Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Disgraceful decision letting Robbie go imo. Has been the heart and soul of the club for years. But thats ok, we will be fine running around with a team of Kindergarten kids the next couple of years

Sentimentality doesn't win premierships. If we can make 2 or 3 massive signings going into 2017 off the back of money left over from guys like Farah, Lawrence and Galloway, i'm all for it. I know it sounds like the old cliche of more waiting, but if marquee signings, or at least being in the running for marquee signings is what the end result is here, then i'm all for it. Farah is not going to make us a better side, so why not save the money, take our lumps for another yr, and try and gear up for a massive 2017 and beyond?

Funny how once Marshal left it set off a chain reaction where we have gone from glamour club to scrap.

When Sheens was punted and Marshall quickly after, I feared the worse for the club.

Love them or hate them, those 2 combined bought in plenty of coin for the Tigers. I'd suggest losing Marshall could've cost the club up to $5m a year.

It's a sad state of affairs in Tigerland!

It's a tough decision, Farah has given so much to the club over the years and is certainly one of the better modern day hookers running around. Having said that, the club is trying its hardest to re-structure with the aim of of being competitive in the next couple of years and this move should free up some significant cash. As good as Robbie is, he hasn't been at the peak of his powers this year and Cherrington has looked sharp with limited chances, plus there is Jacob Liddle developing nicely too.

Farah will surely attract plenty of interest from other clubs, but it may just allow the Tigers to chase some quality players in positions where we are weak.

Pretty sad to read this, but it is a business. Let's hope they show the same courtesy to Lawrence too he is also dead wood imo.

I remember some dark years where Robbie was the only shinning light and was runner up in the dally M. I felt so sorry for him because he was playing in a garbage side. Anyone remember which years they were?

What a legend.

07 and 09

The bottom line is will be still paying up to 50% of his contract value. Their is no way any club will pick up his full contract.

Its probably the way to go,but the troops could start to get restless seeing a club legen being pushed out the door. Like most other people I would have liked to see Farah leave on his own terms, but the place is in a shambles so I guess some very hard calls need to be made and this is just one of them

Not being sentimental. Sure he hasnt been at his best this year, but he is still a match winner. When Benji used to go missing, who would step up to the plate every week? Robbie would.

Our young halves need his steady and calming influence more than ever on the field. This club is going downhill fast

32 next yr, and his best days well and truly behind him. There's a lot more upside than downside in letting him loose. Take out the sentimental factor and its a no brainer.

100% agree. Great decision by the club.

Benji left 2 yrs ago. Farah was the backbone of this side from 06-09 yes, but that period has been over for 6 yrs. When was the last time he won us a game like you have described? As someone else said, he's just a defensive machine these days, and those are a dime a dozen.

stunned about this news. robbie is a weststigers legend but he is in his career twilight.
hope he gets a gig in england then he can get a season ticket for his reds.
would absolutely spew if he went to the scum at sowfs.

This is the last straw guys officially done with the club, off field and onfield this team is a joke, the loyalty this guy have for 10 years his mother to the team…

the club is a compelte basket case joke and it all started at the end of 2011 when they decided to clean the club out

that is it for me no longer a tigers fan no long ANY fan will watch games as a spectator

His brother is on the coaching staff.

Agree with Gunners. Take out the emotion. He's on the wrong side of thirty, we're not getting value for money and he's looking to be more focused on Origin.

He's served the club well. Carried us on a rooted back from 06-09, but he's not looking interested and the club is suffering also. Let him finish up with a sweetheart deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to England and buys a season ticket to Anfield.

Under Jason Taylor's gameplans he has become a defensive machine. Taylor has taken away Robbie's flair and creativity which is what made him the best hooker in the comp.
