IMO its a misinterpretation of my earlier post.

PJ, swearing is not on thanks. That has been made very clear, and your continued derided attacks against me are also not appreciated thanks. Please post constructively as I am sure Kul intended for this thread. If you have particular issue with me, take it up with me privately.

I thought you handed in your badge willow? you were going pretty hard in the paint against Kul at one point recently.

That's a separate issue. The forum has changed somewhat over the years and has always relied on moderation as not everyone who joins on here, respects or plays by the rules. As an FYI when someone is banned, a reason is given and despite what some people on here may think about me, I can justify every permanent banning I've ever issued. Having said that, I'm not the only one responsible for that. We attempted to relax our stance earlier this year as some users started to swear more and more frequently, but that didn't work - members complained that it was degrading threads, and we (the moderation team) agreed so we went back to sticking with the rules as they currently are. We don't want this place turning into the forums on LU, that would really drive members away. We sought support from Kul, but he hasn't responded to us for reasons unknown. I'm sure he's busy with other things though and is enjoying life in Europe.

Yes, it's Kul's forum, no one is disputing that, but there has been no discussion from him regarding a relaxing of the rules or otherwise. So until that happens, we will continue to moderate within those rules. Admittedly I let my frustrations get the better of me last week and I regret that, but this place can get pretty depressing during the offseason, particularly given the way WT finished the season. It left a sour taste in many people's minds I feel and we have had more and more members having a go at one another - that's naturally going to deter people away from the forum. The upvote/downvote system also played a part in that which I suspect is something that has annoyed Kul - maybe I've annoyed him too, I don't know.

Sticking to topics is another reason why people lose interest - the signing and rumours thread is the best example - not a lot of substance in there and it's probably the most popular thread as we're all keen on reading who the latest potential signing may be, but there's very little quality content in there and every time we ask people to stick to topic, or clean up posts which are just spam, it degrades the very next day.

I spend a lot of time on here and because I delete a lot of posts that either contain swearing or involve personal attacks against other members - and some of those are ban worthy in accordance with the rules. This probably paints a bit of a target on my back because I've been on here a long time.

We have no idea what changes Kul has in store for the forum. It would certainly be nice to know as this thread has already generated a decent amount of comment and I think all members on here would like to continue to be a part of the forum moving forward. Let's see what the future holds, hopefully Kul can shed some light on that soon.

Honestly, that's a bunch of pearl clutching rubbish with a side of passive aggressive for Kul.

Who do you think you are protecting from swear words? or threads going off topic? How many actual DM's have you got from someone complaining about a swear word vs how many people have literally left the forum because it has become stagnant and ridged.

Threads being "derailed" is another prime example of over moderation. If people are talking about Brooks in the signings thread its because there are no signings. Very simple. If Wests make a signing the conversation comes back to the signing BUT what I think you are missing is in the interim, the thread has interaction and kept people posting.

If people want specific details only go follow Wests twitter and wait for news.

No racists / homophobic or doxing. the rest will work it self out. If someone can't handle that then maybe the internet is not for them or they can go start safeplacewestforum.com.

I have a slightly different opinion.

There are plenty of places to go and discuss the Tigers. LU, FB, Reddit, Demps Discord and probably others. What made this place a bit different was it was better behaved and more civil than the others.

Wests Tigers are a football team and as a result and loved and followed by a lot of kids. My kids were on this forum. I dont see the problem with having a reasonable standard that can include fans of all ages and genders for that matter. **We just successfully chased out the only female on the forum.**

Why not have the standards kept here as a point of difference from LU/FB/Reddit/Discord? Why be like all the others? So you can swear?

We? I have no idea of what or who you are talking about. To be honest I don't care. ***What's gender got to do with footy chat?***

Its got nothing to do with the subject of the chat, but surely the forum is a better place with a diversity of people and views making a contribution? Or should this just be an echo chamber of all blokes with the same background, thoughts and opinions? We already have the Luke Brooks thread for that.

>Stop making drama where there is none.

I'm making drama? I misinterpreted this thread as a discussion of what is wrong with the forum and suggestions for what could be done to improve it. An hour ago you made a very well expressed and eloquent post expressing everything that YOU thought was wrong with the forum and what needed to be fixed but because my opinion of what is wrong and needs to be fixed is different to yours....I'm "making drama".

That kind of call out is a big part of what I dislike about this forum lately.

You made a point and said the poster was chased out of the forum without providing detail or context. ***To make it more provocative*** you made sure to mention it was a she. ***You also included everyone, like there was a collective effort to "chase her out"***. This is creating drama.

Mate, with respect you are projecting massively and fighting things that are not there. I wasnt trying to make anything provocative or creating drama. I was talking about the fact that having higher standards with regards to swearing and behaviour makes the place a more attractive and suitable place for a wider range of people including kids and women and it just so happened to be at the time (coincidence) that the only active female poster here left.

I didnt add detail because it was pretty public at the time and I try to keep posts short of War and Peace, but for context the detail on her leaving **is she got into an argument with a few here. She was not blameless, she definitely played her part and in the end she decided that she wasnt enjoying being here anymore and she left. As I say, she wasnt blameless and IMO she made a mistake** in one post but she has been an active and valuable contributor here for along time and as the only active female poster it was the first time I can remember that it was a problem.

Again, Im not making a point about her and not making drama. Simply stating that by having a good standard of behaviour here, we can make it accessible to a wider range of people.

Again, I have know idea on why the women left but if she was harassed for her gender, of course this is not on and there should be repercussions. If she left because she didn't like a posters opinion...ce la vie.

She wasnt harassed for her gender, she didnt leave because she didnt like the posters opinion. She left because of the change in the tone of this place and I understand it frankly. She had been here a long time and was a regular and good contributor.

Huh...So she wasn't chased out hey? She had a disagreement. May have been wrong. May have been right but made the decision to leave. Ok. See how that's a bit different to what you wrote in context to the discussion in the thread?

It seems to me that in your efforts to win an argument with me, you may be missing the point I'm making and inadvertently strengthening my point.

My original post that you are referencing doesnt say anything about the disagreement. My post is totally about the change in the tone of the place, the aggressive argumentative environment that has risen here and specifically my original post was about behaviour standards here, not that specific argument. By we I mean we, all of us, not the people in that particular disagreement. WE have created an atmosphere/environment/culture that compelled/chased/caused/convinced (chose your own verb) the only active female here to leave. It means nothing that she is female (it just meshed with the point I was making) but the same thing has also caused a number of other longer term posters to do the same. I recently took a break from here for the same reason.

If you want to get into semantics, no pitchforks were involved, but I firmly stand by my comments.

Look, you seem like a good kid who got something wrong. It happens. How about you go back and delete that from your posts and we move on?

Will I get a pat on the head?

You've only been on the forum for a hot minute. Have been banned already. Have made the Covid thread unreadable and then post blatant mistruths in this thread. If I was to do a poll of posters people want to hear less from you'd be right up there but you say " we" have created this environment. Interesting.

Well done, you've made an exclusive lists of people I block. For a long time it was one, now he has a roommate.

It's a function I recommend people use.

Spot on

And could someone perhaps suggests how to block an anonymous person who downvotes you for anything and almost everything?

How come you are so confident it is just one person targeting you?

I don't know what your intentions are by asking this question, but it's just wonderful now that we are able to hear your thoughts, and not just having the ability to pressing a button that could have many hidden offensive meanings.

Mate I’ve given out maybe 3 downvotes the whole time the process was in place and I don’t believe that any of them were for you. I’ve always quoted people and given my opinion or asked questions.

What’s my intention? I’m wondering why you feel someone is targeting you when the whole system was anonymous.

The problem with this forum, and it has been a problem for more than a dozen years now, is that it is the meeting place for club shills and happy clappers. Everyone else is made feel like they are on borrowed time and/or not welcome.
This club has not seen enough success for people to fight to the death defending it.
Believe it or not I and many others consider those who get stuck into the club, trying to hold the administration, coaching and players accountable for disaster upon disaster are just as big, if not bigger fans than those who blindly follow along.

Swearing is not the problem on here, having an opinion that differs to and does not tow the club line is so thoroughly and aggressively attacked that it has introduced what is the biggest problem on here…bullying. Gangbangs are the norm. The pile on often swift and furious. If you dare to argue/fight back, the DMs start flowing to the mods that person X is a trouble maker and from then on your papers are marked. It has been happening for a long long time and all of the worst perpetrators have been prominent in this very thread.

You can bash places like Discord, League Unlimited and others as cesspools all you like. At least those forums believe in diversity of opinion, embrace originality, respect that everyone has something to say and afford posters the ability to express themselves as real football fans do.

I for one have never had an issue with someone bagging the club, I might not always agree but this club has not been in the finals for 10 years so I can understand why people want change, some of the mods and regulars post about wanting change as well.

Thanks for that mate, but your not me and i know whats happened with me and others here, those people who were relentlessly, insanely attacking others for no reason must be feeling a bit depressed, now that their favourite button has disappeared, cheers.

I hope you are really ready to hear what people actually think. I worry you may not be.

In the past you would have been hit with a downvote for these paranoid kind of posts. Now people like myself will tell you in actual words that you are coming across as very paranoid.

No offence but im sure others are reading it the same way.

As i said to another member today you cant please everyone. Not everyone in this world will like you. Thats not bullying its just the way the world works and there is nothing wrong with that, or you.

Words may be more damaging than a simple down vote so ill be watching this space. I wont be commenting or quoting you again, simply posting as a heads up that things are not suddenly going to improve because their is no down vote button.

Its an interesting take. I say interesting because what you have said completely mirrors my thoughts but from 180degrees. I dont consider myself a club shill or happy clapper and can see many things the club is doing wrong, but if I was to express what you are saying here, it would be that I feel attacked/bullied/ganged if I or others have something positive to say. Could both of us be right?

Swearing is not the problem on here, having an opinion that differs to and does not tow the club line is so thoroughly and aggressively attacked that it has introduced what is the biggest problem on here…bullying. Gangbangs are the norm. The pile on often swift and furious. If you dare to argue/fight back,

Again this mirrors my feelings but from 180degrees. Replace "club line" with "the mob rule" and it expresses the way I feel if I express something against the mindset of a certain group here or god forbid express if Brooks does something good in a game.

Im not saying Im right you are wrong but is there anything to consider in that people feel this way from both sides?

>the DMs start flowing to the mods that person X is a trouble maker and from then on your papers are marked.

Are you certain of this? How would you be aware of the subject, content and recipient of a DM?

>It has been happening for a long long time and all of the worst perpetrators have been prominent in this very thread.

Name names or it didnt happen.

You can bash places like ***Discord***, League Unlimited and others as cesspools all you like. At least those forums believe in diversity of opinion, embrace originality, respect that everyone has something to say and afford posters the ability to express themselves as real football fans do.

Im not bashing Discord at all, people can do what they like but there does seem to be a division happening. There does seem to be common thread coming from members of the discord. This is not a criticism of Discord or the members there and here but I do wonder whether it creates an echo chamber of people disgruntled with things here that when they get in that echo chamber the issues become distilled and magnified. Please note this is not a criticism and they may be 100% right or 100% wrong, I dont know but I'm looking for a discussion on why this apparent dichotomy exists where both " sides" of this discussion feel the same thing.

By the way, I'm seriously not looking for an argument here. This thread could provide a really good opportunity for everyone to discuss and investigate what is going wrong here at the moment as it seems that the only thing everyone agrees on is things are not right. Hope the thread can continue in that vein.

Seriously, you’d think there were threats of violence the way some of you are carrying on. I’ve been on here over 10 years, and while I think the mods have gone over the top at times, they’ve never told anyone what to say or what to think in regards to the club.

Thanks for that mate, but your not me and i know whats happened with me and others here, those people who were relentlessly, insanely attacking others for no reason must be feeling a bit depressed, now that their favourite button has disappeared, cheers.

You only came on my radar once you made a entire thread to cry about downvotes. Ever since that day it's been my duty to downvote you every time I remember.

I'm only telling you this because you seem to be a little off tilt thinking about offensive reasoning behind downvotes. I did it purely for a small the small giggle it gave me and to be more honest, I'm missing the function reading what you are posting here.

Seriously, you’d think there were threats of violence the way some of you are carrying on. I’ve been on here over 10 years, and while I think the mods have gone over the top at times, they’ve never told anyone what to say or what to think in regards to the club.

I'm one of the most negative people on here but i've never had the mods tell me to stop.

There’s a common theme amongst those complaining about the mods, and that is most, if not all have been banned at some point. It’s human nature to get defensive and think you were unfairly treated when that happens, but 99% of the times if you get banned, it’s justified. Especially when you get posters who have been banned multiple times. When that’s the case, chances are it’s you.

"Bigger fans"? "Real football fans"? No such thing. There's just opinions. I personally think it's insulting to everyone to suggest that being in one camp or another makes you more of a fan.

Wests Tigers aren't the CCP - they are almost powerless to stop criticism, and if anything the club cops more criticism than they do commendation; understandably so. The sum volume of commentary directed at Wests Tigers certainly doesn't lean towards favourable, so I struggle to understand how this forum may some how be a magical last fortress of the "shills and happy-clappers". This forum is not an official offshoot of the WT club, nor is it policed by the WT club - they have no power over it.

The difference between LU and this forum isn't that LU embraces diversity or appreciates all expression, it's that LU literally doesn't care about you at all.
