Realistic team list round 1 2018

For me:

1\. Thompson
2\. Nofa
3\. Kev (with Milne being watched in ISP)
4\. Marsters
5\. Fonua (sure a risk but we can't be a conservative team)
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks (in the absence of choice)
13\. E Taylor
12\. Rochow (v impressive on Sat)
11\. Aloia
10\. Matulino
9\. Godinet
8\. Packer

14\. Marshall (sure hasn't played but I reckon he'd be fit enough off the bench and he's cover for a lot of positions)
15\. Twal
16\. Grant
17\. Eisenhuth

For me Godinet has looked much better at dummy half. Lawrence just doesn't deserve a spot right now.

I agree with a lot of this. I think Fonua has to be picked as he dents the line and gets us going forward. I can't pick Kev but I can understand him being there. That backrow looks decent. Aloia and Rochow on the edges gives our pack some size. I'd pick Lawrence but I can understand Rochow being there as well.

1\. Lolahea
2\. Thompson
3\. Marsters
4\. Milne/Naiqama
5\. Nofaluma/MWZ
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Matulino
9\. Godinete
10\. Grant
11\. Rochow
12\. Taylor or Lawrence if Taylor is injured still
13\. Eisenhuth
14\. Aloiai
15\. Twal
16\. Felise
17\. Packer

1\. Nofoaluma- was a fullback in juniors, is a liability on the wing but has the enthusiasm to make fullback work, tops tackle brakes.

2\. Thompson - no nonsense try scoring finisher, solid reader and defender

3\. Marsters

4\. Lolohea- more suited in the centres. Not fast enough on the wing or skillful enough for fullback. With great hands and a good step, can provide wingers plenty of chances. I see this as his only spot that he can make his own.

5\. Naiqama

6\. Reynolds

7\. Brooks

8\. Packer

9 Mcilwrick- Offers better dummy half service than Liddle. More predictable passing to runners catch zone, giving the hit up runner more time and less pressure to plan his attack.

10\. Matulino

11\. Aloiai

12\. McQueen

13\. Taylor

14\. Twal

15\. Grant

16\. Chee-Kam

17\. Rochow

17\. Rochow

You had me to a point until I got to McIlwrick - I'll give you the benefit of believing you haven't seen him play.

Better dummy half service than Liddle …. :roll

MCK!!…..Really!?? :roll over lawrence or even Eisenhuth!!

1\. Tui - Thompson deserves the spot but we need some speed and power so Tui gets it.
2\. Fonua - tackle busting winger with poor defence. Same as Nofo. We have to pick him because we need some speed and/or power in our backline.
3\. Marsters
4\. Milne
5\. Nofo
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks

8\. Packer
9\. Taylor - we have no choice here. I'd rather play him at lock or on the edge but we need better service.
10\. Matulino
11\. Rochow
12\. Lawrence
13\. Aloiai

14\. Twal
15\. Eisenhuth
16\. Chee-Kam
17\. Benji

Benji and Gamble should be putting both halves under pressure. Chee-Kam to give Lawrence or Rochow a spell. Aloiai is our best forward and deserves to start.

If Liddle comes back and plays well maybe move Taylor to lock and Aloiai to an edge spot.

1\. Lolohea - adds spark and can kick goals
2\. Nofaoluma
3\. Masters - best centre at the club imo, offloads, post contact metres
4\. Naiqama - haven't seen enough of milne defensively so far the spot goes to kevvie
5\. Thompson - deserves a spot somewhere in the 17
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks - Gamble and Benji knocking the door down
8\. Packer
9\. Godinet - Tempted to go with ET but he lacks spark out of dummy half/ until liddle is fit
10\. Mataulino
11\. Mcqueen - i love him, rather him over Lawrence but i love his effort
12\. ET - should play on the edge
13\. Eisenhuth - with a little more aggression he reminds of Nathan Brown at parra last year

14\. Twal - Our next origin player
15\. Rochow - impressed me during trials, massive frame aswell
16\. Aloiai - unlucky he isn't starting love energy
17\. Benji - Utility

So so close but no cigar lol.

You really need Lawrence and Eisenhuth there.

Biggest issue is that McIllwrick is bog average

I don't know how anyone could name McIlwrick starting at 9 over Godinet at this stage. Our attack is snuffed out before the ball even gets to Brooks his passing is that slow off the ground.

It must be our most anticipated rd 1 team announcement since 2000.

I can't wait for the footy to start.

Lets see what you say after 40 minutes haha.

Honestly dont know what to think. Like the forward pack except hooker. The 1-7 is very ordinary.

I will give it 3 posts before someone complains about a selection..

Why Lawrence

Why Naiqama

Where is Lolohea

That bench sucks

Are at the top of my list..

1\. Thompson
2\. Nofa
3\. Kev
4\. Marsters
5\. Fonua
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. Godinet
10\. Matulino
11\. Aloia
12\. Rochow
13\. Eisenhuth

14\. Gamble or Marshall
15\. Twal
16\. Grant
17\. E Taylor

In previous years weve had a couple of out and out reserve graders. I don't think we'll have that this year when the team/positions settle down.
Trials mean absolutely nothing to me.

Marshall, Twal and Taylor have not played a trial game so would prefer JJ Felise and Lawrence are picked for Round 1
