Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Whichever side of the fence you sit on the whole Farah v Taylor/Board situation the unfortunate aftermath is the fractured forum we will be left with for some time to come.
What's worse, and even sadder, is to see forum members who joked along with each other, and us all, now seemingly at each others throats in a battle of oneupmanship.
To be honest I'm not totally immune from this criticism either.
What I find to be most embarrassing is to see people (on both sides of the divide) need to resort to the character assassination of Farah, Taylor, Go and all the people involved without knowing any real facts.
My personal view is that the board let it get out of hand and should have forced a resolution between coach and captain before anybody got wind of this.
As much as there is the call for a strong board and a coach with total control the truth is that most supporters don't follow a coach or board - they follow the team and it's players.
In Farah's case he's the captain, longest serving player and, arguably, the most passionate WestsTigers player of them all.
It's hard to imagine that nobody on the board could have foreseen how this would play out the way it has been presented to the fans.
Now we lose if Farah goes and Taylor gets the boot - and vice versa.
There is no winner in this.
If the sponsors get their knickers in a knot and pull out we're in an even bigger hole.
Whether you like him or not everybody knows Farah is not a reserve grade, part time footballer.
In my opinion the board, Taylor and Farah need to sit down and work out how Farah can stay for a year to transition the team and leave graciously to a final year in the UK.
I know that's not everyones opinion - but everyone is entitled to one.
As for the forum, I think it's about time we took getting personal and abusive out of the debate.

I agree with you its more inexperience as a result of the NRL appointing people out of their depth to run this club. This is a difficult coaching job and we needed to get the NRL to tip in more to buy a more proven coach who could rebuild the club and cover up the lack of Rugby League pedigree in management. Farah has been a victim in this and his position (not wanting to leave) is understandable.

It all adds up to Farah being out of a job in Australia, which may explain why one former, out of work, Wests Tigers coach sent a text message this week to a former board member, using the word "karma".

Sheens or Potter?

I haven't talked with Farah or Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor in a decade, nor with Taylor's assistant, Rod "Rocket" Reddy whom I coached at St George. "Rocket", apart from being a former international back-rower, is one of those jovial, amiable types that intense coaches like having around the clubhouse to lighten the mood. I'm told it was "Rocket" who communicated the message to Farah that he would be playing reserve grade should he remain at the Tigers.

For him to render this brutal cut, there must be a serious disconnect between Farah and the coaching staff.

Despite the disclaimer, Masters has coached teams and had dropped players. He is using his experience to make the observation that if Farah was told he would be playing reserve grade, then there is a serious problem.

I read the comments about Reddy as he simply made a flippant comment to Farah in a jovial context.

Personally, it makes more sence than the Head Coach sitting down with Farah or Ayoub and delivering such a comment?

As we get closer to Beer o Clock in Tigerland, the truth will come out!

The saying goes, "once you listen to the supporters, it won't be long until you're sitting in the stands with them"

There's so many old sayings around that you can pull one out to suit whatever your argument is , whenever it is.
A load of codswallop.

Ive listened to every man and his dog character assassinate anyone and everyone famous who has dared comment on this situation.

Not one of them has written or said anything as ill informed or poorly researched as the Roy Masters article.

Yes well i dont think anyone directly involved in the matter saw it as jovial.

There is another on SMH regarding Harry T stepping in meeting Farah, Taylor separately this week and dave Smith next week.

I was told last week Wests may want out of the Tigers and Harry T may get his wish subject to NRL approval. Watch this space.

Where does this clown get off - he has pulled his sponsorship but still thinks he can tell the club what they should do - F OFF HARRY.

No Harry has been a long term sponsor and supporter of the club. I welcome his involvement and there is no need for profanity. I am sure the WTs brand will remain regardless of ownership.

and not everyone is backing Robbie. Nathan Brown and Mick Potter on Sterlo both virtually said it would be a good thing for both the club and Robbie to part ways. The panel talked about culture being more about leadership and all being on the same page without question. The inference was that Robbie while a good leader isn't always on the same page as everyone else. As good a player as he is and has been for this club I think he should go.

Thats a very one sided way of looking at that interview.

The most noticeable aspect of it for me was when Sterlo asked if the Tigers were getting the best out of Farah, Brown and Potter were climbing over each others comments both defending the guy and implying the coaching structures at the Tigers were not suiting him or not allowing him to play his natural game. They didnt hold back.

But hey you dont like the guy, many dont. Whats new.

Taylor has used this season ( and wasted ) it to see where were at ….
Taylor would be best used as a deck hand on a submarine !

Wonder what the alleged new sponsor thinks of all this rubbish, or if he's still our new alleged new sponsor?
You would have to think that a lot of people would be gun shy of having their company name linked with this train wreck of a club.

Agreed, he has wasted this year.

Unfortunately next year it is on the board.

The article says a lot of things that people have already argued and discussed feverishly on this forum since the news broke of Robbie may or may not be leaving…
Blame has been cast on many within the club, from board members to coach, coaching staff and even player managers....
As I said in earlier opinions of this saga......."in the end the truth will come out"...unless there are those on this forum close to the inside operations of this football club, nobody can really say if it is RF fault or Taylor's fault or whoevers fault...
And it doesn't matter if you favour Robbie or if you favour Taylor...some people will be left with a bad taste in their mouth if they have been arguing wrongly without the facts being known......
I myself have had my opinions, but every day something new or someone else comes up with more " I have heard scenarios ",until these turn into "we now know for sure from the club" then I will leave this Robbie debate to the people who know and want to resolve it satisfactorily.......

I'm not sure that any things helped by having HT beinging involved, as in a previous interview Harry has admitted not understanding Football.
He said. ( I like it , but don't understand it very well".
We already have a board with the same qualifications( although I'm not sure how much they actually like it)
He would have been more helped if he had thrown some extra money in to help buy an experienced Coach.
Not one who is so insecure that he'd rather get rid of a player like Farah, who if used properly is a major asset to this club

Wests Tigers sponsor Harry Triguboff intervenes in Robbie Farah v Jason Taylor feud

Date September 2, 2015 - 10:00PM 97 reading now

Adrian Proszenko
Chief Rugby League Reporter

Wests Tigers major sponsor Harry Triguboff will personally intervene in an attempt to end the Jason Taylor-Robbie Farah feud and plans to involve NRL CEO Dave Smith in the process.

Triguboff, one of the richest men on the planet, is sick of watching Tigers products move on to stardom at rival teams. The billionaire businessmen has invested millions of dollars into the club over the years and wants to see the joint-venture outfit fulfil its potential. To that end, Triguboff has scheduled to meet Farah on Thursday, while he has also arranged an audience with Smith early next week.

"I have my ideas as to how to help the situation," Triguboff told Fairfax Media. "The interesting thing is this - we used to have such good players and wherever they go they are top players. I look at Canberra and [Blake] Austin is now their best player. When he was with us, we used him here and there, I don't know where to find him. Even Benji [Marshall] is OK. The guy at the Broncos [Adam Blair], he's the best player they've got. Then you have [Marika Koroibete at Melbourne] and [Cronulla's Andrew] Fifita - once they leave they are the best players.
\

\
"What I propose to do is sit down separately, first with Jason Taylor and then I propose to sit down separately with Farah. Then I will sit down with Smith. Then, I think I will work something out. I'm in a hurry to do it because we need to fix it before we fall apart completely. Then we will have to start rebuilding the whole thing. Their strength is they have got me and the young players, that's what they have to keep. The rest will come good. I am trying to organise it. We're definitely not letting the grass grow under our feet."

Farah is contracted to the Tigers for the next two seasons and will chew up $1.9 million of the salary cap over that time. The NSW hooker has been told he will be playing in the NSW Cup if he can't find another home, but has vowed to dig his heels in. The Tigers are prepared to pay a large portion of Farah's freight to get him off the books, but few clubs have the funds required to fit in a marquee player at such short notice. "It's not just a matter of money, it's also a matter of spirit," Triguboff said. "We have to use him to win matches, not to tempt him to leave us, that's silly. They tell me he's a difficult guy to get on with. That when he and Benji were there they didn't get on too well together. It doesn't matter. He now knows that he can't be stupid and Taylor knows he can't be stupid. Taylor says he is going to play with the hooker not being involved. In the last game the hooker was involved and he won the game."

Asked what role he hoped Smith would play, Triguboff - who has previously intimated he may be interested in privatising the club, said: "I want to talk to him to see how we can get them to all work together."

Triguboff has been helping to prop up Balmain well before the foundation club merged with Western Suburbs and has been an advocate for both entities playing an active role in the partnership. That has been compromised by Balmain's inability to honour its financial commitments to the Wests Tigers, resulting in the governing body loaning Balmain the required funds. If it cannot contribute the outstanding monies by March 31 of next year, Balmain's shares are defaulted and will be put up for sale.

Triguboff's company, Meriton, will likely step back as the club's major backer next season to allow a new firm to adorn the front of the Tigers jersey. However, the man dubbed "Highrise Harry" has always found a way to assist his beloved team, including building a new kitchen at the club's Concord headquarters last preseason. "I'm trying to help," Triguboff said.

Some key points from Harry T. Our retention policies have been ordinary especially with the players listed maybe excluding Blair.

The Tigers need to start getting their act together. I can't help but think its the paying of overs to players like Robbie that kills us but they have to learn from that.

If you read Harry's comments, Farah is staying - "We have to use him to win matches, not to tempt him to leave us, that's silly".

His business minded attitude to assets such as Austin, Blair, Benji and Farah is refreshing.

Well management and JT are in a pickle here, we all know that, but some of you don't understand why they can't/won't tell their side of the story in any detail.

If you're trying to sell something, you don't publicly proclaim all the faults of that product from the offset. As a sales person, you would talk up the positive traits and skimp over the negatives without actually lying about anything though.

If JT/board come out and say for example that Robbie is super high maintenance, argues consistently with all his coaches, abuses his team mates and creates disharmony within the club it's hardly going to create a wealth of possible buyers calling up to take him off our hands. No-one would go near him and we'd be stuck with him regardless. If we say nothing about all this publicly then a buyer may surface and it's then up to them to determine the fit Robbie would have within their club and structure.

So Robbie's manager takes advantage of this and paints the club as the super bad guys, and a lot of gullible fans and journos eat it up without thinking twice. It may be true, it may be crap or most likely somewhere in between but Robbie dictates the narrative, not the club, so he paints himself as the loyal hero who's been wronged and then waits for public pressure and that of the sponsors to force the change that suits him.

Ive heard a story very different to that.

The young players went to Farah about the coach, Farah went to coach about their concerns. Coach is trying to remove Farah so young players pay him more attention.

i too have " heard " many stories similar to what tiger in the gong has said.
the team has not been performing.
the young cubs have not taken to the coach at all.
they look to Robbie as the shield between themselves and JT
as for robbie painting himself in one way or the other….. im not sure anyone would want to do that to themselves. im not sure anyone would even encourage someone else to say - go and paint the club you love as a bunch of this and that - surely that would contradict his love for the club ?
its obvious there is a problem between coach and player.
it at some point seems like one of the parties made a move to beat the other to the punch.
that moved however has back fired.....

Good post Bobo. Let's hope the Storm eases and we get a Rainbow on the Horizon!

I find it interesting that Mick Potter on NRL 360 right now has given has given his support to Robbie Farah in this situation. Out of all people, Mick Potter

Apparently it all comes down to how Robbie is being instructed to play. Robbie wants to play his natural game as he feels by being a simple distributor the team isn't playing to it's strengths.

Nathan Brown, Mick Potter and James Hooper all agree that Robbie is being instructed to not play his natural game and it is the WRONG call. They think he should move on and play his natural game for a another team that can benefit from his play.

Last weeks game was an up ya to JT showing him what his missing out on by deviating from Robbie's natural game.

JT seriously has some egg on his face, considering that we put 50 on the opposition as soon as the team defied JT's game plan and instructions.

Was that the case when we beat Melbourne and the Raiders back to back…what will be the excuse if we happen to lose to the Dragoons...?

Will Robbie go into his shell again...?

Robbie played outside JT's game plan once this season.

He scored a try, had 3 try assists, 2 line breaks and we won by 50

The numbers don't lie.

It will be interesting to see how Robbie plays this week. Will it be Taylor Ball or Robbie's natural game

Robbie's natural game pls 😛ray:

For the last couple of years Rothfield has been bagging out Robbie and saying that he was a negative influence at the Tigers and should be sacked. The minute Robbie gets speared he wants heads to roll.
