I think you're confusing the on field performance and the financial standing of the business.
Financially the club is a thriving very successful business.

Michael Chammas is obviously dumber than Dean Ritchie. So benny will pay 10mil for 10% which values the club at 100mil. And with this 10% all he gets is a seat at the table - he doesn't control anything. Even benny isn't that stupid.

There is a difference between on field results and off field financials. Wests Ashfield have been very successful financially with the club is going gang busters and expanding. The Wests Tigers are also financially sound. I’d take the results achieve by Wests Ashfield and Wests Tigers over those of Elias every day of the week.

On top of everything else the club has to offer, the club is six months away from opening a $75 million dollar Centre Of Excellance, and all of a sudden this grub wants to be involved and buy a 50.5% majority share for $10 million. Surely our management can't be that stupid enough to have any thing to do with this dial a comment has been. Playing devils advocate for a moment i suppose there is always the possibility that WA would sell their share. I'm not sure what they actually get out of owning WT. Their charter is to foster Rugba League in the district but that could be done without owning WT. But if they were to sell i believe they would want to get out completely which would mean selling the whole 90%, plus they would probably want the money they paid to clear Balmains debt added plus any monies they have invested in the COE. Plus they would want a clause that should the club be put back up for sale they would get first offer. From a purely business point of view it would be a good deal. They would walk away from the car wreck with a tidy profit plus added a few extra clubs to their franchise for nothing.
That would leave Benny and his consortium having to stump up for everything in the future - COE, juniors, feeder clubs etc. Few years down the track when they realise there is no money in NRL Wests Ashfield could move back in
