Developing a player is not like buying a car, as in what you get at the start is not the best it is going to be! Kyle is young and needs an opportunity to develop and improve. I am not sure why people expect that he will walk into First Grade and just be a complete player. We are allowed to wait for Brooks and Moses to mature, but if a forward doesn't show promise in his first season he is washed up….

He is a maturing boy playing a mans game in one of the most aggressive competitions in the world. It is a credit to him the progress he has made, and the club obviously sees potential for that to continue.

Arghh..There's that word again, rearing it's ugly head… Potential. 😕

Lovett has missed 5 that have led directly to TRIES …Woods has missed 4 that led directly to TRIES and Farah 4 that led directly to TRIES...your point?

It's a team game....at 22 not busting the bank with more improvement in him with a season of FG behind him re-signing Lovett is better than another fringe numpty...

IMO Lovett is a poor man's Fulton.

I'm not trying to bash him or ''stir the pot'', but i just never really understood what people saw in him that lead them to believe he was so valuable to us. I'm not saying i wasn't a fan, because i did like him, but to me he was a plodder who was a great clubman. But that's jmo.

Mate I agree, he was overrated - but it's only because he achieved almost cult-hero status while to the rest of the league he was simply a role-player.
But he was definitely more than just a plodder. Buchanan, Lovett, Galloway are plodders. Heighington, Skandalis, Bryce Gibbs were plodders. Fulton at least offered a bit more in that he had the ability to pass, offload and was a reliable cover defender.

PS: We should have a new thread of WT greatest plodders.

PPS: Before people jump down my throat yes Skandalis was a plodder and it ain't sacrilege because I'm saying he was perhaps the greatest of all plodders. He is an immortal plodder alongside a subaru outback and a turtle.

I'd have to 'up' my data allowance if we were to open up a thread on our club's plodders!
And I'm not sure what you mean bigsiro when you say Skando was our greatest plodder. Does that mean he was more of a plodder than anyone else, just better at being a plodder than anyone else, or only just in the plodder bracket, almost making it to the 'better than plodder' bracket?

Lovett is not first grade standard and should not have been re-signed. Rewarding his performances this year with a new contract is rewarding mediocrity
