Rate our pack !

Broncos: McGuire/Petero/Hannant are all quality props and could all lead their pack (plus some bench options who have a bit of experience)
Dragons: Hunt/Merrin/Weyman: 2 origin reps and Hunt would've probably made it too had he not had his injury
Warriors: Matulino/Lilyman/Rapira/Packer: easily the best front row rotation in the competition 3 internationals and an origin rep
Cowboys: Scott is easily the best prop in the NRL, they also have Tamou and Bolton who are very reliable players and have been for years.
Eels: Mannah/Moimoi are bother class and if he can get back to his best, Justin Poore is a quality player. Again, they have experienced back up options
Panthers: Maybe not

Throw in the Raiders: Shillington/Lahrs/White have all played origin and Tilse is a quality front rower.

Fact of the matter is, if Galloway goes down, we're relying on a bunch of kids and Matty Bell (who was the 4th best prop at the Panthers) to carry us in the front row. These other sides have 2, 3 even 4 players who are capable of leading their pack. The fact that of the 9 props listed 4 haven't ever played first grade footy, another one hasn't played top grade in over a season and another 2 don't even have 20 games to their name, our depth worries me in the front row.

Given the depth of the back-row, i guess we could alwayz put Blair there if Galloway breaks down. Thats the only time i would ever like to see Blair in the front-row

And all of those teams you listed above are in the same position as the Tigers if a leading prop goes down. The Dragons front row is solid but nothing special, same applies to the Broncos and Cowboys. Parra are overrated. The Warriors have a damn good pack and the Raiders might go forward, but defensively they are full of holes.

The reality surrounding the Tigers is that the only real loss was Gibbs. Fifita failed to run straight and train hard and wasn't missed in 2011 and failed to impress in State Cup a lot of the time and Payten spent the majority of the season injured and was ineffective when he came back for a handful of games.

The Tigers stack up just as well as any of the teams you have listed.

Finally someone has said it. Parra are indeed over-rated. Tim Mannah would easily be one of the most over-rated players in the comp, and how he has been selected over Galloway for NSW all these yrs has me buggered. But they are over-rated in every aspect, not just the front-row. A bottom four finish won't surprise me

If Galloway goes down, we're relying on a kid to step up and fill his boots or a backrower to play out of position.

Look at Brisbane, if Pet goes down, Hannant is a proven performer and can step it up and lead their props.

To liken us to another club, we're looking like the Dogs next year up front. We've got one international, but outside that a lot of the rotation is kids. Gibbs is a big loss and has been replaced by a benchwarmer from Penrith. Fifita wasn't missed this season because we had a good run with injuries after he got dropped.

Gibbs > Fifita
I remember saying I'd rather lose Heinington than Bryce…

I think we hold our own and can hang with the rest of em.
NZ are up there tho, strong pack.

I tend to agree with this.

We have a good pack, but we will struggle in the front row without Galloway, we always have.

I have a lot of faith in Woods, I reckon if he's called on to step up he wont let us down.

Have a little faith guys we are in for a big 2012!

I wouldn't be surprised if the maroon bunker is researching his past as we speak, a distant, distant, twice removed relative once stayed a night in Mt Isa, oh no he's a Queenslander :roll

cheers Cunno… I'll email Big Mal now!

I like Melbourne's Frontrow... Bellamy tells them to do three things. Go forward 6-8 meters, drop down in the tackle to get a quick play the ball, or pivot to offload. (Funnily enough my old coach used to tell the same thing to my pigs in under 13's). I also like the combination of Nth Qld's Frontrow with their speed which comes off there bench using 2 Hookers and the Simms Brothers.

We are ok, but we do have some question marks. I think we will be fine though, as we also have options in Ellis, Blair, BMM & Moors to be able to do some domestic work if we are struggling. Bell is good, and I feel he will work in tandem with Woods. I'm hoping Blair is going to be used as an attacking option instead of a domestic.

Bring on March!

I won't be surprised if he does get a run for the Blues either Happy.

They sure do Willow. One of the best packs if not the best pack in the comp. Most of them young and on the improve.

Is Shirnack gone? Good backrow option to throw in.

I think there was chat that Begovich has left? I hope not…

I agree with marshall_magic. Our front row depth is the issue, but we have an amazing 2nd row so I think Blair or BMM will be pushed to the front row if we get a few injuries.

Al Schirnack is still there, whether he is in Sheens plans is another question. Begovich is also there but not training fulltime due to his business being a priority.

Roqica has gone to the Bulldogs.

Im happy to hear Al is still here. Only for our depth, but if injuries hit, he will be handy

I think Gibbs will be a big loss, and i didnt want to see him go. But i think you'll find he was sacrificed due to his injuries. He has really struggled the last couple of years with them and the club feels its only a matter of time before he becomes one of those players that misses 2 or three games then plays one, then misses one etc. Ill be watching him with great interest at Cronulla to see if the Tigers made the right call. For Bryces sake, i hope he goes great, but it may well just be a sensational call by Tigers staff

This is a massive call, but i think he'll go one better. NSW are crying out for someone of his size and talent. Maybe im 1 or 2 years early, but if he has a great opportunity this year with a starting spot up for grabs in a great pack at the Tigers. If he gets rid of those odd mistakes, and is as good as we all hope, he may be rushed in a little earlier than expected. Especially if QLD win the first 2 games.

Yeah I'm a big Woods fan but he's no chance in 2012!

You are forgetting who picks the team…

Stuart?

Wasn't it Stuart who put Woods into the emerging Blues squad after his bad run of injuries and before he had even debuted in 1st grade?

I reckon Woods is an outside chance, but still a chance. We can't keep asking Gallen to perform miracles for us. We need some honest to god specialist props to step up.

I know Stuart picked around 50 guys for that emerging squad….but at least we know Woods is on his radar!
