Wonder whether a subsidised loan to the warriors for Reynolds might be good for all parties, didn’t one of their halves go down. Could give them JR and the huth if the NRL play ball with the loans ridiculous situation they got knocked back in the first place.

NRL: Hopes dashed for Josh Reynolds' fairytale Bulldogs return
By AAP

Hopes of a fairytale return to Belmore have been squashed for Josh Reynolds with the former State of Origin half to remain with the Wests Tigers.

Negotiations over a switch to Canterbury have stalled after the clubs failed to reach an agreement on how his salary, believed to be around $750,000 a season, would be divided.

While the Bulldogs are in the market for players, their former cult hero would command too much of their salary cap for 2020, with the Tigers unwilling to pay top dollar for him to play at a rival club.

On Friday Bulldogs coach Dean Pay said it was difficult to make agreements with clubs for players on huge wages while keeping the salary cap in balance. "From our point of view it's something that's gone off the boil to a certain degree," he said. "When there's large sums of money involved it's hard to manage that side of the cap and that's where it gets really difficult to manage."

Reynolds was let go by the Bulldogs at the end of 2017 after seven years and two grand finals with the club. Injury has restricted him to just 14 games for the Tigers, primarily in the halves or as a bench utility. The Bulldogs are also dealing with several injuries from their first-grade side for the season, while Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor have had their contracts de-registered.

These holes need to be filled, but only when it is the right fit says Pay.

"It's one of those things where we're always looking for quality players but you've got to be able to fit in with what we're doing salary-cap wise with different players so there's a lot of different restrictions," he said.

I think JR will be great this season and a major player for the push for a finals berth ..he is a great back up ***and will remain fresh and injury free due to no reserve grade***. I do not have a problem with him seeing out his contract .

I fail to see how no reggies can determine a players health & fitness

Sorry I thought that was self explanatory!

Obviously not seeing as I said "I fail to see... "

Maybe you can't explain it either?

Well i am glad we are playing hard ball with the price
We have him and he will come in very handy at times this year
Whether a bench player of a first grade fill in spot when someone goes down he will be very handy
But only if he stays injury free himself
If we can play josh for 20 to 30 minutes a game and he goes well
They will come knocking
If I was the club I would leave the negotiating table for now and let josh play his roll that Madge sets for him
Problem is if he performs do we want to let him go or is it time to get some value for him

We are due for some luck
I hope Josh kills it for us this year
It would be good if he can wear the 14 jersey all year
Come on as an impact player
Score a few and set up a few
Add a little niggle into the side

JR will replace Benji by round 5. Benji is washed up.

I can't see Madge persisting with him if his defence doesn't improve on the first two rounds efforts.

So 2 games left. Considering he was MOM in round 1, I think that’s unlikely. Especially when it’s clear, Reynolds isn’t in Madge’s plans.

Just because you say it, doesn't make it so.

dogs playing hard vall if we kick in more money deal will be done

Hopefully we dont back down i would rather we keep him than pay most of his contract to play at the dogs. That would be absurd imo

It’s all relative getting rid of Reynolds to save 200k is pointless unless we have a gun junior that needs the spot. Benji is no spring chicken but we really need to find a replacement for the 6 next year if Douihei locks down.

I feel for Reynolds he looked fit early in the season and he’s not going to get a game without injuries. With no NSW Cup our depth which is good will be a liability. Top heavy squads in a shortened season will be at a huge advantage

Mbye is an enigma. He SHOULD be our best fullback, he is perfect for that position, except he cant catch. IMO so far his best performances for us have been at centre (his defence has been outstanding there).

What we have seen too little of, but I was shocked when I saw it, is his passing game. He has a GREAT pass, like REALLY good. He could be a maybe a good 6 but it didn't work at the Bulldogs.

He SHOULD be a great 1 or 6 but has never made it click.

Talau is a long way off being ready for first grade

When he first joined the club and played fullback he was fantastic. Rarely made a mistake, and as you mentioned his passing is really good and he showed it then and he showed it while playing centre. I think he needs to stay there instead of being moved around he could end up going good there.
