I believe it's to do with how he handled himself at the Army Camp in Brisbane. the coaching staff were extremely impressed.

It will be interesting to see what style of play we chosen to go with from this position.

I agree this is all important, but Id be more looking to that in game 2 when our probable side is playing an opposition of the same standard.

Yes, irrespective of the opposition, these processes and techniques will provide a decent sample into how we have prepared as a squad this pre season. They dont need to be perfect, but there needs to be evidence that this has been worked on.
We were told last off season we worked predominantly on defence and to be honest, I thought those responsible with preparing the defence last year should have lost their jobs.

From our purchases I don't think we are trying to go the touch football route with 200 passes. WE have a reasonable balance of skills but a lack of depth in a couple of key areas. If Sione F has been training as an edge all off season and can make the transition I will feel a little more comfortable.

Any player vying for centre or backrower starting roles should be jumping out of their skins as opportunity to cement an NRL position is beckonning. Our incumbants have either left the club or are injured. Sam Fainu raised a hand last year...lets hope he kicks on. The other three positions are still fully open.

Tallyn needs to play nearly as many minutes as Api this year.
Its great news that he has impressed enough in pre season work to be given the C.

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch this game live as I will be at Jamala Wildlife Lodge (Christmas Present from SWMBO) so I will be avoiding the forum until after I watch the replay. But as for us being $1.77 favourites I can help you out here Hal.

I agree, more a 5/8.
Scares me under the contested high balls, I hold my breath we get a favourable bounce.
Must have changed over pre-season; I hope?

No mate, were in the lodge with the shark tank and a view of the lemurs. Price was up there but includes food and drinks plus a guided tour. Should ba a great experience. I'll let you know how it goes and if I think it was worth it. Cheers

I think that Tallyn needs to be an integral part of the team, simply because I expect him to be amongst our best 17 players. The hard part is that Api is definitely amongst that 17 and current captain, plus if fit. Latu is likely to also demand a spot.

Either way, I want the best 17 selected each week unless it creates a positional imbalance, and Koroisau is far from an effective 80 minute player. Personally prefer a dedicated 9 on the bench as I see the aging Api no longer having much more than 50 good minutes in him, but happy to be proven wrong.

I have high hopes for Tim Johanssen! Similar body type to Klemmer, but younger and faster. If his work rate is good he might find himself in a bench spot now that we have 2 other experienced props.

I remember back in the old days they'd play trials in country areas against country teams and you could just rock along.
The country boys would usually put on the biff against the city slickers.
One game I saw it was on big time until big David 'Nana' Grant went on for the Tigers on a demolition mission.🤣

David Grant you could never forget him big man not to be messed with.

Same. From the little I’ve seen Johanssen seems athletic more the modern type of forward. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the trial.

Father time spares none of us and spaghetti arms reached his expiration date when he was still at Newcastle.

Why the (you know what) doesn't he built those arms and chest up there is a brand new weights room now, surely the coaching staff can see it.

I think he can play, but he’s not a number 1 on past effort.

Only thing holding him back is the high ball, if that doesn't show marked improvement then that will justify the criticism on here of the coaching staff unless he just hasn't got it.

Ur kidding , he may not be the player he was beaking the line but we don’t have many better at defence .
