where do the dollars and cents come from?

Well for us at the moment I'd say sponsorship, jersey stickers, NRL grant, and guaranteed money at ANZ. The turnouts at LO and CSS of late would suggest it's probably costing money to play there, so the money fans tip in would be marginal by comparison.

You know what brings fans through the gates? I'll give you a hint, it has something to with not being on the wrong end of the result and not watching ageing players not living up to their pay packet. Sentimentally, it's never nice to watch someone who has played most of their career with the club move on, but it's very much a results driven business. If you don't perform you get rissoled.

Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

lol nrl, sponsorship, corporate dollar, players- there is none of this without fans. and as you said, fans run on EMOTION!

From what Robbie had been through the last couple years he should go to England for his mental health. The guy bashes himself.

Robbie go to england. Play in an easier competition. Watch the soccer. See the world. You've won a competition, played origin, played for Australia. You have nothing to prove. You don't have to carry the world on your shoulders.

This is an awful decision by the club.
My opinion is that this is going to have a negative butterfly effect on the team.
Besides that, shameful way to treat a club legend.

Good luck Robbie, you and Benji will always be the Wests Tigers.

Well Said…
What a disgrace of the highest to throw a man of his honour two games prior to the end of the year, including at least 10 other quality players...
This is all because of that pathetic magpies coach

Shame on the wests tigers

I wont be signing my membership or Finances my company donates yearly

NRL this game has crumbled.

Reports that Robbie met with Maguire three weeks ago, so the plot thickens.

And Taylor was unaware of this. Maybe it's not all as it seems

What is happening to our club?
Robbie has always given his all for the tigers and played busted for years. He has 1 below average year and we suddenly decide he isn't worth the money WE agreed to pay him. He is the current nsw vice captain, the only experienced player going into next year and a club legend. Talk about lacking respect. I would hate to think where we would be without him holding this club together. The board are quick to forget HE was the one who stopped Tedesco leaving last year. We are going to get the wooden spoon with the the fullback of the year in our team. I'd hate to imagine how much worse this year would have been without our one bright spot (Tedesco).
This will tear our team apart for years. Tapau, tedesco, Moses etc should and will, get as far away from Taylor as soon as they can.
We are all long suffering fans and bag out the sheens era, but at least we were exciting to watch and our players looked like they were having fun. This year we are boring and un-interested. We may have only won the 1 comp, but can anyone say we are better off now then when we had marshall, heighington, fifita, Ryan etc? I'd happily go back to those days. Taylor needs to understand how to manage and coach different types of players. Not all are roosters type robots that stick to boring structure. Good coaches understand and develop individual skills, not coach it out of them.
We may not be the most successful club but we were always the most exciting. That's who the tigers are.
I hope robbie stays and fights and the fans push for a coach who understands who we are as a club.

Our 'fantastic' tight ship of a club lets the word slip out before Farah can say anything himself and then, sprouting they will pay him the respect he deserves, tells him he'll be playing reserves if he stays.
Apart from what he has done for the club in the past this is the current SOO hooker we are talking about.
Farah then demonstrates true class by saying he will not discuss playing for other clubs out of respect for the jersey he still wears (and bleeds for).
Next we see all the haters get their turn to put the boot into him and extend their vitriol to former team mates sticking up for someone they obviously look up to - even Blake Austin who didn't play that much with him put in his 2 cents worth.
Obviously the ones still playing can't comment but why shouldn't his friends and former team mates, just like his fans, say what they think?
If you agree with the decision to let him go then fine, you are entitled to your opinion.
However, some on here are taking the chance to degrade everything associated with Farah both now. and in the past - disgraceful and poor form by even the lowest set of standards.

Utterly appalling treatment of a club legend. I sincerely hope the club parts company with Jason Taylor without delay. His TV interview on the subject was an absolute disgrace which underlines a distinct lack of diplomacy, tact, understanding of people management and most importantly, communication abilities. Clearly lacking the pre-requisite skills of a top flight NRL coach and never should have been signed by the club in the first instance. The Board must also accept its share of responsibility for this debacle.

Actually, I didn't say that… Someone else did, and I tried quoting and adding to it from RoarFeed and it didn't work.

Fans like one thing more than one club players, and that's a club that actually wins, wins well and wins often. I would trade ten Farahs for a team that has it's act together on the field and regularly makes the finals.

Well i'm one of those who are not happy to hear this news
He may run the boys club but on-field he gives it his all

What i dont understand about WT is why do we kick our captains out
Brett Hodgson went to UK
Now Farah is on the outer too

Seems to be a curse being a captain ATM

Souths are out.

Robbie Farah shapes as a bargain acquisition for an NRL team after South Sydney, who had been described as early favourites to recruit the discarded Wests Tigers captain, ruled themselves out of picking him up next year.
>
The 31-year-old's future beyond this season remained uncertain on Wednesday despite the efforts of his management behind the scenes in the past month when it became clear the Tigers premiership player was not in the club's plans.
>
Blasting the Tigers for an "outrageous" decision, Farah's agent, Sam Ayoub, said he had received offers from several English Super League teams but the NSW State of Origin hooker wants to remain in the NRL and preferably in Sydney.
>
The agent said the Tigers needed to "look up the word respect in the dictionary", accusing them of moving Farah on in an effort to deflect attention away from their poor performance this season.
>
"The club is in the position that it is because of, I suppose, an incompetent level of management over the years," Ayoub said. "I can't be criticised for being honest. That seems to be carrying forward at the moment.
>
"Everybody in management there has been there the best part of six months at most. They're not aware of the structure of his contract; you would have thought that they would have looked into things a little bit more before making such an outrageous decision."
>
Souths were the first club linked with Farah after news broke of the Tigers' desire to offload him, with the pending departure of New Zealand international Issac Luke to the Warriors and the presence of Farah's brother Eddie at Redfern - he is the club's physio - mentioned as contributing factors.
>
However, the premiers distanced themselves from a move for Farah on Wednesday, insisting they would retain faith in their two dummy halves, Cameron McInnes and Paul Carter. McInnes was in May re-signed until the end of the 2017 season while Carter was a mid-season arrival after being sacked by Gold Coast Titans. Titans coach Neil Henry also ruled out his team as a new home for Farah on Thursday.
>
The timing in which the Tigers-Farah split came to a head complicates the process of him finding a new home for next season. Most clubs already have their rosters for next year finalised. But with the Tigers so desperate to see the back of him that they told him he would be playing reserve grade and training part time next year if he stayed, they will be prepared to pay a large share of his $950,000 contract, creating a bargain for any interested rivals.
>
Ayoub said there had been offers made from abroad as he laid into the management at Concord Oval.
>
"We have been approached by a number of Super League clubs in recent weeks. Those that are seeking to place him where he deserves as a marquee player," Ayoub told the Big League podcast. "Robbie has got a lot of football left in the NRL."
>
Ayoub also refuted suggestions that Farah had played a role in the departures of previous coaches Tim Sheens and Mick Potter.
>
"Robbie was involved in neither of them - and that's a fact," he said. "Again this comes back to management. When you have poor management they need to fob attention for decisions that they make onto others and unfortunately that club has been littered with those sort of decisions over the last few years."
>
Manaia Cherrington, who made his NRL debut this season, is likely to be Farah's successor at hooker next year. Origin prop Aaron Woods, who has deputised for Farah as captain this season, is expected to assume the Tigers leadership.

Just watched NRL 360 . Taylor and Farah's relationship was reported to be untenable .
Paul Kent also said Farah wasn't part of JT's plan in moving forward and that Farah doesn't sit well with his team mates .

As for Taylor's interview he's a Tool .
I hope Taylor is moved on sooner than later !

Where has Go been hiding throughout all of this schemozzle? Parked in front of the telly stuffing her face with Krispy Kremes and watching reruns of Laverne and Shirley? By all means be the puppet-master making the tough decisions but for Christ's sake have the gumption and guts to face the media and the scrutiny that comes with it all. Don't leave it to the coach, what is this the under 12's? Weak as water.

True class. He let slip he was told he would be playing reserve grade when the club stated it's position was all they've done was tell Robbie he was free to negotiate with other teams. Sure the reserve grade bit was told in confidence.

The following can't be true can it? If it is, I just don't understand the decision regarding Farah in the slightest… Channel 7 news said during sport that Wests Tigers will have to pay out the ENTIRETY of Robbie Farah's contract...

Nah, that's not true. Whatever the new club pays (presuming that happens) will come out of our cap space.

They told him and they haven't denied it- he didn't make it up.

Here's a question: what is the break-even value for Robbie to be offloaded? Assuming he is on $900K as reported for the last two years, how much of that needs to be picked up by another club to make it worthwhile?

I can't imagine there is any point moving Farah on if we only save $200K-$300K per year, surely that is hardly worth it? What would that money do for us, we could buy one average player? Or upgrade a few players? Who needs an upgrade, who deserves one?

Tim Moltzen has been the only current player coming out in support of Farah. Yes, Moltzen is leaving but so too are Richards and Galloway. Not a peep out of them in social media land. Interesting …...
