I agree. Combine that with the noticeable lack of ball playing lock in the first trial and it seems Benji is going against having a skilful middle that can condense the opposition defence. This is madness and surely Luai wont stand for that. He has reaped the rewards of Yeo for years, it's hard to imagine he wouldn't want a lock that can free up some space for him.
Might see it when Bird comes on as a replacement said more than once he wants to play lock.

Waste of an announcement. It’s Bula, Klemmer and Olam that need explaining.
Bula said himself in January that he was going to be racing the clock to Round 1, so while I wish we had some correspondence, it's not really a surprise, it's just whether he'll be there come R1.

I'd heard that Olam was actually in line to play the first trial, but failed a fitness test on the Tuesday. clearly still issues and they've opted to put him on ice. I think he will still be there R1. it's a minor issue.

Klemmer though, no idea. weird.

Maybe AD at 7 is an indication he won’t be starting in the centres in round 1. Someone said a few weeks ago that To’a had been turning heads, now lo and behold he’s starting in the centres in our final trial. That could very well be our centre combo for he first round, pending Olam’s fitness. I think it also rules out Turuva playing centre. He’ll come in for Staines.

Gheez the club has been poor in regards to updating us on injuries. How are Jahream & Olam tracking? Luke Laulilii, Turuva, Klemmer, Luai any updates on them? Also why tha f is AD at 7 lol
Why give Newcastle a heads up for Rd 1 ...if they are fit they will start .....if not we need ready replacements

Don't understand the logic of Doueihi at 7 and Fainu on the bench.... AD isn't and never has been a halfback.

Hate seeing Twal at lock too. I don't mind him as a middle but he does not have the passing ability to play there

Benji is 5 years behind on moving the footy in the middle of the field. Lock is a position we massively lack
I think the logic here would be more about Latu getting used to that bench role rather than Doueihi being favoured. Benji probably wants Latu getting reps at hooker and lock as that’s where he will likely play coming off the bench during the season.

If Naden has another great game, Olam may find it hard to get back in. I'm assuming Naden & Skelton on the left with To'a & Staines on the right.

Hes having some issues with concussion so maybe wont be available fo a little while.
There’s rules around it now isn’t there ? If you have X amount in a short space of time you need a fair break . A mate of mine told me a kid in his JRL got stood down for the year after a few games because of concussion protocol .
I think there’s a higher duty of care and hyper awareness around juniors , which even though Luke has debuted he’s still a baby . He should be playing SG ball this year .

Please no - that is not what Latu needs at this stage of his development, he needs to be getting game time up in Cup. He has no idea at hooker and shouldn't be doing the defensive work as a middle this early in his development.

Will be good to see if Sione F and Kit L can push him out. the competition will be good for us - still potential for a late purchase to fall from the tree. From the looks of things we could punt Tumeth and not miss a heartbeat.

Push him to where?
- We just re-signed him for another 3 (4) years!!
Come on batboy, you are completely biased with that assessment.

I'm not sticking up for Seyfarth, jury is very much out on him IMO, but he has shown on many occasions he can promote the ball better than a lot of edge players, his line running is improving the more he spends time there as well. Your other points may have some merit.
Biased - how so, and to what end exactly?
I've no problem with Alex in the top 30 and he plays for my team.

His line running is improving - I don't get this - Ever!!
At what rate?
This is his 6th season in top grade - He came through as a Back Rower.
It'd be safe to assume he's been playing footy for 20 odd of his 26 years,
Professionally for the last six - and semi professionally for the 3-4 before that.

What am I missing?
He may well jump out of a box and shock me at some point in his NRL career....
But I'll bet my hump it's not at the Wests Tigers.

Hand on heart,
You telling me there's another team in the comp outside us in 2025 that has him starting Back Row based on what he's shown so far?
I don't see it.

TBH @Jolls I'd much rather Tristan Hope as our #14 in Round 1 given he can play hooker & lock. But he'd need to be promoted to Top 30 or Development list.
