragraph as Slater... then comes the "He'll play origin" comments... that is when I laugh.

i think tedesco will still be too young next year. he will get bigger as he gets older. let him rip it up in toyota cup next year. i think grant will start next season on the wing in nsw cup and brown will be our starting fullback in 1st grade, as long as he goes well during the trials. if reddy and beau ryan both get goes on the right wing during the trails and beau ryan plays better than reddy then reddy might be on the interchange come round 1\. sheens likes to have a back on the interchange and reddy is probably big enough to play a bit of 2nd row too. if reddy out-performs beau during the trials then maybe he will be right wing for round 1 and beau on the interchange. i think we signed humble as a backup player and he will probably play most of the year in nsw cup. he can cover a few positions.

I think they will look for an experienced player next year, I still think Lawrence is the answer. He was the Australian school boys fullback, he has power, speed and knows the structure of how the team plays,He knows how to run off a Benji pass.

Lawrence is the man !

Joel Reddy will be the first choice fullback and so he should be. I think if we have injuries then Humble might get a go as backup. I am 99% sure it won't be Lawrence , Benji or any of the existing NRL team.

Tedesco may get a chance late in the year but he probably deserves a full year of U20s and to get a bit older and bigger over at least the next 12 months

The three early candidates will be Reddy ,Ryan and Brown
Tedesco may get a chance later in the season
Same goes forGrant if he can learn the basics in a reasonably quick time
If we keep Geoff Daniela what are people's thoughts on him as a possible fullback
I suppose it is hard until you see them playing in the position first
