Potter's future

Face it there is no way Potter will survive… His legacy will be giving Marshall a new nickname "Benchy"

Yeh well, and if Potter does not survive, it probably means that the backdoor machinery that derailed this season won't be scrutinised and will still be in place. If Wests Tigers carry that kind of self destructive baggage, how long will they survive?

I think a decision has to be made either way. If we're going to keep Potter, we need to back him 100%, be united behind him and give him exactly what he wants. He needs to be able to pick his own assistants, he needs to have everything on his own terms. If anything goes wrong next year, he falls on his own sword. If we're not sure if there's anything he can do to turn this around, let's just punt him and look for someone else.

I just want this decision to be 100% and not half hearted. We've been screwing around for too long and have to take the all or nothing approach in this instance.

@Chris,you are right,Potter has to be given everything he needs to field a competitive NRL side,if he doesn't improve on this years performances ,then he will have to go ….but he must be given a chance with NRL standard players....

Potter was bought to this club for one reason ..that reason was the rein of Sheens was over and they knew that there would be a couple of seasons of discontent by the mega egos which is exactly what has happened .Unfortunately Potter was the fall guy that the faceless men needed.,and he probable new this but wanted a start in the NRL .This whole situation has been very sordid especially from certain types white anting for there own gain,I do not feel that bad for Potter he had a shot and it did not work out, He knew what he was getting into you would have to be very foolish not to, I just do not like the way this was all done very poor form by a lot of people including a lot of the player group very poor form and we will not forget next season when our membership packages arrive.

When Blake Austin was given a decent crack, he excelled. I reckon it will be the same story with Potter next year once the new board and GM are in place.

I was a Potter supporter but your example actually explains why Potter should pack his bags.

It took an injury to Anasta LATE in the season for Austin to be given a chance. He earnt the jersey in the trials imo….. not that Potter agreed.

I think that's a little unfair defiant. We had a rookie half and a fullback recovering from injury. The team needed some experience and stability, and Austin had to work his way into a new team environment.

As such Anasta had to get first shot at 5/8\. Whether we got value out of him is a different debate altogether.

Yeah agreed , if Potter can't motivate the team then he might be to nice of a guy to be a Coach.
We need a personality like Bellamy a Raven Lunatic , sometimes you see him going of at his players during his half time speeches from the sheds , To me Potter looks way to relaxed and feel players take advantage of his soft approach

If Potter gets sacked the fans should burn LeichHardt to the ground

As much as he has been treated very harshly , unfortunately the writing is on the wall , the 6 or whatever losses in a row it's been , will be the perfect excuse to get rid of him.

I want to know who in the Hell is making these decisions that those 6 players are surplus to requirements at our Club , Who ever is going to be the Coach next year has surely had a say on these players if not we are truly a Circus

Yep let's waste another year then sack him.
And in the meantime lets make a list of excuses for next season so we don't have to waste time once the season starts. Nice bloke but ….

Just for my clarification guys so Potters future one way or another will now be dictated by the new board and the Wests side of the JV ?

As the Balmain side now has no say in any of this as they have no voting rights ?

That is 100% correct …obviously there will be input from Grant Mayer which Marina Go stated in the presser yesterday...

Give him 1 more year with a fully fit side.

There is no likelihood that there will be no injuries next year. Potter has had chances to show whether he can lift a side from advsersity. Don't think so.

Agreed. If he is the man give him two to three years so we don't go through the same speculation next year when we lose a couple in a row. It's a distraction we don't need each year.
