Yes tonight's win was great and I'm stoked , but don't forget they had Isaac luke missing and lost a heap of go forward , yeah we had woods missing but **Farah wasn't a great loss IMO** .
Souths were flat tonight and the game next Friday will be a test to see if the boys can back it up !
Let's enjoy the win !!!!

So our captain and Origin hooker and vice captain is not a great loss??? Everyone really underestimates the value of Farah and unfairly so, imo.

Other than that, I agree with your sentiments re tonight, Hobbo. Souths were extremely flat, they really had nothing. As far as our season so far is concerned, it has been atrocious and whilst I'm stoked at our win tonight, it's just one win, so there is no backflip in opinion from me at this stage. Hopefully, they can keep it up for the rest of the season, then I'll be happy to say I mis-judged Taylor and his tactics.

So let me get this right in my own head for a second

So when we play well its the players ??

When we play bad its the coach and his tactics ??

I'm guessing that following that logic Taylor will be so angry he will drop the entire side for not following his directions ??

How about JT and his structures going out the window and what a difference it makes.

errr no, the structures simply worked tonight.

noticed how we still played one out and kicked long?

we still played very boring footy until the points started rolling in. problem is in previous weeks we'd let them score 20 points and our passes wouldnt stick/attack would be flat cause we're down 20 pts

Yeah we still played Taylor-ball. But with the forwards dominating, the halves getting time and a quality centre pairing we had half a chance against a side missing some key players. We have defended pretty well for the most part this year, but when he have an attacking game to complement the defensive effort it makes a huge difference.

Souths thought they could one-out it all night and the points would come. They never got in the game, and it didn't help especially having an underdone Reynolds there. They may have gone better without him.

Lawrence is on a huge wicket for what he does, but by golly does he look better in the second row. Great to see Nofoaluma get a meat pie first game back.

Midfield bombs are designed to give our defenders time to get set while they're running up field. After ever bomb was kicked I noticed how quickly our defensive line was set and they all ran up field in one line together. Some were howling the kicks, I think it's a good ploy. I wonder how many other teams start adopting it.

The big difference tonight was that they went mostly where they should've for weeks, to the corners, not just anywhere.

That's my opinion on Farah flip , Halatau was great tonight until he got injured .
Cherrington was sharp from dummy half despite getting steamrolled a few times in defence .
I'm long over Farah , yeah he's our captain and skippers the blues .. So what !
Farah makes a ton of tackles but when was the last time he steered us to victory ?

I don't think there has been a backflip.Tonight was an improvement but there were still plenty of deficiencies. Souths play black dot to black dot which saved our halves in defence. Tapau's game highlighted (when he moved away from the structure) he should be running wide of the ruck which most fans have been asking for. This team is capable of something special & hopefully Taylor can take them there but he needs to be able to play to our strengths & isolate our weaknesses.

Hobbo, I dont agree with yout anti Taylor for a second, but will back your Farah assesment to the hilt. The guy is still a great player, but a very average DH. I would try to make a space for him in the team on his footballing quality alone, though Cherrington, I dont know whether it is his responsiveness to direction from the halves or the crispness, but damn, has shown Robbie up as a Hooker in a big way without being super special.

I disagree… Robbie is always a great loss to our team when he doesn't play.
Yes Souths weren't at their best, but our boys were, that's why we got the win. Congratulations to the team, JT and the rest of the coaching staff. :sign: WOOHOO

Did Taylor arrange for Souths to play like we have been? we dropped the baby stuff tonight and most of the team had a go for a change. And it worked.
If we had of played like we have been doing . You would have been saying give TAylor till the rest of the season to see his great vision. But because we won. Everything is great

Just remember guys, we played like this in the first few games and then fell into a hole where we played like Souths tonight. I'll be happy to give Taylor credit when we can play like this for a few weeks , not after one game

Some people will only ever see what they want to see. Some well im just not sure what they see.

It wasnt Taylor-ball tonight, it was Taylor getting somewhere with his structure.

There were some subtle changes, dummy half engaging the markers before passing, halves changing the direction of the play back to a forward on the opposite side to the way we were running. There wasnt any of the old four one out under 7's type runs of the previous weeks.

Credit split 50% to the forwards for finally stepping up and also for Taylor tweaking it.

I didnt mind the bombs tonight, they arent out of place if the lead up set offers enough variety.

Geez Hobbo, did Farah pinch one of your girlfriends in a past life or something

We defended better (still not great , but we scrambled well and our slide worked ) got the ball in better field position so we had more chances to attack

Souths weren't great , but was that mainly due to bad tactics from Maguire and our pressure ??

He saw the Cowboys game plan and went with that missing both Inglis and Luke from his spine

My other point is having centres makes a massive difference to this side it creates opportunities for Brooks and Moses which in turn creates for everybody else

Yep, still stuck to the structure, just executed far better and defended with some sting.

Exactly. We got off to a blinding start but after Nofo bombed that try we lost momentum & had to get into the grind with souths. That structure or mindset is what really kept us in the game. Big difference this week though as some have said, our defence held strong, we made good metres, played with intensity & took advantage of the platform our forwards laid.

Beautiful to watch.

Best thing Taylor has done all year was target Reynolds, Walker and Johnson.

We put our best big and powerful guys on them and they came up short, short in stature and short in game.

Its a real issue for them going forward, they cant tackle those lads

Edit; Well not without Inglis in and around them.

Take a second to digest this before responding, but if you re-read your post do you think you are agreeing with me from weeks back that the difference between what you have isolated and weeks gone by is Farahs rendition of Taylors plan is the difference? As if Farahs close to the ruck rendition has our props murdered, and with a little more injection from the halves we are much more dynamic, ala Cherrington?

Dont hate the plan, hate the rendition is all I am saying…

Could you even add Woods to that , Ava ,Lodge and Sue seem to get quicker play the balls and with Woods dominating our sets of 6 at crucial times with his hit ups could this be causing issues at times

This Thread is …

We executed the game plan for 80 minutes for the first time this season and flogged the reigning premiers 38-6.....the end...
