Loving the new interface, it's much clearer and the speed at which it loads is noticeably faster

Just one quick question, are we able to quote other posts in roarfeed? I can't seem to find a way to do it

Thanks for all your work kul, it's much appreciated!

Had trouble after installing the new update. No Reply button, no hot topics displayed and settings not sticking. Re-installed app and Reply button came up. Still no hot topics and settings not sticking. Put it to one side for about half an hour while I did something else and when I looked at it again all came good.

Stability is an issue. I seem to have reached some limit on the forum and additional threads I access now close the application. Example threads that closes the app are:
Forum>>West Tigers>>Our Backrow
Forum>>West Tigers>>Heighno

Fan shout still causing the error that others have previously reported with the previous version. “There was a problem trying to load fan shouts”

It would also be nice to have a "view First unread post" function when accessing a thread.

Despite the issues I am having the forum interface is a big improvement, so many thanks Kul.

Edit: Forgot to add I'm using an iPhone 4 with the latests updates.

There was a bug just after the release. It has since been fixed on the server so all should be good now.

re limit: yes there is a limit on the number of threads. This is in place simply to save you from downloading threads from ages ago for no reason. It's a numerical limit of 40 i think so only threads from yonks ago shouldn't appear. Honestly, when do people read threads that havn't been touched in over a month?

re error: that's the first time i've seen that. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm pretty confident I know what's causing it and should be able to fix it fairly easily without the need for an update.

again, am looking into that. It seems to work for some people though…

will try and get that in the next update. Obviously some functionality hasn't been ported over into the iphone version but this was kind of done intentionally.

It is a big improvement, yes!
I was hoping to have this in the initial release but it was delayed due to time. As more and more updates come out, things will continue to improve. It would be nice to get it ALL done in one big hit, but since I'm only working on this in spare time it's a difficult.
But again, the current update has taken the forum to a new level and everyone seems pretty pleased
not bad for someone who didn't have a clue about iphone programing back in November

Pretty damn good I’d say.

Well done Kul,

Quick question, did you write the app in Xcode on a Mac or write it in another language and use a converter to get the app code?

If you used xCode do you have any good references for a beginner to learn?

Thanks

It's written in Objective-C using Xcode. The new Xcode 4 is great.
James A Brannan's books are pretty good, although there are a few others out there.
Also google.

do you have much experience coding?

Mainly windows based stuff. About 7 years using Delphi, more recently c# and WPF based applications.

Will google books by Mr Brannan and see what there is.

Thanks for that.

Hey Kul,

Is the forum list active yet? My RoarFeed is finally working after upgrading to iOS4 on my 3GS, but the only thing it struggles with is listing the forum topics.

Here's the anomaly though: It will show the hot topics which I can view but then when I try to post a comment it won't allow it?

I have the latest version of iOS4.

ahhh

this is only affecting you and three other people and I know exactly why. It's got to do with your forum permissions as you have special access to some areas.

will have a look at it right now. should be easy to fix…
