I'm sure many of you new this but i only just found out last Sunday ( 2 Days ago )that Queensland don't have a Public Holiday on the Queen's Birthday well they do but not until October.
Some of my work colleagues that live in the Queensland side had to have yesterday off cause there kids Child Care Centre they go to in NSW was Closed yesterday.
Which really the Queen's Birthday is the 21st of April .

It raises the question why doesn't Australia wide celebrate the same Public holidays together ?
Another Public Holiday in the Brisbane City is the Ekka which is the 15th of August 2018 and Queensland Celebrate the Queens Birthday on the 1st of October which is a Labour Day in NSW.

Then we have the Daylight Saving time which drives me insane :brick: :brick:

That's easy FT

When the WT's win 15 games straight and we win the GF , you and I will be able to drink for about 2 days , get blind drunk and it will be a public holiday on the Monday

We have more chance of signing Messi than Wests Tigers winning 15 straight

Queenslanders are very very special

Looking at you happy !
Put the toad down mate !

Seriously though , one of the major reasons was because the GF is on Sunday , we don't have a Public Holiday for that like NSW

Don't forget "Gold Coast Show Day"

And ACTUAL holiday on the Gold Coast.

I nearly pissed myself laughing when I found out that was true.

Gladstone Show Holiday 8/8 same date every year now bar if it falls on a weekend

Queensland is broke and in massive debt every day will be a public holiday before long .Queensland beautiful one day BANKRUPT the next!

We should have Grand Final Day and forget the Queen - she has already taken down pics of her coloured granddaughter in law. Maybe Philip gets excited when he sees the pretty young thing (though never mentioned is older than Harry)

Probably just a loose house cat.

Katoomba is a very interesting place, shop there every weekend and it's got a strange duality about it. Get up there early and you see all the tourists and retirees getting out and about and the place is friendly and bustling. Go later afternoon it's a lot quieter and the drug addicts are out and about having woken up from their meth induced comas.

All the public holidays in Australia are inconsistent. Queen's Birthday, as you would be aware, isn't actually the Queen's real birthday and not only is it different between NSW and QLD, WA celebrate it in September.

NSW actually cop the short straw on public holidays - we have one less than most regions in the other states. This is because NSW has no equivalent of a "royal show" or "regatta" or "Melbourne Cup" holiday. We have a bank holiday that is only observed in the Finance industry.

Tasmania and Victoria have the best deal overall - they get all the standard public holidays (Labour Day in Tassie is called "8 Hour Day"), but can get one more holiday in addition. In Tassie, some industries also get Easter Tuesday. In Melbourne, they've got both the Melbourne Cup holiday and the holiday attached to the AFL Grand Final weekend (called "Friday before the AFL Grand Final").

It does happen that NSW's Labour Day and NRL GF are the same weekend (intentionally I believe), however Victorians get another Labour Day in March, so they are always ahead.

NSW should, IMO, get Melbourne Cup day, because it is almost as big here as it is down there, and is the other major obvious public break.
