Without putting too fine a point on it . . . . . and this isn't directly at you, ink . . .
Brett Hodgson is universally known as "Hodgo" . . . . NOT "Son"
John Skandalis is "Skando" . . . NOT "Lis"
Fred Jackson is Jacko . . . not son.
Billy NcDonald is Macca . . . not nald.

And any Eisenhuth is an Eiso. Not a Huth.
How daft would you look walking up to Skando and saying " I watched you play your heart out for my team. I'd love to have your signature please Lis. You're my favourite player.

Looong off season

He is the Hoof

Like Keefy

Smiffy

Get with the program and the bus

So we'll be seeing the Hoof is on fire sign at one of our home games then…

I think a backrow of McQueen, Tayler and the Hooth picks itself at this point. Aloiai could be used as an impact player. Idk, but for some reason I can’t find a spot for Marsters. I have my bench looking something like

Liddle
Twal
Sue
Aloiai

Sue and Twal being the middle men and Aloiai playing wider. And Liddle is there because McIlwrick isn’t an 80 minute player. So where does it leave Marsters? To me, the only position for him in round 1 is in the centres if Suli isn’t fit.

That's pretty much how I see it.

Doubt Liddle will be right for at least a month after the season starts and than he will come back via reserves. So I see Taylor being the back up no9 so that will leave a bench spot free till Liddle hits his straps. Could be wrong but a double shoulder opp takes a heap of time to recover from

Liddle does not start in my side. I dont think he has earned a spot yet. Id rather see him start in reggies and rip in before getting a call up. Im starting Elijah at no.9\. He has the smarts, passing game, defence and motor and the pack gets a lift by including someone who makes better yardage. Win/win.

I’m not sure whether Liddle or McIlwrick will start at 9 but the other has to play ISP, not take up a bench spot. If our 9 can’t play 80, then Taylor fill in at 9 for 20\. Must have 3 big forwards on the bench and a utility

McIlwrick will definitely start at 9 imo. Liddle is probably up in the air. Cleary might even prefer Marshall as the utility.

Liddle unquestionably at 9 for me for whole game (if 100% fit). This guy is going to make such a difference to our attack it is not funny. His defence is pretty good as well.

McIlwrick in ISP in my opinion as he can't play 80 and with dickie knees …..

If Liddle has to go off - then Taylor or Marshall fills in for however long.

x3

And I think Liddle will be able to go the full 80

Marsters in for Sue and Benji in for Liddle first up.

Marsters can play both forward and back and Benji can play hooker, fullback, half or 5/8.

Masters and milne in the centres with suli and nofo on the wings
marshall as 14
making the bench:
marshall
twal
sue
aloiai

Looking at our squad now I think it’s fair to say every other spot besides the following is up for grabs. A little nerve-racking but exciting at the same time:

1\. Tui
2\. Nofo
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
10\. Matulino
13\. Eiso

14\. Twal

Probably, but I'd add Taylor as a starter for his leadership & defence, and Aloiai on the bench.

Yep. I don't think anyone can say for certain who will run out in remaining 9 positions much before R1 kicks offs. Which is more than half the spots in the 17.

3\. Suli
4\. Milne
5\. MWZ

9\. Liddle
11\. McQueen
12\. Alioia

15\. Sue
16\. Taylor
17\. Marshall

18th man Lawrence.

I really wanted to see Marsters progress this year in NRL however if Suli and Milne are 100% fit I'd say they are very slightly ahead at centre and I went Benji on the bench ahead of Marsters on the bench as a utility (only because of what he did for the Broncos from the bench in 2017). Taylor is my backrow option on the bench ,once again just ahead of Marsters because he can play all backrow positions as well as DH (he may even start at DH). I'm sure Marsters will get his chance soon enough.

Lawrence, Grant, Rochow, Kev, Fonua, MWZ will all be very good back ups. If any player in the 17 isn't 100% fit, they shouldn't start as all our replacements are experienced NRL players and there isn't much between them. So however is fittest should start.
