has anyone here ever seen nofo play centre out of curiosity? i've seen it bandied around a lot, and i too have definitely considered it, but im not sure if he can handle it it defensively as i've only seen him play wing.

like the rest of the line up though. wouldn't mind sue to switch with fulton, but he'll likely play at 13 after his stint in RLWC13.

Gee whiz I like this line up. Back to big ball playing second rowers and a mobile lock that can hit a gap. There are plenty of points in this side, and we aren't relying on one player to fill the Marshall void as we have attacking flare all over the park.

Defense will be the key…

I love this side after twenty or so minutes TS

I'd rather a side that can keep it real tight early on and then attack the second twenty of the 1st half

We don't want to be chasing the lead every week with a young playmaker

Let Brooks get eased into games and play behind a strong pack that will set the tone with strong defence

The other issue this season could be Woods

If the stories regarding his knee are true we can't expect him to play the same minutes he was playing in previous seasons

Noffa played centre in SG Ball (although his preferred spot was fullback)

He went well, but at that level, he would of went well in most spots.

I believe he is probably best suited to wing, I think that 4 of our 5 3/4's are all best suited to wing….so one of them at least will have to swap, id also like to play all of them if I could.

i see simona as a centre in our team, we have way too many wingers otherwise.

The problem is we don't have enough Centre's.
From what I can see from the gallery's and training video's Lawrence, Simona and Lulia are the only ones I can make out as centres.
I can see Nofoaluma and Thompson having to filling in for a few games at centre during the year.

1\. tedesco - no question he has to be no.1 imo
2\. simona - awesome there last year so keep him there
3\. lawrence - hope he can get back to his old self
4\. nofo or sirronen - i dont mind the idea of trying sirro out here. if it goes well it goes well. if not, you can always move him
5\. richards - i just think he has to be in the side because of the value added through getting the extra 2 more often than not/long range penalties
6\. anasta - i just think he is the best option (particularly for brooks) at this stage. hopefully austin will show himself to be the right guy, but i wouldnt mind sironen here.
7\. brooks - no brainer.
8\. woods - "
9\. farah - "
10\. blair - i think he has found his position here
11\. sironen - def starter…wherever that may be!
12\. tapau - dont have a clue about him to be honest! i just get the feeling he will be good!
13\. BMM - deserves a spot due to good form end of last year

14\. galloway - i think he is now suited to the bench
15\. fulton - work horse who seems to be a real "heart of the team" type player
16\. halatau - good bench value
17\. patterson/sue - whoevers playing better

pretty much the consensus 17, just with a few positional changes. i think the big issue could be the centres as well, but i think sironen could do well there if need be.

Every time I doubt Simona he proves me wrong…....but I just don't see him defensively being up to Centre. I think Potter noted out deficiencies in defence out wide and for that reason purchased Lulia.

Would love Tim to prove me wrong but I also think Lulia has plenty to offer.

TS a lot of people talk about Simona's defensive issues , but I can't remember him missing many tackles

Compare that Rowdy defence the last two years and Simona looks like Fulton

But that has been the problems with the Tigers , we have so many areas teams can focus on in attack that some may go unnoticed

Tedesco
Richards
Lawrence
Simona
Nofoaluma
Anasta
Brooks
Blair
Fulton
Sironen
Woods
Farah
Galloway

Taupau
Ava Seumanufagai
Patterson
BMM
Sue

I can't split the 3 in the back row so I haven't (and yes I know its soft)

Kind of off topic here, but I watched the BMM video on weststigers.com.au today.

I find it very interesting that he's not the first young Tigers superstar to Single out Adam Blair as being the greatest help and influence on them when it comes to training, technique, and fitness.

Despite all the crap he cops, it sounds like behind the scenes he is worth his weight in gold.

Just an observation, that's all.

Yeah mate,

And some Polynesian boys only relate well to other Polynesians.

Blair is really the only senior Polynesian we have had.

Good on him, just need him to perform on the field as well

He's clearly being used in a leadership role particularly with some of the Polynesian boys.

There's no doubt he has the goods; perhaps without Benji around he will step it up on the paddock.

It will be interesting to see how he and Farah work together in that respect.

PL

Someone called in to talkin sport to advise:

Sauce & Brooks will be right for rd 1.
Rowdy, Austin & Siro have impressed at training.
Anasta will have first crack at 5/8
Young Bailey Sironen is one to watch for the future, currently a 5/8

May be just another rumour but at least it's all positive.

What's the rumour ?
That's great Lawrence is impressing at training all he needs now is to impress on the field. Hasn't done a lot in the last two years, was pretty lousy last year and still kept his spot.
Can't afford another year carrying both him and Blair again if it's going to be more of the same.

Blair was a success at storm because they played a structured no nonsense no sideways direct game.

I think we will finally see the real Blair this year and I think he has the goods.

But when you have someone throwing no look passes to row 15 and midfield bombs on last tackle and not finding touch at critical points of the game you go nowhere and make everyone look bad for you effort.
