Are you saying the fan base was just those on the bus, what about the rank and file ?Lee/Justin would charge for the beer, gotta make a profit, let’s not worry about winning. Here's the only story I have about protests. Many, many years ago when my team, St. Helens were going through a really rough patch coach, Ian Millward (who'd won two titles before everything went up in smoke) was canned by the owner - Eamonn McManus. Millward was very popular with a significant number of fans and tried to leverage them to force Eamonn to give him his job back. Next away game in Hull the official coach made an unscheduled stop on the motorway and ... surprise, surprise ... McManus boarded bringing a ton of free beer with him. We journeyed the two hundred miles to the stadium together. I can't remember if we won the game. But we all got smashed and McManus won over the fanbase. Since that time Millward moved on to Wigan (where he almost got them relegated) and Castleford (where he almost got them relegated). McManus presided over the most successful period in the club's history with eight titles, several challenge cup wins, WCC victories etc. etc.
