Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

I am getting dizzy with all this spin!

The only thing that I will be looking for next year is that players, no matter who they are, or how long that they have been with the club, get selected on form only.

Reading some posts around makes me realise how many plastics there are on wtf which do not reflect the views of 99% of the Wests Tigers following.

Agreed….its bizarro world in here.

Your last sentence is a bit contradictory BB. Since "We don't know exactly what Robbie's been doing" tell us what BS he should cut out, and what do you know about his ego? And as for your suggestion that he should train hard like he doesn't allready? From all reports over his time at WT he's been known as a very good , hard trainer. As for listening to the coach? Where is the proof he isn't? Just asking in case you know something we don't.

It's not contradictory. Obviously the coach and management feel that Robbie is being disruptive and having a negative influence on the culture of the club. Of course i'm not a player or a coach at the club and haven't seen first hand what's going on. None of us have. But obviously he has some behavioural issues which he needs to address (hence the meeting in December).

They wouldn't bar him from training with the NRL boys if it was only a personal spat between Robbie and JT. It has to be something which they feel would drag down the entire squad for them to take such drastic actions. The club has never come out and aired all the dirty laundry on Robbie, and nor should they. So the public doesn't have any proof, presumably the club does though hence why these drastic actions are being taken to rectify the culture of our struggling club.

Well then, until we get all the true facts about this situation, we'll just keep ourselves entertained by theorising, speculating and guessing.

If it's on Sportal it must be true.

If Farah does hang around, he'd want to play out of his skin next year otherwise it could backfire spectacularly on him.

I hope everyone plays out of their skins next year CB. Not just Robbie.
I don't want to see us last on the ladder again.

True, this doesn't just revolve around Farah on the pitch. He was not the only player out there not living up to his price tag. Everyone has to pull their fingers out next year, save maybe Teddy.

Assuming Farah stays, and the odds are shortening that he will, I wonder how the club will go about publicising it. It will be a really humiliating back down …. The likes of which I've never seen before. Maybe they won't say much at all .... Probably better they don't.

I believe they will Knuckles. I guess a trait of good management is realising when a gamble doesn't play out and admitting it. The pressure is on everyone next year. After having a less than spectacular year on the field, Farah will be under pressure to justify his price tag, JT will be under pressure to deliver results and work reliably with Farah and the CEO/board will be under pressure to ensure the decision to back JT and keep Farah on is the right one.

I have a feeling that this is going to explode next year and we'll be worse off than when Potter was a dead man walking.

It could also just as easily go the other way too. 2016 is shaping up as a very interesting season for Wests Tigers. We could well see a number of players finally hitting their mark.

Absolutely right…

If Robbie was hindered from playing his natural game maybe that was why he was not living up to his price tag - don't blame him. Anyway hopefully now there will be goodwill all around, amongst players, coaches, fans and forum-chatters to at least get in the top half of the points ladder. They could call it a draw amongst themselves and put behind them. Robbie seems to be big enough to do that from the interviews. And Potter has to remember Deng Xioa Ping's saying: It does not matter if the cat is black or white as long as it catches the mouse.

I think if you start measuring players performances based on their price tag you are bound to be disappointed. Did Greg Inglis earn what he was worth this year - probably not. Is he worth less this year because of that - doubt it. It seems that if you want to retain and or attract good players you are going to have to pay for them. As for FARAH no one was measuring his performances two years ago when he was playing for less than what he was worth. Now some are hell bent on measuring him based on a figure that is inclusive of money owed to him.

Hardly
- Any big money/name player you can bother to dream up isn't in the same category…
You have a short memory, I can think of one game in the last few years Farah played like the marquee player he is selling himself as. The last one before that was the 63 tackle origin game years ago, Even then - It wasn't for us.
Farah hasn't cared about anything outside Origin for 4 years, And wouldn't have played half a dozen "Marquee Player" games for us since 2011... I can't think of any "Marquee" player you can say that about - Except maybe Barba....

Thats because Batboy you dont rate him, dont like him, or both. I got that a long time ago. But those on big money will always carry a higher level of expectation and they dont always live up to it - for various reasons. He is a representative player and with that comes a price tag. His next contract if there is one will be reflective of his age and his form. But his current contract is reflective of where he was at when he signed it. And we will have to agree to dis agree I believe clubs often don t get their value from their marquee players - for the very fact that they are overcommitted due to representative fixtures and the demands of a long competition.

I have drifted in and out of following league and only partially knowing how it all works but I always wondered how could clubs afford to lose their best players representing state or country. There is the downside of course but an upside could be learning new tactics in the game by a top coach of the rep side, this could be bought back to the club. Because we also want our rep teams to do well we probably have no choice but to tolerate.

I just had a browse on other forums…
Supposedly he's been linked with;

Souths
Canberra
Knights
Dragons
Bulldogs
Manly, Swap deal for Ballin & Mason.

You don't think that he has been playing in a mostly innefectual team with some ordinary coaches, has contributed to any perceived drop in form.????????

Why these men have chips on their shoulder: NRL players with biggest point to prove

ROBBIE FARAH
You can take the man out of the Tigers but you can’t take the Tigers out of the man … wait, what?

Despite being told he’s free to find a new home for 2016, the Wests Tigers skipper has dug his heels in and crossed his arms.

Farah’s not going anywhere.

A strained relationship with coach Jason Taylor and the threat of spending 2016 playing NSW Cup hasn’t been enough to move Farah from the club’s Concord base.

So it looks like Taylor and Farah are going to be forced to play happy families next season.

With two years left to run on his deal, all eyes will be on the hooker and how he follows Taylor’s direction next season.

Laurie Daley has already declared he’s not afraid to pick Farah in the NSW Origin side should he spend the year playing reserve grade but the pressure is on for Farah to perform.

The Tigers’ halves are a year older and Taylor has shown he wants the team’s direction coming from the young playmakers.

Now it’s up to Farah to let the young guns do their thing and go about his business without causing a ruckus.

"Laurie Daley has already declared he’s not afraid to pick Farah in the NSW Origin side should he spend the year playing reserve grade but the pressure is on for Farah to perform." - Are not coaches supposed to pick players based on their current form. I am not sure that every other NSW qualified hooker would have been enthused with Daley after this silly statement.

Theres nothing to say…nothing to back down from, club has said all along they would honour his contract.
