I too was of the opion that Canberra had no soul, having been unfortaubate enough to live here on two previous occasions.
After a 30 plus years of Mrs Jolls being dragged around the country she decided, ater we purchased an renovated our retirement home, that se wanted ot relocate to Canberra where her friends were, I gave Mrs Jolls a brief after she made that decision; happy to move there as along as we live within walking distance of a pub that sold Reschs.
She found a home that met my criteria so had to move. My third time in the region and it has grown on me. You can't just rock up and make it happen though, Canberra isn't about the city it is about what happens around it. the burbs are great ansd if you really want a great time you need to head out of the city. Otherwise you are surrounded by uni students, officer cadets and deroes.
If you need guidance if you are visting give e a bell - not a local but have plenty of exerience in the big smoke of Canberra.
