Wonder if we can loan him to the dogs (for 2020)? That way, if Benji retires at year's end, he comes back into the no. 6 shirt in 2021. Benji's getting on (I know how he feels) - another injury might be all she wrote. If we're paying close to full contract value, I don't see the point in giving him away. He gets a game, Bulldogs get experience and we keep our plan B.

Shifting mbye is our plan B. We need to free up the centre spot for talau and/or momo.

never said 48 hours mike....
said last week was meant to be thursday then tuesday got some proposed figures and said it was meant to be next thursday before comp starts.
At that point certain forum members did the usual naysaying. If it happens it happens my mail was wrong i had AD not coming here then that backflipped but the negativity on here whenever someone posts what they hear is shocking. Lets not be negative if you dont like the info someone posts re a player coming or going then simply dont read it.

Shouldn't that be the other way round..

What’s better, we give Bulldogs an amount we are willing to pay so we can know how much money we have to play for the future, or let bulldogs offer probably minimum wage

What's better is we offer nothing and the Bulldogs pay as much as it costs to get him if they want him so much..if they are just offering minimum to get him ..it's not a good deal for us at all

I'm just glad Pascoe stated 2 seasons ago Wests Tigers has learnt from the mistakes of the past in relation to the salary cap and will not be paying for players to play for other teams in the future..

Bulldogs won’t willingly offer to pay half his contract, they want him as cheap as possible. It’s in the tigers hands to tell bulldogs ‘we’ll pay this much and you can pay the rest’

I dont think that JRey is the answer to our #6 challenges post the Benji Marshall era.

Let him go and compliment the young forward pack with a measured number 6 that is more structured.

i think if we get away with 350k on a 750 k deal we are laughing. I think the 250k and dogs pay the rest offer is a bit wishfull.
i just hope we dont do this deal and the we get injuries

TIGERS NEED TO CUT OUR LOSSES.

We have 2 seasons at full price, Let JRey go and re used the funds.

I wasn’t haven’t a go at anyone in particular. Someone last week said emphatically it would be the next day. Then it drags out to the next week. Always sometime in the future with 48hrs being the normal standard reply. I’ll wait for the official announcement before I believe it is actually going to happen.

That was a really stupid thing for Pascoe to say, unless there's more context to it that I haven't seen. The mistake is giving the bad contract in the first place. If the bad contract is on your books, sometimes it's not a mistake to eat some of it to avoid paying all of it.

Reynolds is a pretty clear case. The coach doesn't rate him and he's injured all the time. Arguably his value to the Tigers is pretty close to zero, yet he's eating up 700-900k of salary cap. It's clearly better to get some of that cap back if the "cost" is close to zero.

What if we offer more not knowing what the Dogs are prepared to pay...

When I've sold something 2nd hand you don't undersell yourself..

That’s why the first offer you bring to them is they paying a good half of the contract then you can work your way down from there

You can only hold that position when your coach doesn't leave.

The new coach has different roster ideas.

You’d think the Dogs would rather make a play for Mbye. Sure he has niggles, but he’s worth a lot more than grub. Grub is a beat up Datsun at this stage of his career

They can’t if we aren’t letting him go, and it seems like we won’t be

Don't really care BUT....

How do you know what the post says if you don't read it?

How can they sort the new contract for Josh at the Dogs when we dont know when the 2020 season finishes? It's usually on 1 November 2020 that the 2021 season starts, but that's different this year.

Come to think of it, how does that affect payments and the salary cap? For the month of November 2020, assuming the comp is still being played, will a player be paid according to their 2020 wages or 2021 wages? And in which year will that money be counted towards the cap?
