Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Here's a question: what is the break-even value for Robbie to be offloaded? Assuming he is on $900K as reported for the last two years, how much of that needs to be picked up by another club to make it worthwhile?

I can't imagine there is any point moving Farah on if we only save $200K-$300K per year, surely that is hardly worth it? What would that money do for us, we could buy one average player? Or upgrade a few players? Who needs an upgrade, who deserves one?

500k me thinks ?

Just watched NRL 360 . Taylor and Farah's relationship was reported to be untenable .
Paul Kent also said Farah wasn't part of JT's plan in moving forward and that Farah doesn't sit well with his team mates .

As for Taylor's interview he's a Tool .
I hope Taylor is moved on sooner than later !

That's right Hobbo I watched it as well, the point being its not all about the salary cap but other issues as well being the break down in player coach relationship, Robbie not getting on with some other players so it's more than salary cap.

To my mind, it really depends on how ready Cherrington is. If he can play 80 minutes and would be our starting hooker anyway, then any money is good. We don't need 2 hookers.

But, I think we're looking for something over 450k. Enough to re-sign Ava and look at another player.

I just hope management learn from this , meaning ….NO MORE BACK ENDED CONTRACTS !!!!!!!

I will probably get shot down but here I go.
This is my first post although I have been a supporter for 50 years, of the tigers.
I feel that its easy to blame management for whats going on now at the club, we all love.
The cold hard facts are the players and coach have not performed.
the captain and coach must shoulder the responsibility of where the team is now.
Yes Robbie has been a loyal club man to a point, but since 2014 his position in the origin team has been of utmost importance to him.He changed his style of play in 2014 to suit origin, which has led to his under performance at the Tigers.
look at origin 2 2015 he was injured and moved heaven and earth to play and when he is injured will not play for the tigers.
how many games did he play this year, is it 11 hardly worthy of $900,000.
As for JT I have never seen a coach who takes positives week in week out from a flogging.
I suggest more players are shown the door and the young players given a go.
sure we wont win any games but are we now.
The money saved will help in 2017.
And i would love to see someone like Blocker roach put in as coach. He wouldn't be happy after a loss and loves the club just not for the money, like some players and coaches.

Your last sentence blasted any credibility you may have had.
Blocker is one troublemaker that need to be kept away from WTs

With no player contracted past 2017…I don't think it'll be a problem

Where has Go been hiding throughout all of this schemozzle? Parked in front of the telly stuffing her face with Krispy Kremes and watching reruns of Laverne and Shirley? By all means be the puppet-master making the tough decisions but for Christ's sake have the gumption and guts to face the media and the scrutiny that comes with it all. Don't leave it to the coach, what is this the under 12's? Weak as water.

This board is leaderless,
next there will be leaks from the board blaming Robbie of stealing little kids lollies , or something equally heinous, to deflect the blame , and direct the anger from themselves to Farah.

The way Robbie has been treated is an absolute disgrace, this club is a basket case. Has anyone on the board even thought this through?
They could be biting off their nose to spite their face.

Tim Moltzen has been the only current player coming out in support of Farah. Yes, Moltzen is leaving but so too are Richards and Galloway. Not a peep out of them in social media land. Interesting …...

Don't get me started on moltzen. The mope spent half his playing career injured, playing nsw cup, or getting injured in nsw cup. Meanwhile collection every cent of his inflated backended contract. If he actually cared about the mope would of pissed off when he wasn't wanted years ago. Then the mope finally speaks up when his off to manly after his collected ever cent of his back ended inflated contract he banked by being injured, playing reserve grade or getting injured in reserve grade.

Just watched the interviews.

JTs was cringe worthy. Amateurish and he certainly did not look comfortable under the circumstances.

mate, this is how he is ALL the time.
go back and watch the press box after games where he babbles on - contradicting himself non stop.
And thats really just scratching the surface of how he is.
In my opinion, hes not a professional coach.
he didnt take the roosters to the grand final.
He didnt implement the roosters style of play.
his role was to work with 2 players almost part time while a very very good coach set the plan and managed the team.
trent robinson, wayne bennet phil gould, these guys are good coaches.
These guys identify players, identify the skills they have and what they bring or can bring to a team.
They DONT say - stop playing how youve played all your life or the way thats earned you a first grade spot and play MY way.
its ridiculous.
Any professional athlete or coaching staff member will tell you - thats the opposite of how you coach a young team.
Theres young kids in the team that week in week out look at him "whinging" and think… "nothing you have said has worked and your blaming us" !!!!
Older guys in the team look at him thinking - "is this guy serious"

This is not about letting him sort a inherited mess, this is about his inability to coach, manage and inspire a first grade team.
Ask anyone who played under him at south what they really think of him.
Ask senior tigers legends what they have made of him thus far
Ask Wayne pearce if he would ever encourage his SON to play or even listen to anything Taylor has to say.
better still and again - ask any senior NRL player i they would want to be coached by him.
Tigers have made some aweful decisions in the past.
Hiring jason taylor is proving to be what could be the final blow.
sad to say it buts true.

Hey mate, i dont know who you are or if what you say is informed or educated but dont be fooled by the morons on here that have bought into the whole Taylor myth.

Hiring Jason Taylor will go down in history as a massive fail. His days are numbered you and i both know it.

Can anybody tell me what the difference is between the Robbie farah situation and your ordinary citzen been made redundant at your typical large organization. ?

Also, would i be correct in saying the recruitment mess the tigers are currently in is not Taylors fault. In terms of he was not around when all these back ended deals were made to farah, Lawrence, brooks, moses?

Please let me know your views.

Difference - Robbie makes more money then any normal person and instead of a few weeks pay he gets 2 million over 2 yrs guaranteed

And No it isn't Taylor or the current boards fault - they have just made the decision that needed to be made

What ? You didn't expect the spin factory that is our Coach and Board to drop stories to the media to sanitize their actions . We should have learned by now that the BS that comes from the so calked leadership in this club is waist deep.
Like Taylor and his multitude of crap , the board are knee deep in it at the moment too

So your saying this doesn't affect Robbie financially. It's just an emotional ego type thing?

Farah's salary for the last two years is guaranteed. He'll get the money he is owed, be it a combination of us and another club paying it out in some form.

Yeah I guess it would be fairly similar to the average person being made redundant

And yes, you are correct in stating that the current back ended deals have nothing to do with Taylor

Speculatively only –- Clearly the budget forecast did not allow for Robbies full contract to be paid out - it stands to reason Farahs head has been on the chopping block for some time they just didnt know how or when to do it. Had the team performed better maybe that would have saved him.Mayers exit of his own choice all the more clearer now - he was going to be the bearer of the bad news no doubt, and knew that he would shoulder most of the blame. May also be why it was left so late, while they decided who was going to tell him, and also why Mayers replacement could not be appointed till the deed was done. Just a thought!
