Projecting the Wests Tigers Round 1 team

I think we need to stick with Sue and Fulton as starters Run them til there buggered and bring on some fresh size ,speed and strength

Same with Keefy run him hard for the first 20 and bring him off until the last 20 and rotate Blair ,Taupau , Gavet and even Sue

My side

1 Tedesco
2 Nofoaluma
3 Lawrence
4 Simona /Lulia
5 Richards
6 Anasta
7 Brooks
8 Woods
9 Farah
10 Keefy
11 Fulton
12 Sue
13 Blair

14 Patterson
15 Gavet
16 BMM
17 Taupau

Give us heaps of defensive grunt early on and when the games opens up we bring on size ,strength and speed and work the Dragons halves and edges over

Just for interests sake I had a quick look back at the team we named for round 1 last year and I couldn't believe just how different the team will be next week possibly as little as 3 players named and in the same positions as last year round 1

Wests Tigers NRL Round 1 named side
Moltzen - out injured and wouldn't have been fb anyway
Koroibete - likely to be in NSW cup
Ayshford - gone to sharks and thank god after last yr
Lawrence
Utai - did he start again ?
Marshall - gone
Miller - gone early last year
Buchannan - Nsw cup
Farah
Galloway - May or May not play due to injury
Anasta - will play 5/8 instead
Fulton - May or May not play due to injury
Blair - one of only 3 who are sure to be in the same position

Matt Bell - Qld cup
Pettybourne - Wigan
Big Ben Murdoch - might get a bench spot but hasn't looked to likely
Bodensee Thompson - Might start or be bench

That's amazing… It shows potter has really changed the direction of what he was gifted last year!

aren't most NRL Player strong defensively in the opening 10minutes than the last 10minutes?

Wouldn't the better defenders be better to come on as we tire?

Won't matter if its 24-0 when they do come on , will it Watto ??

Its St Bore Mate!

Beer Round 2? [or pop in on your way through ]

Whether we would like it to be like this or not, I imagine our squad to look like this:

Tedesco
Nufo
Lulia
Lawrence
Richards
Anasta
Brooks
Woods
Farah
Tupau
Fulton
Patterson
Blair

Galloway
Gavet
Austin
Thomson

BMM will be pushing for a bench spot, perhaps taking Austin's place if Potter wants a bit more impact off the bench.

Based on last years form, Simona and Sue deserve a spot but I would give them time to build match fitness in NSW cup rather than rushing them.
Ava, Buchanen and Brown will add all the depth to the front row needed.

BRING ON DRAGONS! I HATE THE DRAGONS MORE THAN ANY OTHER TEAM I CAN"T WAIT TILL WE SMASH THEM

dont think austin will be there, but besides that i think you've got the squad pretty much EXACTLY right there

We just can't carry deadwood like last year.
In the trials Ava has been great I feel we have a better chance with him in the team rather than BMM and Blair both should have a stint in NSW cup.
Not a fan of Buchanen either but his only young so not as bitter and twisted on him

Think some are being a bit harsh on Buchanan. He started the year very well however tired towards the middle and did finish below what we were expecting. He came straight from the 20s and no one would have expected him to be in the team from round 1, let alone starting! We were decimated by injuries and he was forced to accept a lot more of the responsibility then he should of. A successful year for him would have been to play 5 or 6 games of the bench, that really was where he was at.

I don't think he should be in the full strength 17 either but think it's harsh writing him off before we've seen what he can bring in 2014\. A full off season as a genuine first grader would have been great for him. He is very fit and by all reports a brilliant trainer. If he makes our team ahead of guys like brown, gavet, Ava etc I'm sure it will be on merit

Assuming all are fit this is the team i think Potter will pick.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Lawrence
4\. Simona
5\. Richards
6 . Anasta (Works really with Brooks. Goes so much better without Benji)
7\. Brooks ( Not quite there but has Anasta and Austin to help him through)

13\. Blair (Dumb penalties after dumb penalties but back to playing near his best)
12\. Patterson ( We did not buy him to sit on the bench)
11\. Fulton
10\. Galloway
9\. Farah
8\. Woods

14\. Austin (Potter only ever raves about his class, he will be our bench utility)
15\. Taupau (A very good buy, i cant fault him, he has a dig. Canterbury attitude.)
16\. Thompson (Is playing a tough, high impact kind of game which i think is the plan)
17 Ava/ Gavat/ Sue

Looking forward to seeing what Austin, Patterson and Taupau bring to the team.

It's finally here, the first team-list day of the season.
I wonder if it will be out before 5pm

Given the injury report up on the Tigers website today, my revised Rd 1 squad is:

1\. Tedesco
2\. Koroibete
3\. Lulia
4\. Lawrence
5\. Richards
6\. Anasta
7\. Brooks
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Blair
11\. Paterson
12\. Thompson
13\. Gavet

14\. Austin
15\. Taupau
16\. BMM
17\. Ava
–--
18\. Galloway
19\. Fulton
20\. Sue
21\. Buchanan

The doc said all the recent niggling injuries - ie KG, Fulton, Nofa and Sue need some miles in their legs, hence why I've got them on an extended bench. Still a strong starting 17, although a distinct lack of experience in the forward pack without KG and Fults

He said Fulton is right to play as is sue…

Kg, nofo and Simona won't play until round 2

Wouldn't you prefer 30 minutes from Fulton and Keefy over 30 minutes from Austin and Ava No disregard to Austin or Ava intended

Without proper fitness they're at higher risk of injury. But that's why I also put them on an extended bench… If they get through this week fine and are feeling up to it then by all means have them on the bench.

Think this will be very close:

1-james tedesco
2-marika koreebete
3- Keith leilua
4- Chris Lawrence
5-pat Richards
6- braith anasta
7-Luke brooks
8-Aaron woods
9- Robbie farah
10-Martin taupau
11-Cory Patterson
12-Liam Fulton
13-Adam Blair

14-Blake Austin
15-james gavett
16-bodene Thompson
17- Ava seumangafi
18-bmm

I can't believe how many injuries we have. The most annoying thing is, as always, the return dates are pushed back week by week.

When Nofoaluma pulled out of the 9s the official wording was that he would be right for the trial. Here we are weeks later and he is still not right for round 1.

Is it that hard for the club to be initially honest with injury assessments? I'm no doctor and obviously I know things can change and recovery may be longer than expected in some cases, but this happens regularly with us.
