Potential new $ 27 million concord base

“If I was a player and I was looking at some of our competitor’s facilities and looking at our current facility I would be second guessing whether or not I am going to be improving my football,” Pascoe said.

That statement tells me a lot about the man he is. Seems like a man who calls a spade a spade.

I love that honesty. No bs, no spin, just said it how it was. Gives you confidence that he isn't all talk and he will actually instill change.

In fairness, He's not the first CEO to mention this.
Our last one also complained that players prices went up 50-100k as soon as they saw our facilities.

Would be the 2nd greatest thing to ever happen to this club with Grant Mayer leaving being the 1st!

He also belittled and made childish threats to supporters on Social Media. He was a clown who didn't deserve to be taken seriously.

Pascoe is a professional, and he was at the Panthers when they began their re-build so he knows what needs to be done. Hasn't really put a foot wrong since he was appointed.

What the [This word has been automatically removed] has that got to do with what I said? - I was merely implying it has been common knowledge that our digs are embarrassing.
I found it interesting (so decided to share it) that we're paying so much more to import simply because we can't offer athletes the same conditions (Carpet and Glass) as the other teams.

The word "potential" in the thread title makes me shiver. We have heard enough of that word in on-field matters, let alone off-field.
Hope it's not just pie in the sky.

He did nothing about Farah according to some.

Both Pascoe and Go have mentioned it in interviews now. They must be pretty confident.

It sounds like somehow they've arranged funding on the Tigers side and all they need to do is arrange the State Govt to honour an existing commitment. Maybe Wests Ashfield will also use it as part of the club and are providing the funding? or Harry T could be invovled?

Either way, awesome initiative. Not as big as some of the other clubs, but it will still be nice and located right in the heart of Ashfield and Balmain.

… and thank god it's out of Leichhardt council area. Darcy and the greens would somehow find a way to kill it or stifle with excessive delays while spruking how much they love the Tigers. Even with them out of power at the moment, i feel they would somehow try to find a way.

Wasn't Darcy punted?

Yeah, re-read the last sentance mate.

Concord Oval was always in the Canada Bay Council which has now amalgamated with Strathfield and Burwood (not Leichhardt) councils to form the Inner West Council.

Not yet.
Strathfield appealed the amalgamation due to there being legal errors in the report or something.
It's still expected to go ahead at some stage though.

I'm aware of that. I live in the area.

What I'm saying is that it's good it's not in Leichhardt so we won't have a shambles with approvals etc like we did with balmain leagues.

I must be typing French today!

Is this the 3rd proposed centre of excellence for the Tigers…wow...can we just have one please!....

Silly, this is Wests Tigers. We'll eventually build a training facility at Concord, but it will be partially funded and shared with the Waratahs while Moore Park gets rebuilt, so we can only train there in preaseason. During the season the Tigers will train at a new Campbelltown facility at UWS, but not during university semesters when the boys will move to Liverpool, to a facility built for an as yet unnamed A league club.

Wouldn't be the Tigers otherwise.
