Recruitment and retention

I think we have to take some risks.

We cant continue to have an enitre backling so small, and we cant carry Elijah Taylor as a running forward.

So i would be taking a risk on Jamal Idris.

I would be training Elijah Taylor as a hooker (yes i know he has had faults here before, but he has never had an off season training specifically for the role)…this allows more physical presence with Sue at lock.

Sign Kane Evans and play him as an edge backrower. He's very quick.

Siro to prepare in the off season for 5/8, stripping weight, gaining speed etc.

I want a team that is physically dominant.

1 Tedesco
2\. Nofo
3\. Idris
4\. Heleta
5\. Simona
6\. Sironen
7\. Moses
13\. Sue
12\. Evans
11\. Alioai
10\. Woods
9\. Taylor
8\. Seumanufagai

14\. Grant
15\. Felise
16\. Lawrence
17\. Liddle

We are just to small to compete with the bigger teams. You saw this today. Are there any under 20 players who will step up next year. I did like the no 5 the Tigers in the 20s today. To be honest Penrith look like they have the perfect balance for next year. I just can't see us improving with this squad and surely Taylor knows it. I think finishing ninth was a good achievement for this bunch of players. We just don't have the cattle

We need to make some changes for 2017!

1\. James Tedesco
2\. David Nofaluma
3\. Tim Simona
4.
5\. Kevin Naquima
6\. Mitch Moses
7\. Luke Brooks
8\. Aaron Woods
9.
10\. JJ Felise
11\. Josh Alioia
12\. Chris Lawrence
13\. Elijah Taylor

14\. Jacob Liddle
15\. Ava Seumanafagnai
16\. Tim Grant
17\. Jesse Sue

Curtis Sironen is a difficult one, has loads of potential but just doesn't seem to work hard for it. Depending on next seasons form, he either works hard and stays or can leave same goes with Brooks!

For next year we need a hooker and centre!

Suggestions for hooker: Baptise, Littlejohn, Segeyaro, Sironen?

Suggestions for centre: Idris, Carlin Anderson (goal kicker), Tom Opiac (would struggle to keep his spot when Reed comes back, Holland (goal kicker), Gagan, Gagai, Mead, Kenner.

Our pack is decent, we've got a lot of depth just need that size which we will get with the players coming up like Paseka, Tatola, Masters etc

If Brooks has another shocker in 2017, let him go and chase Jack Bird hard!

6\. Jack Bird
7\. Mitch Moses

What I would like to see in 2018

1\. James Tedesco
2\. David Nofaluma
3\. Tim Simona
4\. Dane Gagai
5\. Kevin Naquima
6\. Jack Bird
7\. Mitchell Moses
8\. Aaron Woods
9\. Jacob Liddle
10\. Taniela Paseka
11\. Josh Alioai
12\. Esan Masters
13\. Elijah Taylor

14\. Junior Tatola
15\. Ava Suemanafagnai
16\. JJ Felise
17\. Jesse Sue

Players we let go off: Brooks, Sironen, Rankin, Grant, Lovett, Lawrence, Farah

Unless we can move some contracted players on I guess this post is a waste of time. It's common knowledge we have basically no cap space for 2017\. Okay with Farah leaving free some dollars up, but you would think ET would suck that cap space up.

I think we have some good players coming through the system, but we need probably four players till these kids make it to NRL standard….and sadly it is not going to happen

The only good thing about getting flogged today is that it is clear we lack power on the edges and we have the whole offseason to address it.
If we'd lost by 2 pionts , this problem may not have been treated serious.

Risk wise I would like us to target

Hooker: Baptise, him and Liddel would keep us going for a while whilst not cost the earth. Cook would of been ideal + goal kicker but doubt Souths would add him to a trade for Farah.

Prop: Evans or Moa or Vaughan. Maybe we could do a deal with the Chooks for Sirro.

Move MCK into centers and target 2 backrowers for depth. We need a winger as well so Rankin could either become our utility off the bench or play his natural game (preassure on Brooks).

Pending how much we have from Farah leaving and if we get ET to stay, our only movement might be associated to player trades like Sirro or Balin retiring.

Get rid of them all..start again..I see a lot of we need we need posts..Well…

Who we buying...keen to here the suggestions that would make us great..

You want to go around with the same 17 geo?

I didn't say that..but it seems futile to say we need this and that …when no one has yet come up with a single player who would vastly improve the team that is available to sign...

I'm keen to know...

For me I would start at Korbin Sims and Tautau Moga..

Think harder then!

It's all completely hypothetical when we don't know how much cap space there is. At the cheap end I would go for Kurt Capewell (who zero tackle have as off contract), Jacob Gagan and/or Carlin Anderson. If we have a bit more coin then go for a proven winger or centre in Hoffman or Mead or maybe Moa or Evans and shift Sue to 2nd row, although I don't love the idea of signing a prop when Felise is coming through.

Would be nice if we could hear some news on ET this week, and maybe another signing for some damage control on the PR front. The club seems to be allergic to the player market though.

I would look at Matagai from the panthers. Cameron King would be a cheap hooker option, but has a big injury history. If you could motivate Toni Williams would be an option. Hard to find good backrowers

Do we have any hard running second rowers in the lower grades? Lawrence might be a nice bloke but his use by date must be approaching.

For the past few tears we have had most of our salary cap dominated by Farah, Moses, Brooks, Tedesco & Woods.

Tedesco's asking price is higher now, as is Moses.
Woods money should be stable from here. Brooks is not in a commanding position to ask for more and Farah is sorted.

All these players money is locked in for next year at least so the club need to really look at scenarios on who to replace in 2018.

As far as the rest of the team most wouldn't be on much coin but again it comes down to 'value for money'. Replace them with who? At what price?

Whoever has the final say on the salary cap management will be having a few headaches seeing as we are poor on TPAs

I know Lawrence is a well earned favourite amongst all Wests Tigers supporters but time and past injuries have restricted his contribution in first grade. We now need at least two new quality back rowers. Our centre stocks certainly need improving and Heleta could be the centre to put the work into in the off season. However we still need two new centres with speed and toughness. Hopefully Pascoe can balance our cap and fill in our positional weaknesses and we end up with a balanced, competitive first grade team for 2017.

Could we not look to the ESL? there must be some buys over there? young guys looking to make a name or experienced guys who want to try the NRL?

we have done it before and look at canberra's current roster it works.

Spot on Supercoach. The club has stated time and again that we will not be buying players next year. 2018 is the year.

We will have mostly the same team next year as now. It is up to the coach and I guess O'Neill (what is his job anyway. Anyone know?) to juggle our current players.

If the fans can see the deficiencies in this team then surely so can our officials.

A couple of new centers would be nice. As suggested maybe Helata and Chee-Kam can be tried. Simona and Kevin N to the wing spot.

Hunt to halfback, Taylor to lock, Sue to the second row, Liddle to hooker.

Maybe we can get Martin back. He could be in the halves with Moses. Maybe Idris would be worth a try. Should come fairly cheap. Could play in the backs or the forwards.

Marstars and Felise to step up.

A goalkicker.

Lots to think about, but the bottom line I believe is that there will not be a lot of recruiting next year.

You forgot to mention Lawrence he has been on big dollars the last 2 years(signed the contract when he was a possible test centre)

If that is so how do you account for Pacoe's latest statement that we will be aiming for top 4 next year?
