RLW rated our recruitment and we are a ....

Based on where we finished last year and who we have bought I dont think you can blame RLW for not rating us well. Clearly our recruitment reflects our monetary situation and the lack of ability to draw players atm. Some of new guys may surprise, but outside of Wests Tigers, fans I think most see us as having a very tough season.

I fail to understand how anybody can argue?

Obviously it's true. We lost Pat Richards & Martin Tapau, two international quality players. We did not sign any rep quality players. We signed a lot of okay depth quality players

If anybody says Tim Grant, please!~!

I think it's hilarious all these people hating the media for voicing a fair opinion lol.

The psychology of sports fans have is fascinating. Insulting their team is like insulting a family member.

Indeed. We've signed a clutch of no-names, some of whom may pan out but none of whom have shown any sign of being upper first-grade standard elsewhere in the last couple of years. And people on here want everyone to pat us on the back. Oh yeah, because we have 'depth' now. Yeah, we could run out two and a half NSW Cup quality teams - woop de do.

Well I didn't expect anyone to pat us on the back - say woop de do or anything like that.

I do expect RLW to know their product, the situation that all teams are in financially, what they are trying to achieve for the coming season, who they are buying, the talent that their buys have, what they would bring to their new club etc.

This is now nothing more than a rag, they obviously know nothing, want to know nothing and haven't any idea what the Tigers situation is.

I would have expected them to say that the Tigers have recruited well under the circumstances of having limited finances etc. Not important what rating they gave - just some clowns incompetent opinion. They could have put a positive spin on what the Tigers have done for 2016\. No of course not - Idiots.

That is ok - I don't read their rubbish, haven't done so for years, I am pretty sure they will at some stage this year have to eat humble pie - look forward to watching them eat it.

Ballin's value will no doubt be felt off the field at least. The professionalism he will bring over from Manly will prove invaluable to our youngsters who have seen more than their fair share of childish spats and excuses for continued poor results from many of our squad for years.
Ballin is a total professional from all reports around the NRL and he will instill a winning culture into our youngsters if they are willing to take it on board. That will be Ballin's valuable contribution so he is worth having at the club for that alone. They obviously thought it was a given that Robbie wasn't going to be at WT this season when Ballin was signed so he would of served more of an on-field purpose if Robbie had walked obviously.

He'll be great value during and after origin aswell. Once the other bloke knockes off for the year.

^Cherro needs to be given plenty of game time when Farah is on Origin duty too- needs to learn to be able to shoulder a big load soon because in 1 or 2 seasons both Farah and Ballin won't be here.

For sure! I'm sure he'll get plenty of game time this year.

i'm not so upset about our poor rating it just annoys me that if they are going to do thes sort of things it should be a fair and unbiased assessment across the board.

It would be great if our game was fair and unbiased but it is a long way from it,from the NRL heirachy down there are different rules for different clubs.
Can't wait for the season to start to see what our boys can do, if we can salvage some respect and pride back in our club it will be a monumental step forward after almost self-destructing.
Bring it on :sign:

Ballins worth every cent as far as Im concerned. He'll keep Farah from feeling as though he's the only option. It's the fire cracker up his bum that he needs to perform. That alone is worth plenty as Farah at his best is formidable. However, who knows whats around the corner with him and his scheming manager? Ballin keeps everything in check.

The F rating is just typical of the general media attitude towards the WT's. So predictable it's not funny. Our recruitment has been first class given the cash limitations. I'd love to see these blokes absolutely rip in. And I reckon Tim Grant will absolutely go hard this season with some no frills blokes digging in along side him.

x2

IMHO, our recruitment this year was very good, one of the best 'value for money' for the last 10 years :sign:

Agree with the second part; somewhat disagree with the first. I don't think having a 32yo who's played 1 representative game 6 years ago hanging around is an enticement to play well. We've got Cherrington and Halatou as suitable replacements through injury if required. If I'm Robbie, I'm worried about being shown up by a younger stallion rather than someone 1 year my senior. If Ballin was purchased as an insurance policy to make Robbie play well, then we really deserve an F.

Has anyone actually read the article?
Im assuming theres more than just the ratings list, would be interesting to see HOW they came to this conclusion

really the recruitment is very poor on face value. but it is a lot better than last season. after watching the NSW cup side last year we need a clean out and we have got a lot of players in who want a chance and they may not be top class 1st graders but i think they will do well this year. just hope pea brain JT gives players a go if the 1st choice players are not preforming.

I have, and it is based on a number of things, how players performed last year, who is improving, what were the teams strengths and weaknesses last year, who they lost compared with who they bought, each team has a double page spread.
There is also a piece on a player who you don't know but will by seasons end, in our case it is Seve, the player the team can not afford to lose to injury and a few other things, like the most testing part of the season for each team.
It is a fair indication of what has transpired, we put our selves in the position to not have money to spend, and we recruited with limited funds because of it, so an F is probably close to the money.
Does that mean we will come last, maybe not, players might step up, there maybe diamonds in the rough from our new buys, champion teams win games, not a team of champions.

Again apart from 2-3 players we will be reliant on the potential standing up this season

If those players (and there is a lot of them , that's the problem )who have been talked up for multiple years don't stand up it won't be pretty

If they do , we have a chance

On field performances, should do the talking.

No use, telling the media, how good you are, or are going to be if you can't back it up on field.

who buys this magazine or any magazine for that matter?
out of curiosity…

I know theres a few older posters who would still buy newspapers...
but really ... all that is accessible for free - online.

Mrs works at a newsagency , this was not sold in time so they get credits when they send back the covers

Parra's rating would be a triple A+….with a few question marks I'd say.
How a team that is on notice for salary cap breaches can offload a dud like Hopoate in exchange for 3 Test players and Michael Gordon rings a few alarm bells for mine. Would love to be able to swindle that sort of accounting.
