Tonights episode has Johnny Gibbs sprouting Matt Parish as having a lot of support high up at our club….having previous links thru his dad yadda yadda

I wonder what tomorrows instalment will bring?

We heard the same when Parish was applying for head Coach before Potter got the job. hat time however it was from Allan Jones who coached his father at Balmain. It is ironic that both Jones and Hadley work at the same place but have vastly different opinions regarding Parish. I along with most Wests tigers fans say stick with Potter.

I know that an outrageous old queen who (allegedly) likes to surround himself with young footballers was pushing for Matt Parish and maybe he is still pushing, but I don't recall Don Parish playing for Balmain. It's very likely to be just my memory but I thought he retired from the Magpies and I know he later came back and coached them.

I am sure Don never played for Balmain.

God no not Parish,I could live with kidwell but lets see what Mick has in store this week.

Mick doesn't have anything in store this week. The players do. We can't expect a massive run at the business end of the season with such a young and inexperienced group. It's a maybe yes/maybe no year. Seems unfortunately people in high places at the club can't grasp that.

That should have read "Matt Parish played for Balmain whilst Allan Jones was coach". My mistake.

Maybe I'm naive about such things but I would not start bagging Mayer, or Tigers Management in general, yet. I'm on the record as a Potter supporter and I definitely want to see him at the Tigers but as McCarry has posted, we don't know the details of what is happening behind the scenes.
There are many players in this saga and no doubt a lot of deliberate mis-information is being trickled out to attempt to influence the result. After all, the OP for this thread was on 21 July and Mick Potter was going to sign that day or the next. He didn't. Now he's going to get the boot. That doesn't make sense given the team's results this season. So if he is going to be dropped it won't be results based, and will only be due to someones political agenda. Let's hope not, because if it is so, I think it will be terminal.
Otherwise the delay is down to (business as usual) machinations that come with renegotiating any contract. For all I know, Potter has already been offered a better deal elsewhere and now Mayer is doing everything in his power to find a way to retain him.
I hope he stays. He's a breath of fresh air in a room full of farts. Go Tigers!

Matthew Johns on Sterlo show had the best comment ever, the Tigers this year are probably going better than many people thought they would even despite having a massive injury toll, who ordered the review during the season and it seems like it was only done to find a way to sack the current coach.

I will not renew my membership if Matt Parish is on our coaching staff. He is a crap coach!!!!!!!

If Allan Jones (the worst coach ever in my 30 years of watching Balmain/Wests Tigers) recommends a person to coach the side, the red pen should go straight through that persons name.

I say it again, players that have played in sides were Matt Parish has been on the coaching staff hate the guy and don't think he has any ability as a coach, sounds just like the person our board will hire and fire within 12 months.

This is spot on.

I have no problems with Matt Parish and I certainly wouldn't write him off because Alan Jones recommended him. Alan Jones was also nowhere near the level of one T Lamb.

In saying all of that Potter deserves the job and that is where it should end. Give him 2 years at least.

It depends how much focus the review was on the coaching setup… if the review was widespread and including the administration, front office, marketing, etc..etc...etc...then okay....but if the focus was the coaching/training setup then its clear why is was commissioned.

It's been said a few times that the review was not about the coaching of Mick Potter per se, but rather the entire football operations of the club. Be that as it may, everything should be done to find out who leaked the portion of the review that did look at the shortcomings of the coach. It could only have come from a few people, surely. That person needs to go! It's destabilising to have this played out in the media. No other part of the report has been made public - only the small bit about Potter's coaching!
I don't know whether Potter can coach or not, but the performance of the team given all that has happened this year and given how we went last year, would suggest he has something going for him!
As I have said previously, and most people on this forum seemed to agree, that it was a 3 to 4 year project for Potter to turn this club around, get the roster that he wanted (given financial restraints), and put his own mark on the team. From my point of view, he deserves at least another year (and perhaps two). Only then can we possibly make an informed decision about his coaching abilities.

Robbie can't have to much love for R Stupid, he tried his best to get him at Parramatta, for a lot more dosh, in the it wasn't to be for love or money.

Parish had his name as a candidate for the coaching role at the WT last year, Farah wasn't to vocal on him getting the job. I think Robbie knows these to gigs are just that.

If Potter is dumped I won't be renewing my membership.

They won't get a cent out of me next year either. If Potter gets dicked, the next sacking that takes place should be that of the board.

I won't renew either, I believe Potter has done exactly what was required to earn more time at the helm.

Apart from Mayer, the only other person from within who has commented on Potter's situation was Blocker, who said it will depend on the results. So it would seem that they are in no hurry to sort this out.

For mine it seems that the same influence who didn't want Potter in the first place, and got Payten onto the staff as a concession, still have the knives out. Only excellent results will save Potter if that's the case and it probably will still only be temporary.

If Todd is saying "I'll move on if I don't get the gig", then I'd be inclined to let him move on. I think he needs more experience to become a good NRL coach and it will be more rounded experience if he learns at another club as well.
