Regrets who we missed to Dolphins

I was just pondering that before season start we were competing with Dolphins for many signatures. Now that season almost ended who do people think would have been better value at WT rather than Dolphins (from our team / squad point of view rather than the poor player).

I'd say Aitken and Isaako would have made a difference with us. Not sure of who else we tried for but Nikorima would have been a better signing than either Smith / Wakeham.

na man - no way…
I read it here…

Our forwards dominate most weeks,
we have the 4th quickest ptb speed or
Some such…
The stats have us top 8 - surely….

Not only are most of our squad lacking - were very poorly coached…

Taking a lazy settler every 2nd tackle is our game plan no matter who’s in the side… or where we are on the field.
It makes me vomit - shot, settler, shot, settler….
It’s rubbish!!
Our forwards are better than our backs, easily. They’ve probably lost some hunger towards the end of the second long losing streak in the year. But yes, we need superstars who challenge the defense.

Agree.... But I don't feel we've ever attacked with our defence!!
If we have, It's been momentary and fleeting - Certainly too far in between.

I watch the games, All the games, usually, more than once....
And when were defending - More often than not, It feels like we're only just hanging in there...
And not actually winning the war - despite seemingly getting through the work.

(too busy boxing and not actually fighting almost)
We're far too brittle, far too often - We've got no one that irons anyone out....
Been that way forever...
So much so, We're stuck talking about a hit from Simon Dwyer almost 15 Years ago!!
Most teams have a defensive specialist, Who's ours? - Twal? Please...

I'd have expected more from our pack this year
- Despite the general opinion is they've been killing it...
I don't see it that way, I don't think they've bested many teams this year at all....

I know exactly what you mean Rugby League is an 80 minute game not a highlight reel but those Big Runs and Hits that can really lift a side seem lacking to me . We look big and strong but the dynamic power seems lacking.

They’ve laid platforms this year that went unused due to incompetence in the backline.
I wouldn’t say they’ve killed it, but they held their own most weeks and kept us in the game. Had we had decent backs, this could have led to half a dozen more wins…then we are singing a completely different tune.

Always a bottom half of the comp squad but strengthened in some areas compared to last year. Given our position and lack of improvement results wise you can pick and choose who is most accountable.

Agree we lack the killer instinct required. Add a guy like James Fisher Harris and a guy like Reece Walsh and we are nearly fixed. Unfortunately that’s also how far away we are, because those guys ain’t coming here and they aren’t growing on trees (or in our juniors).

How do you fix that for those who can’t take the negative nellies?

The club needs a complete reboot from top down.

We should never have let him go. Was always talented in the juniors.
For sure, I rate him.

I like a 13 that can play some 9 if needed.

He and Mcinness. Along with Radley and Murray are the locks that provide the most, imo. Not Yeo - overrated and predictable.

I don't think we need Fisher Harris. We lack stars though like Walsh.

I don't know what this means but if we had a couple of players like Walsh we'd be a lot better. The Broncos have Walsh, Cobbo, Staggs, Farnworth and Mam who would all walk into our backline.

I remember at the time he used to get concussed quite a lot and I feared for his future. I suspect this is why the club got rid of him. He has done well to continue playing. He is a no-frills guy that just gets the job done without fuss. Every club needs one.
As for best locks you can't go past Murray or Carrigan for mine- they are next level and would change our club massively. One can only dream.

Carrigan is a beast, huge rig too.
They missed him. Last night.

He gets through so much work defensively and makes many great runs.

He's great.

We need first grade quality halves and backline to make the most of opportunities otherwise it’s just running through motions. Our pack competes most weeks. There’s just no one to find the chinks in the armour.

Also our kicking game sucks most weeks so opposition are starting sets on the front foot. If we do manage to get a drop out the opposition are odds on to regain possession from a short dropout. It all adds up. Our forwards are literally bashing their heads against a brick wall.
