Premiership Contenders

I concur with Laurie Daley as I heard him on NRL Fox that if we beat the bulldogs that we are genuine premiership contenders. Who in this instance does not agree with Laurie Daley? Its the first time I've ever agreed with him.

Hmmm. I don't know whether beating an out of form side makes us "premiership contenders". We just won 2 games at grounds notorious for being hard to win at, one of those a massive come back victory, the other without a halfback.

My mate said it best when he stated "your winning even when your playing average. Thats a good side". And its true. We haven't played our best football yet (although I thought we got close against the Eels), and yet we are 4-1.

I think we're already contenders.

You left someting out X….unlike you...

Wests Tigers v Canterbury-Bankstown, SFS, Friday 7.35pm (EST)

The Tigers have been very impressive this season in the way that they have moved the football around. The Bulldogs are down on troops but get Hickey back, which will give them a bit of size. Last time the Bulldogs had their backs against the wall they smashed the Roosters, so this is a danger game for the Tigers. I think we will see whether or not this Tigers team are a chance to contend for this year’s premiership, given their injury concerns. The Bulldogs will be stung by their performance the other night and with Todd Payton, Kieth Galloway and Tim Moltzen out for the Tigers, **I think Canterbury will cause an upset.**

So the truth of the matter is. Daley doesn't rate us at all. He's tipped us every week except this one. Wonder Why. Go Ennis...

laurie daley???
wins a premiership…..WOW
plays SOO......WOW
plays for the roos.....WOW
ends up on NRL on FOX..................KNOB!!!

I also agree Daley is the biggest knob commentating on Rugby League but i tend to agree with him on this one. If we can come out and put behind not having Keith, Tim and Todd it shows we have substance in the makeup of the overall team.
I also think we should be very weary of the dogs in their present calamity.
I can't help but feel negative about this match, i have to admit i felt this way last week as well. I think the last 4 years have conditioned me to expect the worst…., (make that the last 30 years)

i think the actual team would now feel they are contenders.
if you believe in it as a team you may just find an extra resolve in players to not stuff up or take the easy way out.
well i hope it does.

Yes Geo - he did tip the bulldogs, because he wants the tigers to prove him wrong and really be premiership contenders. that as the whole point of tipping against us. Deep down he is really tipping us a i think he wants us to get up friday night - its reverse psychology - im guilty myself

pfft. This early in the season nobody is a premiership contender, it's where you are from about Rd 18 that will matter. I compare it to Parra's 'club in crisis' talk going on at the moment. They come out and win their next three they will be talked about as premiership contenders also. In fact didn't this same thing happen last year?

we are looking good, real good at times and this is a better side than we have fielded before but again not consistent which concerns me, time will ultimately tell.

We were a premiership contender right from the start …..... even if we dont win on Friday night we are still a premiership contender. Laurie Daley was a great player but not much of a commentator.

Yes but this is also the man hwo last night sat and watched Joel Reddy elbow someone in the head and without a smile on his face say he didn;t think it was intentional?

A player could walk into the goal shoot the full back and he would put it down to over eagerness!

I don't, won't listen to anything that idiot says. I'd rather listen to Gus Gould and his ridiculous salary cap rants than Laurie Daley.

:brick:

well. it seems no one likes laurie daley, and I'm the same, never did like him, and for the first time in my life i think he is not right but not far from the mark - i think we'll be premiershp heavyweights if we beat penrif at penrif.

maybe in your opinion, but we were not premiership"heavyweights" right from the start and we are not premiership "heavyweights'' right now. We still need consistency. This has not been proven yet.

I heard a comment from Lawrence yesterday saying the team hasn't been playing well, despite the wins. He said they need to improve in alot of areas. Good to hear they won't be getting complacent.

In all seriousness, we should win tomorrow night.

Did Laurie mention the word heavyweight ? From what I read above I thought the word was contender.

I really hope so HT ….. I've never liked Canterbury ...... probably goes back to the Mick Luibinskas thing in the late 70's. After Manly they would be next on the dislike list :imp:
