Look at the system of political donations that are no disclosed publicly or the 100s of corporate lobbyists in Canberra with access to politicians. How is it not corrupt? Big businesses not paying back public money given during covid when they still make huge profits.

It often seems to me indigenous Australian get judged by a different standard to wealthy capitalists. Billions in fossil fuel subsidies seen as justified.

You really need to go back in read what I actually wrote rather than what you thought that I wrote.

The original comment - I don't feel like Aboriginal and Torre Strait Islander people are particularly prone to corruption - was naive in the extreme.

The reference to Geoff Clark in my zinger comment proves that, particularly in light of the fact that that person was commenting upon ATSIC vis a vis The Voice.

That is what the zinger was about, the naivety, not that all Aboriginal people are corrupt. This was made crystal clear in my subsequent post.

Unfortunately the best way to have a Voice to the people in power is to be a billionaire lobbyist. Or maybe own a multinational global media company, buy up control of 80% of mainstream news outlets in a country, then employ 100s of mini-me mouth pieces to spread your ideas. It is that easy - and not corrupt at all!

And these politicians are out here bemoaning "the elites"

Mate we are going around in circles and it seem to me that you still dont get it. Yes there is corruption in all of Australia (much less than other countries). Yes Geoff Clark was corrupt, YES ATSIC was corrupt.

Now go back to the original comment you copied, pasted and highlighted in bold and remove all of the bold highlighting except for the word particularly. Now have a crack at it.

I don't agree with the charactisation of educated and well spoken aboriginal people as "elites", as some mainstream media outlets and politicians have said.

I think you speak of a broader problem of people in the regions not feeling represented by those in power (which is ironic because the Nats have actually had huge amounts of politcial power over the last 20-30 years).

Do you have the data on where most aboriginal live? I am genuinely interested.

Tom Mayo is a communist and has only been moderated since his profile did serious damage to the no vote. People from the far left that I know don’t change their core beliefs at a flip of a coin. We are lucky we live in Australia where we can have freedom of opinion bit he has said some extreme things.

There’s a large chunk of the population doing it tough out there regardless of race.

Mate you cant read. I wanted a "gotcha" moment? I was trying the opposite. Quite frankly your original post read as racist and I didnt (still dont) think you meant it that way so I have posted a series of posts basically saying that I dont think you really meant it in that racist way, you mean it like this dont you? Each time you chose not to clarify that you didnt mean it in the racist connotation. My posts have been the opposite of an attempted gotcha.

and before people start frothing at the mouth because I said racist.....
Suggesting that one race is particularly prone to corruption by the nature of the innate characteristic of their race and skin colour is the actual definition of racism, pure and simple. Any suggestion that Aboriginals are more prone to corruption due to their race is racist.

I dont think Tucker is racist, but he hasnt taken the opportunities Ive given him to clarify.

Aboriginal people are no different from the rest of Australian society. Corruption doesn't care for skin colour, religion or cultural background.

The original comment is literally saying exactly what you are saying that Aboriginal people arent prone to corruption in particular..... meaning more than the rest of Australian society.

and honestly, IMO champ is the most pussy word on the internet. Whenever anyone calls me champ I imagine their little pink face all screwed up and fists all balled up. Its kinda cute which is not the effect you were going for Im assuming.

I might have misquoted there, 1/3 live in the major cities and 43% regionally. There is only a very small population who live in rural and remote communities, which was the point I was (poorly) trying to make.

I don't think Thomas Mayo represents where the process of reconciliation is any more than Pauline Hansen does. Regardless, it really is irrelevant what Thomas Mayo thinks on individual issues, as it is not Thomas Mayo's Voice to parliament.

That there is, but aboriginal people are overwhelmingly over-represented in the cohort of those doing it tough.

Neither the Wests Tigers members vote for the composition of the board nor will the Voice if enacted enable further franchise rights to any group.
