3pm today how do you know that? I hope you are right. I think I speak for a lot of people that it has dragged on long enough. Announce the coach so they can announce some signings as well. Up the tigs!

That's getting closer to a confirmation I guess. Still no quote marks though. (Yes I may be refusing to see the obvious but i put $100 on Walters when he was paying $7.00 goddamnit!)

your not the first to judge by your kick and certainly wont be the last, we all do!

I was going to back Potter early in the piece and didn't, wish I did he was well into double figures at the time, altho not over the line he certainly has to be shorter than that now!

Just got an SMS from the tigers saying potter is coach and he is signed for 2 years more details after the press conference at 3 pm

SMS has just come through….about time the decision has been made...let's hope he has all the support he needs and can make his own mark. Welcome Mick...

Glad to have Mick Potter on board. None of the other names in the running gave me any confidence.

Mind you, I may not be so glad in a year or two…

The right decision.
He was the most experienced of the final three, and has had some success in England.
The other two may well turn out to be super coaches yet , but it would be too risky to take a punt on that.

There needs to be some context to the change in coach. For all the vitriol sheens copped on this forum over the years, I have serious doubts many other coaches would have been able to manage spending only 90% of their salary cap and maintain competitiveness the way he did. Let's face it, in a time where the storm rorted the system (along with most other clubs) successful clubs are always the ones with the deepest pockets. The only two yrs the tigers spent their full cap we made top 4 both yrs. every other yr we fell over at the death. Without the backing of a wealthy owner or leagues club, the tigers have always relied on sponsorship coming in on the back of playing attractive football - hence the ridiculous number of FTA games we have received over the past 5 years
Potter will need all the luck he can get, he may need to paint the gym again!

Whoever merged this post with this thread obviously didnt read it.
A very good post and thread thats been lost…no wonder i couldnt find it when searching.

QUOTED From INK

I understand that channel 9 want a team from Queensland for the other live Friday night game, but i think it's an unfair advantage how the Broncos get so much of an advantage over the rest of the teams. Why that game can't be more evenly shared with the Cowboys & Titans is disgraceful IMO. Obviously there a better rating team than the other two Queensland team's but when it's so lopped side, it's an unfair advantage with them having longer recovery time between games & being able to earn more money from corporate sponsors knowing their brands will be getting so much more national exposure compared to other clubs.

THE NRL will stage a Melbourne Storm-Bulldogs grand final rematch in a Thursday night blockbuster in round three of next year's premiership.

Channel Nine has chosen the Thursday night matches for the first three weeks, with the Roosters and Souths to open the season followed by the Eels and Bulldogs in the second round.

This column has been leaked details of an early draft of Channel Nine's free-to-air choices on Thursday, Friday and Sunday in the opening 20 rounds.

Again, the Brisbane Broncos will get more Channel Nine coverage than any other club because of the ratings they attract in Queensland.

It's understood 18 of their matches in the first 20 rounds will be shown on free-to-air on Thursday or Friday night.

Nine is obviously expecting the Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs to be highly competitive again because they have been given 14 free-to-air spots each.

The next best is Manly with 10 appearances.

The scheduling requests have come from Nine sports director Steve Crawley and Matt Callander, the station's head of rugby league broadcasts.

Surprisingly, Wayne Bennett's Newcastle Knights have been given only five games on free-to-air.

The Raiders and the Warriors have fared even worse withone game each.

The Cronulla Sharks, boosted by the signings of Beau Ryan, Luke Lewis and Michael Gordon, will get at least eight games. Nine is also expecting wooden-spooners Parramatta to improve under Ricky Stuart by choosing them for eight games.

The draw for the entire 26 rounds will not be finalised until the middle of next month.

Under the new broadcasting agreement with Nine and Fox Sports, full scheduling will be decided for the first 20 rounds.

Should Nine's early draft be ratified, the Broncos' domination of free-to-air games will be a major talking point among the rival clubs.

Wests Tigers have less FTA games next year hopefully that translates to less drawn out Sunday replay games featuring the Wests Tigers, good news as the Sunday replay ruins the game imo.

x2

So how many Friday night games and Sunday games do they propose ??

Working off last season 23 x 2 Friday Night games

3 x 1 Friday Night games (during SOO)

26 x 1 Sunday day games

Which adds up to 121 teams

The amount listed above by weststigers4life only adds up to 120

Sunday afternoon games = listening on the radio for me as i can't stand commercials when watching footy.
But if i lived in Sydney would be at the game , that's for sure…

I'm the same but just get a PVR/DVD Rec. & watch the game in delay,i don't start watching 9's Sunday game until 5 or 6pm and just jump over the ads & half-time BS.
