Rate our pack !

I think Gibbs will be a big loss, and i didnt want to see him go. But i think you'll find he was sacrificed due to his injuries. He has really struggled the last couple of years with them and the club feels its only a matter of time before he becomes one of those players that misses 2 or three games then plays one, then misses one etc. Ill be watching him with great interest at Cronulla to see if the Tigers made the right call. For Bryces sake, i hope he goes great, but it may well just be a sensational call by Tigers staff

Agreed King Sirro, I will also miss not seeing Bryce run out with the Wests Tigers, one of our better forwards imo and yes I will also be keeping an eye on his form at cronulla.

In terms of propr depth, sheens has been reported as saying that Ellis is also someone who could fill in at prop when required so whilst we have a strong pack, we also have a number of players in the pack who are versatile especially in the modern era when it is possible to be so since teams no longer 'fight' for the ball in scrums.

On paper we have a great pack my only real concerns are, Ellis and rhino seem to have peaked and are slowly on the slide and the second season syndrome Woods and groat might run into, Although with a FIT Farah calling the shots, throw in the class of Blair and the experience of Bell its really hard to see them coming off second best too often

I don't think we'll have the representation at Origin level that many are predicting. The only certainty i see if fit is Lawrence. Forget Farah, he's been black-listed. I think there are enough Props going around to make them avoid Woods. And as much as i'd like to, I can't see an all Tigers Centre pairing of Lawrence and Ayshford, i don't think it will happen. Unfortunatley we aren't the Dragons. TBH, i don't realy consider Galloway to be a certain selection either. So IMO, the only certainty is Lawrence

I'm with you there GNR. Rowdy is the only dead-cert, and Galloway will most probably get a bench spot if he hits the ground running this year. If he gets injured for any prolonged amount of time he can forget it.

Would like to see Ayshford get a run as I reckon he would suit the Blues to a tee, but I doubt he'd get a look in.

Woods has another good year or two ahead of him before he will come into consideration IMO.

I think our origin representation will depend alot on how we start the season, if we win 6 or 7 of our first 8, we are likely to get some fringe selections go our way (as the dragons did this year with the likes of Young, Merrin and Beau Scott)
If we start well we may jag 4 or 5 reps

Considering we went into games with Mannah/Gallen in the front row, I'm not so sure we do have enough props running around.

Trent Merrin played the first two origin games last year. To me thats a warning sign we don't have the prop stocks around. If Merrin got a go, I don't see why a good start from Woods this year wouldn't see him come into contention.

Gallen played in the front-row for Australia as well

Because of a lack of front row stock.

If we had another Matt Scott type player ready to step up Gallen would have been at lock IMO.

Imo this the best pack ive supported siince the Balmain pack of the mid eighties to about 90!

Sheens has done as amazing job nurturing/ assembling such a crew!!!

Cant wait for us to really start physically dominating some lesser packs!

I'm a big Woods fan, he had an excellent first year in first grade, but before we start putting him in rep teams just remember, Daniel Mortimer had an excellent first year in first grade. I don't like to judge players so quickly after 1 season.

We have done well with a small pack for a few years now and an improved pack can only mean an overall improvement. Adding Blair, both Woods and Groat will improve IMO and a more determind Farah sounds pretty good to me. I also have a feeling one of our junior forwards who is yet to play firsts will emerge and force his way onto the bench like Woods and Groat did. How many people thought that Groat would have lifted aswell as he did this time last year?

Yeah I'm a big Woods fan but he's no chance in 2012!

You are forgetting who picks the team…

Stuart?

Wasn't it Stuart who put Woods into the emerging Blues squad after his bad run of injuries and before he had even debuted in 1st grade?

I reckon Woods is an outside chance, but still a chance. We can't keep asking Gallen to perform miracles for us. We need some honest to god specialist props to step up.

I know Stuart picked around 50 guys for that emerging squad….but at least we know Woods is on his radar!

stuart nearly lured woods to cronulla in 2009, it was only sheens stepping in that stopped him going as their offer dwarfed ours. stuart is a massive fan of woods, he picked merrin this year and it wouldnt surprise me if woods gets a run in 2012.
