We've had some of the games greatest goalkickers in our Club (s). From Golden Boots Keith Barnes to Tony Ford (Kicks from half way went over the tall posts at Lidcombe Oval!) Len Killeen, Dave Barsley, Ron Giteau, Jason Taylor, Paul Conlon, Joel Caine (yep) Brett Hodgson & Pat Richards.

2016 Who will be our 10 point a game Man? Cos if we are to be competitive we need a goalkicker! Hazchem for Canterbury, Eric Simms for Souths, Langlands for Saints - who is our Go To Guy. Remember when Benji was taking the kicks how we cringed every time?

Who Can Kick Us to Victory?

Rankin?
Hunt?
Brooks?
Moses?

Rankin & Hunt aren't even certain to play 1st Grade. Come BACK PAT!

Moses will likely kick.

Taylor ruled out Moses apparently due to on-going leg and groin issues and that he will be doing a lot of the kicking in general play…

He certainly strikes the ball well....

Rankin has been doing extra's with Taylor on Goal Kicking after training...

Your last sentence GEO might give us a fair indication on what could be happening,I wouldn't rule it out completely….

It'll be Rankin or Hunt, whichever one gets the wing spot.

Moses is the best of the bunch though so it's unfortunate that his leg issues will prevent it.

I don't understand why goal kicking should be that tiring for him?? He's 20 years old if he gets too tired from an extra 3-4 kicks a game that's pretty strange

There's nothing worse than losing a close game because of goal kicking

What about Tedesco?

No doubt he would probably be a natural at goal kicking aswell but it would be asking too much of him to carry all the attacking load and then have to back it up every time with the boot. I was fully expecting Moses to take over goal kicking duties but apparently that wont be the case. I just hope we wont be fielding another player solely for his goal kicking duties (alas Richards) when there are other players who offer way more in that position.

I haven't heard or seen anything about any injuries or niggles that Moses has with his legs, and then suddenly his body can't cope with goal kicking? He kicks at about 85% which is what we need, not a fill in, and he'll play every game. If Moses can do general field kicking he can't be too injured, so why can't he kick goals too? What's the difference??

Sounds like when we had Dean Collis as goal kicking for us for a little while.
He was kicking them beautifully but then he could no longer do it due to injury.

Big Pat had a down year in goal kicking last year though, only hitting at 71.11%. That's slightly below average for NRL kickers going off last years percentages. Im hopeful whoever handles the duties this year can at worse finish roughly around the same %.

Who said anything about fatigue?

Moses and Rankin are both very good goal kickers. Rankin missed a couple of near impossible kicks in the trial and out came the wolves.

Referring to people saying that Taylor wants to keep his legs fresh in other threads

In the trial game against Melbourne it looked like they had everyone having a crack and one of them nailed s nice one from the sideline , rest look pretty average. Not sure who was kicking though.

Can't wait for the season to start :sign:
