Did Greg Inglis earn what he was worth this year - probably not. Is he worth less this year because of that - doubt it. It seems that if you want to retain and or attract good players you are going to have to pay for them. As for FARAH no one was measuring his performances two years ago when he was playing for less than what he was worth. Now some are hell bent on measuring him based on a figure that is inclusive of money owed to him.
Hardly
- Any big money/name player you can bother to dream up isn't in the same category…
You have a short memory, I can think of one game in the last few years Farah played like the marquee player he is selling himself as. The last one before that was the 63 tackle origin game years ago, Even then - It wasn't for us.
Farah hasn't cared about anything outside Origin for 4 years, And wouldn't have played half a dozen "Marquee Player" games for us since 2011... I can't think of any "Marquee" player you can say that about - Except maybe Barba....
Thats because Batboy you dont rate him, dont like him, or both. I got that a long time ago. But those on big money will always carry a higher level of expectation and they dont always live up to it - for various reasons. He is a representative player and with that comes a price tag. His next contract if there is one will be reflective of his age and his form. But his current contract is reflective of where he was at when he signed it. And we will have to agree to dis agree I believe clubs often don t get their value from their marquee players - for the very fact that they are overcommitted due to representative fixtures and the demands of a long competition.
Think back to the back end of last seeson….all he did was tackle, tackle and tackle...yeah people were getting all in a jizz over his stats, 50 and 60 tackles per game, big whoop...he was doing nothing else, he was waiting for forwards to run at him, and he tackled...he was on auto, there was little talk, no creativity...no imagination, no scheming...he was Dallas Johnson.
Clubs, particulalrly those down the bottom are under pressure to play players on big coin regardless of whatever form theyre in...those looking for teams to be selected on form only are living in the past
