You can say that about the club as a whole. We‘ve done very little to improve the roster, yet some believe we’re going to somehow break into the 8.
 
Happy to have Benji back in a non-playing role. He has a lot to offer to our youngsters and is without doubt the highest profile WT identity, so plenty to assist in promotion or ambassadorial roles as well.

For casual observers in particular and even some die-hards, he is the king of WT and certainly that to many kids still coming through the grades, including the now Bunnies half we let go.

Brooks trains the house down every year without doubt. It's why he is one of our best year in, year out.
The haters will always say it's how he plays, without ever watching the way he trains.
Left foot, right foot, they've seen the dummy. Garner gets smashed, we saw it coming.
Good kick or bad kick, it doesn't matter, because if it's Brooks, there will always be chatter.

And as it turns out, the only 3 happy years in the history of Wests Tigers.

That being said I don't know how good Benji would be as a coach, if I was to put money on it, I would say a very unsuccessful one. I know most other coaches have side gigs but for Benji his commitment with Fox would be bigger than his commitment to SG Ball. I've always hoped that the type of coaching players receive from SG/Harold Matts to NRL is similar and I don't see Benji fitting into any system.

Also sick of Benji going back and forth with his comments regarding the club. He's continually bashed us when not employed to us.

Couldn't agree more.

Most league supporters thing of West Tigers when the name Benji Marshall is mentioned. And the current 10-17yo kids who are WT supporters would be thinking Benji Marshall, so they are the next 10 year crop. Be mad not to take advantage of that, regardless of the the personal complaints from some.

It’s not 2010. We’re at a point in time now where 10-17 year olds would not remember Marshall in his prime. He peaked in 2011, and was as good as any player in the modern era. Then he fell off a cliff after that. For the last decade of his career, he lived off his reputation of the first decade. Never have I seen a player decline so much like he did. He still had his moments of course, but over the backend of his career he was just a solid first grader, not a superstar. And it wasn’t ‘t like he was in his 30’s when he started to fall way. He was only 26-27. 10-17 year olds now would be looking at players like Turbo, Tedesco and Cleary.
 
Glad he is back. His footy IQ is brilliant and a fair chunk of kids will look up to him. He will help retain some kids as well. Prefer him with us over being at another club. I can see some stage Benji ends up as a NRL / Rep coach.

I doubt Benji will ever be a good coach however i can see him being part of the furniture for the Kiwis in internationals
 
You can’t predict who will be a great coach. Everyone always points to superstars making great coaches, when more often than not it’s players like Trent Robinson. Think of the most average first grader running around this year, and he’s every chance of being a better coach in 10-15 years than your Tommy Turbos and James Tedescos.

Have only had brief contact with some 12-17 year olds but from what I can gather Benji is still a HUGE name. Wests Tigers brand will always be synonymous with Benji.. not until if/when we have our next successful phase.
