Dolphins are probably the most talented and best balanced team in the comp. If they can just stay in matches mentally more often than not they will definitely give the comp a shake.

Well they do have Mitch Woods coming through, but Gus has said on his podcast he does not really believe in blooding youngsters in a poor team because it is unfair on them.

Woods is also apparently more of a running half, so I am not even sure he fixes the problem anyway.

The problem now is that any adjustment to the spine creates another issue. If they move someone, one of their key players likely gets dropped or shifted, which could cause even more unrest.

You cannot really drop Galvin, because he was brought in as the supposed answer. Burton has also been a big part of their success, so dropping him or pushing him into the centres would be hard to justify. They have just re-signed Tracey, so moving away from him now would look strange as well. On top of that, they do not have much depth at hooker.

They have almost backed themselves into a corner. Every change now creates another problem, and a lot of it is the result of their own decision-making

Imo the only real way out is to sign Tanah Boyd or Metcalf for next year giving them some light

Their spine is bottom 4. It’s putrid. Shuffling the deck chairs won’t fix it. They need outside resources. Which will be hard considering Lloyd is locked up for a few years and they just re-signed Tracey. What does Burton offer besides a bomb? And Haywood, the less said the better. He’s a complete non factor. And the funny thing is, they put themselves in this position, needlessly. Gus got way too cute.

Agree with you. Tanah Boyd is off contract though but will most likely stay with NZ. Hence why people are saying Metcalf will leave

Different types of useless though, Hastings just passed the ball and yelled to his teammates all game, whereas Galvin tries to get their ribs rearranged and dummy’s into a front rower 20 times

I dont think they have much space in their cap. Metcalf would be $800k+ png and perth would both want him.
 
I think the ref did spoil that game as a spectacle. Starving teams of possession only leads to errors and fatigue.
The Dolphins got back into the game due to a ridiculous sin bin and then the possession rate was all in their favour
No sympathy for the Bulldogs but the ref was rubbish.
