Potter Appreciation

cleanout is the easy part, still a long way to go.

Very true Bon , 2014 may not be a massive improvement on 2013 but hopefully we can set the wheels in motion and build a side which will be a strong unit season after season like the NRL powerhouses

The jury is out for mine. The team has massively underperformed this season. Injuries were not used as a reason for poor performance last season so lets not use that as a reason now Potter is coach.

If Potter is coach next season, I expect nothing less than Top 8\. Anything less than that and he should go.

Knuckles I think you are way off the mark!! I think next year will be another building year with the younger guys. I think Potter should be given an extension until the end of 2015 so he can show everyone what plans and structures he is going to put in place and let him have a real good go in the market place to make the squad a formidable outfit moving forward.

Verdict? The jury cannot even convene until he gets someone other than himself on the list of staff he would like. Impossible to judge a coach working with all the deadwood, both staff and roster wise, inherited from another.

He and Ivan cleary r the new breed of coaches

Cleary has been criminally underrated for yrs. Anyone who gets the Warriors to multiple final series, plus 1 GF must be doing something right.

He is going pretty well so far. I wouldnt call him a Bennet, Bellamy grade coach just yet though LOL….
He has had a horrid year and put out some average sides due to forces outside his control and they have won a couple of games. I still see no marked improvement in our defence as yet. He deserves more time though thats for sure.

On the topic of defence, does anyone know our average missed tackles this year? I remember it being around 35 last year

Isn't this where Royce Simmon's is earning his pay from? Salary review me thinks, cos it's not doing to well.

Pretty sure the clean out will continue to some degree on the coaching staff. The club has already said Potter will be given the chance to bring in his own people at season's end.

Was 36 or so last year. 28 according to nrl.com this year. 30 for the broncos. The NRL as a whole has dramatically improved defence in recent years. Interchanges need to be reduced to 8.

We've improved our rank a bit, 4th last instead of last but in my opinion it's in spite of royce and mostly due to potter.

I always said I would give him until around this stage of the season to see how he is going, and I think he is doing OK.

I like the way he talks straight at press conferences. Sheens was unwatchable due to his behaviour in front of the press.

I like the way he doesn't let the players run the club.

I like the way he seems to be building a solid foundation for the team rather than a shaky one, Sheens persisted with his philosophies way beyond their use-by date.

I like the way he replaces an injured player with another from that position instead of shuffling the entire team.

There are still a few things I'd like to see and we are yet to see his coaching style really emerge but I am happy with the direction Potter is taking.

However, I do have concerns about our attack without Benji because I don't see a lot of creativity apart from he and Farah. But I guess that is something to look forward to next year.
