I personally think they made the right call. Blake is a good footballer but in my opinion it came down to Lawrence or Ayshford, Ayshford's form has been better this season but i still would go with Lawrence as the one to keep. I know he hasn't had a great year but he's looked better since returning from the foot injury. Defensively especially. He offers more in attack, is the better defender of the two when in form and is probably more of a leader. It's tough call though, No easy solution to tell either of them to go but with Koro, Nofa, Simona, Richards and Naiyaravaro we have more than enough.
I share the sentiments of most on here - not so worried that Ayshford is going, but it's where he is going that annoys me. Are Cronulla incapable of building a team from their own backyard? According to the article posted earlier, they've only become finals contenders on the back of all the players they've bought from WT - that's something to be proud of :unamused: What can ya say? Anyway, good luck Blake, you certainly won't have any trouble fitting in. I'm just happy if this means we can keep Simona now - the future is brighter than the past.

Way too many guys in front of Ayshford at the moment at the tigers. Reminds me of a what could have been player ala Collis. I rated him a couple of years ago when he had a blinder of a half season, hasnt done a thing since and is excess baggage with all the above guys coming through. Rowdy is the pick of the two to keep. Just hope he doesnt turn out to be a NSW player in the next 12 months like fafita.

I dont really have a problem with letting Blake go although we must be talking to some other players as we are losing alot of experience in the team for next season.
What I do have a problem with is Blake going to the Sharks. Any other team would of been better. This just irks me that another team is building off our experience players….the sharks must be nearly over the cap with all the players that we let go unless their salaries are partly being paid by us.
I am sure that Utai wont be there next season, Lote is a maybe, Bell is a maybe, Pettybourne gone, Ashford gone....I am hoping that we now have some money in the bank to secure some players like a wide running 2nd rower in Boyd Cordner mould and an impact front rower off the bench.

Im a little different in that i dont care about the Sharks taking our players. IMO we are in front. The Sharks are 1 from 7 regarding players we have let go that we would want back.
They have taken 6 players we dont want and 1 we do want.
Give it 12 months and we will be laughing at them missing the 8 while we are top 4.

Love your enthusiasm King Sirro. Not too sad to see Blake go although I liked him. Never saw the 'Fifita' style potential in him. Good luck at the Tiger Sharks- maybe both teams can have a love in BBQ at the end of the season

So much potential that went relatively unfulfilled at the Tigers, was a solid player without being the star that he looked capable of being.
Great to see that we are finally unloading players who have been given more than enough time to prove their worth, it is time for the next generation to show us what they have got in the next few seasons. Good teams constantly turn over a few players each year in order to find the dead-set right mix to challenge for a title.
Good luck at Sharks Blake, just don't play well against us like every other Tigers reject seems to do.

New culture building at Wests Tigers
Wests Tigers can confirm the release of centre Blake Ayshford from the final two years of his contract.
Contracted to Wests Tigers until the end of the 2015 season, Ayshford approached the club asking for a release. He will see out the season with Wests Tigers before joining Cronulla.
Chief Operating Officer Grant Mayer said the decision to release Ayshford and forward Eddy Pettybourne last week has helped ease salary cap issues that have developed this season due to a heavy injury toll.
"Managing the salary is often a day by day proposition and decisions like this, whilst difficult, are correct for our long term plans" Mayer said.
“We are going through an important rebuilding phase that will re-establish the Wests Tigers as a top contender year on year. We have some exceptionally big decisions to make over the coming months and with the Direction of our Board, I am confident that our future will be bright.
“From a football perspective, we need a cultural shift that will help develop our young talent. Players like Tim Simona, David Nofoaluma, Marika Koroibete, Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses, Kyle Lovett, Nathan Brown and
Matt Woods are all coming through our system and need to be developed and invested in."
Mayer said that Captain Robbie Farah and the senior leadership group will be instrumental in building the right environment for the younger players.
“They are international players with tremendous leadership qualities and their experience in this area will be vital,’’ he added

Good player but doesn't pass enough. Another tough but right decision by management imo.
Offloading Lawrence is not really an option as his contract is larger and longer dated then Ash.
Fingers crossed he comes good.. the Sharkies game was one of his best in recent years.
