Racing tips, talk etc

Ok, out of left field.

I work on a thoroughbred stud in Victoria and amongst other things, we foal down mares, raise the foals and prepare them for the various weanling and yearling sales around the country.

I fell in love with one of our yearlings and bought her before she went to the recent Inglis Premier sale.

By Rich Enuff out of a mare called - Tiger’s Girl!

Anyone interested can see her photos and parade videos by searching Inglis Premier Sale 2024. Lot 567.

I’ve paid $7k for her and it will cost about $4k to break her in, so a 10% share would be $1,100. Or a 2.5% share would be $275.

It will be about a year or so before she gets to the track as a lateish 2yo, to be trained by Craig Weeding at Wangaratta.

Agistment for the next year or so will be about $25 per mth per 2.5% share, with the usual vet and farrier bills - say $30 per mth. The first agistment month just finished.

If ever you’ve wanted to own a racehorse I’m happy for any of the Tiger community to come in.

This is not a syndication. Me and some mates own a filly who ran in the AJC Oaks a couple of weeks ago and they’ve come in too, so she’s almost covered. About 25% left - or I’ll keep the rest lol.

If no one is interested that’s fine. I just thought a well bred filly out of a mare called Tiger’s Girl might interest a few of the racing diehards here 😊

Send me a message if you are interested.

If not - suggest a name for her! 🙂
Have you named her yet @Mac ?
Tigpies?
Benji?
9th?
Will win again? Including the question mark.
Could all be good names. I like Ninth.

Australia’s greatest sprinter, the unbeaten Black Caviar, has sadly passed away after a short battle with laminitis.

The 18-year-old winner of all her 25 starts – 15 at Group 1 level – was humanely euthanized at the Scone Equine Hospital in NSW on Saturday morning shortly after giving foal to a Snitzel colt.

Connections released a statement to confirm the death of the horse none could beat.

An emotional trainer Peter Moody, who was at Caulfield, said that the news of her passing hit him hard.

“You don’t think it affects you,” he said. “But you are being stupid not to think it doesn’t. It’s impossible not to get attached to most animals let alone one like her.”

Moody explained there was no chance of saving the fastest horse Australasian racing has ever seen.

“She had a milk infection about a week ago and we just treated it like you do with all broodmares, But, like a lot of treatments, it went straight to her feet,” he said.

“Basically, it killed her feet.

“She had the foal this morning, a colt foal by Snitzel and they put her down shortly after that on humane grounds.

“They scanned her feet yesterday and there was no blood flow at all to her feet. There was minimum blood flow to her feet anyhow but there was none and she’s such a big girl.

“I rang all the staff and told them. They were all very upset.”

In all, Black Caviar had 25 starts over a four-year period from April, 2009 through to April, 2013.

She won in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and famously in front of Queen Elizabeth at Royal Ascot in 2012.

Black Caviar amassed almost $8m for connections.

Her and sunline were two champions both died due to laminitis

Bad luck BF, but shows your selection criteria must be ok so one coming to you soon.
I don’t play multiples preferring win only but had a losing day yesterday after a good winning day on Wednesday.
The old up and down of the punting game.
But we love it !!
