Potter has no oomph

Potter wasn't the one dropping balls in attacking sets

and he certainly wasn't the one in the middle making incredibly bad referring decisions.

However, yes, our attack has gone downhill bigtime, but given the injuries and disruptions in what is a young developing side, that's not much of a surprise.

be realistic, Manly have been benchmark for 5yrs, with entrenched combinations. we are a developing side. We weren't that far off, we got screwed, had injuries, new combinations, players underdone. Cant fault the effort just the polish. I thought Sirro moved a step forward? Sue was great with limited minutes, Taupau outstanding, Lawrence good, Gavet & Halatau underdone, Nofo great. Plenty of upsides…..

Thanks for providing some glimmer of hope. And, you're probably right. There's been some development over the year and maybe it's just going to take longer than we thought to become a consistent, quality, competitive team. But ….that was a flogging last night. A lot of our comments are tainted by the extent of that loss. I thought we'd got away from that sort of result.

The problem in my opinion is that we need size to match it with the better teams, and we have size in Ava, Kapow and Gavet. The problem is that they are loose cannons. They lack class but they are full of agression. They run up out of the line, they run accross field, they play unorthodox and that creates holes.

However, when they were all on the field we had go forward and we had enthusiasm. These guys are classic rocks or diamonds….ok maybe not diamonds but really nice looking quartz.

I don't know if Potter is to blame, I still like him. Fact is we are still an immature team and it shows on the field. Too many penalties and missed tackles. You don't beat the best teams like that.

On the positive, I though Nofo, Sirro and Lawrence had much better games. If we had some second phase play and ran deeper I really thought we could get over the top of their second rate pack of forwards. However if you cannot complete a set you are not going to win games of footy.

I think that this is the most accurate post I have seen on the game last night. We need a big pack with those dynamic players to bust the line however some of those players have too many mistakes in them. I don't think Ava has the same amount of poor plays though as Taupau and Gavet.

I wonder what Potters like in the sheds and behind closed doors? Poker faced at media interviews means FA to me.

I'm starting to think you lot would swap Potter for Ricky Stuart.

After a win it's all about the players and after a loss it's all about the coach.

Yeh ava had a good game. Its seems to be Blaire Tapau Lawrence farah Richards woods simona lulia consistently making simple errors… That's too many players sooo frustrating..

im not surprised, alot of high demanding disloyal fans in this place..

potter has made some tough decisions and is working with an inherited squad…

he bought marty tapau, blake austin... some of the better signings we've had in years...

he's blooded simona, nofo, austin, moses etc..

we had a period earlier this year when i think we had 7 or 8 players who could have been in the FG squad out due to injury...

we lose a game to one of the stronger teams in the comp (who WE TOWELLED UP earlier this season mind you) on the back of some pretty big momentum shifting decisions (our no try, the penalties wuich led to their try, sirro gets tackled in the air no penalty it leads to another manly try).... and all of a sudden potter is no good?

we are already over achieving and no one had us in their 8 this year, we all knew deep down our squad is quite raw and a team of the future...

brooks isnt firing like he did at the start, he's getting use to the week in week out wear and tear of an nrl player... should we get rid of him too?

wake up to yourselves and be realistic...

guys we were never on that game after hayne gifted them an 18pt lead. Our combinations need time and we were playing premiership favourites. Patience pls, we competed for long periods but lack polish…. we are 1-2 yrs away from being genuine premiership threats....but from what i have seen we have more promises than any up and coming teams, despite our obvious weaknesses

I see ur glass is always 1/2 full, but can u put up with that crap for the next 2 seasons, on paper our forwards should have killed them not laid down like dog shit, they are a poorly coached side that fail to put in any great effort.

I agree sick of this bull$&@t mentality… In two years... The club has been saying that for the last 7!!!
Because its run by id$&ts like the initial wuote

Totally agree with all of your comments. Some on here just can't understand that despite the start we had to the season, it was never about winning a premiership, it was building for the future.

I have a few questions for our experts, and chosen Parramatta as they were in a similar position to us at the start of the year.

How do you think Parramatta will travel this year?

Do you see Parramatta's season as a failure?

Do you see their coach as a failure?

We just have no spark, flair or creativity in attack. And no hunger, desperation or grit in defence.
We had nearly a full strength side tonight, but some of our options with the ball and our defensive efforts were disgraceful. Yeah we copped plenty of dud calls, but the way we tackled tonight was embarrassing.

Nearly full strength????
Tedesco, moltzen, simona, anasta, Thompson, Fulton, and you must say Richards too were all missing from lastnight!
Results of that are having plodders like lulia in the team, and poor ol halatau in the centres who is far too slow!!!

he's pretty bloody good for a BACKUP centre….

did you expect us to pay 200-250k and get lafai to play NSW Cup in case lawrence/simona are injured?

This is my thoughts as well. I see Lulia cop it but geez as a back up centre he is good.

This was always going to be an up and down season with our young squad and questionable depth. I agree with a lot of comments that there have been many positives this season including the form and emergence of Brooks, Moses, Austin, Tapau and Gavet. There are also several shining lights in the NYC side so the future looks bright. Potter and the rest of the coaching staff deserve some credit for bringing these guys through and for the overall positive spirit that seems to exist within the club. However, I also agree that poor team selections and perseverance with players who are just not cutting it, does begin to erode team confidence. The weak rosters can't all be attributed to injuries nor can the lack of cohesion in attack. Some of this can be linked to questionable coaching. I hope we can, at least, be competitive for the remainder of the season.

I mean oomph -demeanour as a Toovey, Bellamy. Hasler, Arthur & co. FIRE in the BELLY
As s player he was always quiet & obedient -
he let his body do the talking.
Great player.
However last night Farah seemed more concerned than Potter at question time.
However that apart - & no relation to on field performance - Potter didn't do it to us - we were on a roll - we all saw how we could mix it with the best - but cruelly injury tore us a new one.
Shit happens.

I don't think we are going that bad considering the injury toll.

We competed at times in the forwards and in fact dominated Manly at times, however our halves are just not quite there yet. They fade in and out games and don't dominate our ruck. This is evident with our one out rubbish at times.

Having not seen much of Moses, he does look the goods and appears to have great lateral movement and a strong passing game. I personally think him at 6 will see us capitalise on more opportunities when we dominate other packs because at present young Brooks looks mentally fatigued.

I foresee turbulence in the near future for Mr. Potter.

Without doubt, their was a faction that wanted him out when the club was winning now they are plodding he is in big trouble. From where I sit Iam not sure if any coach could do a lot better but I could be way off the money

I thought the writing was on the wall when they brought Smith in to evaluate the whole place .. This was not a bad thing to do but I thought there was also a motive behind it, Potter having not signed yet does not pan well and it seems the longer this goes coincides with the teams performances , so there you go another conspiracy theory .The no Board excuse does not wash if they wanted him he would be locked up already!

Well said "stevied" I think all of us Tiger fans hope the team will be competitive and defensively strong for the rest of the remaining season. As for Potter there is a lot of ????? marks about his coaching and people skills. And i hope theres no more point blowouts against us either 😢
