RIP to a great man - Phil Hughes

There is talk of possibly the 1st Test being abandoned in respect and in honour of Hughesy , Brendan Julian believes the Test players won't have the mind on the job and understandably so .
What do you guys think?
What is the right thing here?
What would Phil Hughes have wanted ?

I never knew Phillip Hughes - but it breaks my heart that he has gone - he is like my brother. God is with you Phillip - your innings was perfect. Never forget you little brother.

It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.

I think the tragedy would weigh very heavily on the minds of all cricketers from both sides scheduled to play this match. It puts a cricket match into it's real context.

At the minute I request that everyone leave these questions aside, along with comments and questions about the game in general and just leave comments in this thread celebrating the life of Phil Hughes. If we start deviating at this point things will have the potential to get very ugly while the news is still raw.

Thank you.

Gutted, never ever considered he would not pull through. Like in all things like this my thoughts go out for his family and friends who have lost a special person way way to early to a freak accident.

A week ago we were talking about this summer being his chance to lock down a spot in the Australian team for good, now he's gone. Really puts things in perspective.

RIP Phil, gun cricketer and from all reports a quality bloke too.

A tragedy.., at work we all stopped and stood there watching the press conference. R.I.P

Fair enough.

Yeh me too…beachtiger also described ''numb''...how I feel...surreal.

Im not a great cricket fan, I never knew him, but for some reason he came across to me as very very likeable bloke, Im sure he was a top fella, a bit of a larrikin...R.I.P Phil Hughes.

Rest In Peace Phillip Hughes…I'll never forget the tour of South Africa in 2009 where he became the youngest player to score 2 centuries in one game! Thoughts and prayers are with his family & friends, he'll be sorely missed.

R.I.P Phil Hughes. You were taken from this Earth far too young. My condolences to his family.

Not sure if I'd wanna die doing something I love.

RIP Phil. Can't imagine what his family might be going through and Abbott as well. Hope everyone has support around them to get through this.

A sad day in cricketing history.

Been dreading this since the day it happened. You sort of convince yourself that "he'll be right…he's strong and will pull through" Then you hear the news he has passed and it hits you like a punch in the guts.

Very sad week for Phil's family and friends, the Australian cricketing community and indeed that of the world. He will be missed by many.

As one scribe wrote..."his last ever shot embodied how he played the game...it was aggressive, positive and defiant." RIP.

Same. Had to compose myself tonight whilst telling the wife.

Young man taken far too early by a freak accident.
