lol.. this is really turning into a circus…there is a article on sportal saying completely the opposite...that Potter will be given an extention...

Is Gibbs having daily conversations with Mayer or is he just talking dribble? tomorrow he'll more than likely have a new story based on gossip.
 
Easy solution - assume that everything you read/see in the media is a pile of garbage.
You'll very rarely be disappointed.
 
Potter still the man?
The push by senior Wests Tigers players to oust coach Mick Potter is on the verge of back-firing.
After all-but sending Potter to walk the plank last week, the club is now seriously considering giving the embattled coach a new deal.
The Tigers' stunning win over the Bulldogs, coupled with a resistance against the players dictating terms to the board, have resulted in the backflip.
Chief executive Grant Mayer has also been put under massive pressure to back Potter from influential sections of the media.
If Potter does stay, there will be changes to the coaching structure.
Assistant coaches Todd Payten and David Kidwell are both likely to leave and the club is likely to hire a head of coaching to oversee Potter's work.

Never in my life have heard so much controversy in any sport concerning a coach who is or isn't gonna be sacked when the coach has so much support from the vast majority players (apparently) experts in the media and most importantly the fans. What a ferkin joke! There's absolutely no valid reason as to why our coach should be treated in this manner and no reason why he should be shown the door. I do NOT want Kidwell pulling the strings of my team. Certainly not at this point anyway. It's absolute B.S.

Dont assume we are all **believing** whats being said.
I think most take all this talk with a grain of salt

Yep, I know there's a number on here who don;t buy into media driven rumours - but there are, unfortunately, a number who do.

Blockers just covering his butt

If he says yes that he stays and we lose every game by 40 he will look a fool

Blocker also knows where some of his bread is being buttered ,doesn't want to burn any bridges either way :wink:

Hopefully I'm reading too much into it Happy.
The positive is that usually when players, the ceo and board publicly back the coach they usually end up being punted. No one has said a thing in support of Potter.
 
Its turning out like the Teddy saga. Hopefully doesn't go on as long as that. I don't want to read a hundred pages of "Potter" in the "contract discussion" section. The re-signing of a fullback was destabilising enough… the re-signing of a coach should be done quick and simple. Not played out in the media.
 
I was really happy when I initially read this thread, because our coach was getting his well deserved extension. Now I am back to being peeved with the reported goings on from our player, assistant, and/or management.

Get on with it, sign Potter for a year plus triggers, then we can concentrate on the run home.
 
I'm just hoping this is a massive stunt by the WT. With so many young players there's no better way of keeping the media at a distance than ongoing speculation about the coaches future. There is no. reason not to resign Potter apart from hearsay. No player has been quoted about wanting to get out of the club, if anything retention has never looked better. The on field achievements are greater than anyone expected. We were a mess when Potter took over and in a short space of time our club has regained its credibility. Potters track record as coach has never had him losing the sheds, if he was a bad communicator, it would have happened in his previous stints, ala Brian Smith. If this is all a hoax, GO YOU TIGERS, brilliant, you even have your supporters fooled, but if it is for real the Board and CEO have to come good and resign Potter. If they don't they should hang their heads in shame, because they are letting the boys club live on, but only if it's true.

I expect Potter resigned in the next 10 days. If he's not and we miss the finals, don't blame Potter, blame the Board and CEO for trying their best to bring our club down.
